Default Lost is threatened in France, we need your support !

Lost is threatened in France, we need your support !

Since 2005, TF1 is the official broadcaster of Lost in France. Usually, french viewers get to watch the new season of Lost every year, during the summer, on Saturdays at 8:50pm (Prime-Time slot).

But this year, due to the decreasing ratings of the third season around the world, TF1 has just decided to broadcast Lost on Monday, at 10:40pm ! with three episode in a row ! after repeats of another tv show! The third season is scheduled to start on Monday July, 2nd according to the channel.

That is unacceptable for the french fans !

- What if we cannot watch the show once for whatever reason? What if we don't own a TiVo or a VCR/DVD-burner?
We would be behind in the understanding of the show and we'll miss a lot! And there are no repeats on this channel.
- What if we have to go to school or work on Tuesdays ?
We cannot watch Lost until 1:00am ! That is insane.

Several shows like "24", "Angel" or "Heroes" are (were) also in trouble with TF1. That is why we have to act now, before the third season of Lost even begins.

Lost is really threatened in France. The show, and Lost fans are not being respected. So that is why all the biggest french websites about Lost are united today.

Please help us, we need your help, Lost needs your support... Sign the petition against TF1, save Lost in France. We really count on the solidarity of Lost fans from all around the world

Wow, that's just evil. If they're worried about ratings, putting three hours in a row will just destroy the show in France forever. I mean, what non-fanatic person could withstand 3 hours of tv, on a monday, up to 1 am?!

Cruel

If you're a true LOST fan, you can definitely watch the show until 1am. The time schedule was also changed in the US at the start of season 3.

You'd rather start learning english and download the episodes, so you wouln't need to wait until the summer.

Well, illegal downloading is very severely punished in France. If you ever get caught, you're in serious trouble. And I mean, serious!

You cannot say that most of the audience is true or hardcore fans. Many people will just give up on watching the show altogether because it's broadcasted sooooo late.

I adore Lost, but come on, what TF1 is doing is basically putting the show in the worst time slot and waiting for it to slowly die.

People at TF1 are douchebags. Always were.

So please people, just sign the petition. It'll only take 15 seconds

nobody has been caught in france for downloading tv show releases yet. and you can use french subtitles too. or, alternatively, record the episodes. i doubt the networks gonna change their schedule: they are showing 3 eps which means they want to walk through the season ASAP.

People have been caught for downloading TV Shows (as well as movies, and music) And even if, downloading TV shows illegally is done by a very small portion of LOST fans. Definitely not the majority.
Not everyone own a dvd-burner or a VCR or TiVo.
We can still hope ^^ Just because they are not likely to change their schedule does not mean we have to give up.

I'm sorry, but airing 3 episodes at a time, during the night is also showing a lack of respect for the work of the creative team...

It isn't true. Not that many people have ben caught in France. Not so long ago, the government was still discussing the possibility of making it legal if people paid a certain amount of money every month.

Anyway, who's talking about illegal dowload? They're plenty of legal sites to download TV shows, music and movies out there. For cheap. Also, I highly doubt more than 5% of the population doesn't own a VCR. Everyone owns a VCR.

I feel sorry for you guys, but TF1 is most unlikely to change their decision. But good luck with the petition.

the only way you would be presuaded by the police is if you sell those files you downloaded.

also, note, that, downloading tv shows and movies is two VERY different things.

I'm sorry to say that but your statements are not accurate.

Downloading material that is copyrighted without the consent of the owner is considered illegal downloading in France. Whether you download a movie, a TV show or music it is on the whole the same. Of course, downloading video is more sanctioned than downloading music (because there are more copyrights involved).

Indeed, not a lot of people have been cauht. But people have been caught nonetheless. You should read what I wrote more carefully. I never said a lot of people were caught. I said people were caught and that's a fact

These sites you're talking about may be legal, but their use and their content, just like torrents is illegal in France. I know the law, I know what I'm talking about.
Downloading from these sites, even if you pay is illegal.
Of course, making episodes available for others is worse for you.

To tell you the truth, some accounts of french people on DailyMotion for example were simply shut down because they allowed viewers to watch episodes of Lost (and other TV shows) in streaming. No downloading involved, but the mere fact of making it watchable for people is considered copyright violation.

Anyhoo, apparently, despite my knowledge of Frrench law, you guys seem to think downloading is ok. As for myself, I would not download, I don't want to be in trouble. And I do speak and understand English quite well, thanks ^^

I also think that just because a network is directed by douchebags, it does not mean we have to flat out accept their unfair treatment of this great show that is Lost.

SOOOOO, this topic was not meant to discuss downloading in France. Please people, support us and sign the petition, that would be really cool. ^^

I'm french, and I understand french fan who wait TF1 to whatch Lost season 3.
But, the problem doesn't concern only Lost, since TF1 is broadcasting 4 successful US TV Show during the summer with 3 episodes per week !

Heroes, starting June 30th with 3 episodes between 8.50pm and 11.15pm (there is only one commercial interruption per episode in France contrary to the US, this is very cool !).

24, starting June 30th with 3 episodes between 11.20pm and 1.45pm.

Grey's Anatomy, already on TF1 since May 22th every Tuesdays with 3 episodes between 8.50pm and 11.15pm.

and Lost, broadcasting after repeats of a french TV show, starting July 2nd at 10.40 pm

As you can see, for the French who enjoy this shows, I think it's hard to see all of them, specially during the summer.

But this problem concerns TF1, since M6 the official broadcaster of Prison Break waits September to air the show with 2 episodes a week. And it was a very large success last year with the first season (7.5 millions viewers watched the season 1 final, and we're 60 millions in France !)

The US TV Show most watched in France is CSI Miami with around 9-10 millions viewers on TF1 !

See, I don't get this. A show's ratings start to slip, so they give it less and less support, rather than giving it a chance to regain its viewers by keeping it on in the same time slot. It's like a slippery slope; they give it a crappy slot because the ratings are lower, and then even fewer people can watch it, causing the ratings to suffer even more. I still don't understand why ABC won't return Lost to its original 8 PM time slot, which would help the ratings, I'm certain.
Definitely signing...

Really? DailyMotion is how I watch Lost and it's mainly only uploaded English Episodes with French Sub-titles put in by the uploader in America I mean, no use to me since I'm English myself, but you know, pretty cool.

And thats a ridiculous Time Slot - I kinda know what it's like, I'm never gonna forgive Channel4 who were the original broadcasters here in England for selling the rights to Sky Who aired it at 10pm sunday nights [right before a Monday school/work day!]. And then they were brought out by Virgin Media

Anyways - signing.
