Maybe the plot sucked in your opinion, but LOST is known for tying their flashbacks into the episode so Hurley wanting to blow up the hatch was just him coping with what he went through in the past.

It hought it was an excelent episode. I espeacially love when Hurley is about to blow up the food and it goes back and forth with the conversation of him and Rose and when all of the Media comes up to hurley and he looks at his friend.

No, I think I nodded off at that point. I reedited my post to explain why it was the worse. To me, it felt like every other TV show out there, save old Alias, Angel and 24.

Do you think this is the weakest episode this season?

Did you think there were any weak episodes last season? If so, which ones?

I wasn't expecting a lot of plot advancement and I certainly didn't expect to get any answers in this epi because for one thing, we got a ton of info in the Orientation and another, this was Hurley's episode. I expected it to be simple because Hurley is a simple laidback guy. His flashbacks tied in well with what was going on the island. I think so many people are wrapped up in the mysteries and wanting answers they forget about the little things that make this show so original and great. Character development is what makes this show stand out the most and that’s why love it so much. Lost is probably going to be on for a while. We have plenty of time to get our questions answered.

Specifically, the episode wasn't very convincing. There was nothing substantial enough in Hurley's flashback that would lend enough emotional motivation for a usually skittish character to risk blowing himself into Arntz bits, risk caving in the habitat, and risk killing someone else.

The whole episode felt contrived. Where was the emotional response from Sun when she is burying the bottle? Hard to say, we certainly get a good shot of her crotch, though. The Kate/Jack shower scene was equally stupid (especially the tight shot of the look on Jack's face as she's walking away). And the sappy, slow motion food giveaway at the end was way too over done.

I have totally blame this crappy episode on the director.

Ok, well Hurley isn’t the smartest character is he? Remember in Numbers when he walked across that bridge that looked like it was about to collapse or when he had planned on going into the dangerous jungle alone just so he could find the crazy French chic and ask her where she got the numbers. And alos remember he was in a mental institution. I could totally see him trying to blow up a pantry because he felt he couldn’t ration out the food right. He doesn’t always think before he acts. He's just like that by nature. I didn't think Sun would just have an emotional breakdown while burying the bottle. It was just the bottle. It's very easy to believe that maybe it just fell off the raft. She would have probably been in denial about something bad happening to her husband. I really enjoyed the slow motion scenes with music. I remember there were quite a few of them in season 1.

To me, it's alright. It presented several new things to look forward to in succeeding episodes (e.g. Bernard and Rose, what happened to the rest of the people on the other side of the island). But, I thought that the writing was a bit lazy in the Hurley flashback. It seemed forced or out of character for Hurley's friend to feel that bad/hurt ONLY because Hurley didn't tell him (and it should have been obvious to him that Hurley was in the brink of telling him) that he won the lottery. He (the friend) was so cool and laidback and so carefree, no angst at all it seemed, that you would think his normal reaction would have been high-fiving Hurley for winning the lottery. WHY would he feel that bad and looked that hurt when he found out that Hurley won the lottery? It seemed so out of character. If the character was an obvious "fight-the-establishment" kind of person who really hated gambling or windfalls or so much money, it would have been more believable. Even then, why would someone hate someone who won the lottery without even knowing yet what that winner would do with the money??? For all he knew, Hurley was going to give him some of it, or Hurley would have bought Cluck and let him manage, or given most of it to charity. It was just one stumble in the writing but, unfortunately, it kinda ruined the good parts of the episode. All in all, it was just okay.

I thought this was a great episode, it was nice to see them relax a little and smile a little. I really like Rose being on it.

I loved it! The beginning was excellent. I loved how they interchanged the flashback with the real time. Sayer was great. I really don't like Ana-Lucia, the character, and the way the acter plays her. grrr hope they get rid of her soon. Loved the CC stuff and the Jater stuff, and I am not even a shipper of wither of them

I loved it. We're back to the jungle. The old gang is there. And I liked the Sawyer et al. parts. No Desmond! Yeah!
