This raises more questions:

Is she Ben's daughter? Is Rousseau off island and alive in the sideways world?

Rousseau and her crew were on a science expedition and shipwrecked on the island in 1988. Rousseau was very pregnant at the time. But since the bomb went off in 1977, nowhere to crash in 1988 right.

I'm slightly disappointed that in 11 posts, only 3 have mentioned just how smokin hot Alex was off-island. Sure, she was pretty fine on the island but make-up and a decent haircut did a lot to that girl. Ben wanted to do all kinds of naughty things to her, and she knows it.

Ben was never Alex's biological father, he took her from the French woman. He was suppose to kill her because Widmore told him too. I don't remember if he told Ben it was because Jacob wanted it or not. Ben raised her as his own, like Kate raised Aaron. Neither of them were supposed to do this. In the alternate timeline, Ben is a part of her life but not her father. Kate became a part of Aaron life at least temporaily, making sure that Claire raises her son.

I don't know the name of the actress that plays Alex but she is very talented. She's playing a high school senior in this show, but I saw her on a few episodes of Cold Case where she was playing a married woman working in the homicide devision who has an affair with one of the main characters. Her was was just slightly lighter and she was great as well as so beautiful.

I think there are too many coincidences in this other time-line to ignore. I'm betting this reality isn't "real" in the strictest interpretation of the word. Still, I was happy to see Alex's character back in the show. I was quite sad when they offed her earlier on.

1. We believe the island is underwater in 1988 due to possible nuke.
2. Alex is in LA

4. She is following her mothers footsteps being interested in history.

I just hope we get some more explanation, why did she and her mother -- Rosseaou? move to LA? Where is the French accent?

Alex never had a french accent when she was on the island, why in heaven's name would she have a french accent now. Being born to french parents doesn't automatically make you have a french accent, especially if you are 1) born on the island or 2) born in LA.

I was more interested in the fact that Alex is poor in this reality. That means her mom is not a researcher or a scientist because anyone with that level of education wouldn't "have to work two jobs to pay the rent." So Danielle moving to America may have totally different circumstances than we can even imagine.

Wow. Excellent point. Maybe in this timeline Danielle isn't a research scientist or maybe gave it up to raise Alex. But she is, apparently, a single mom.

Did any one else think that Alex said "Thanks Daddy" to Ben when the principle was walking in during the last school scene? I listened to it a few times and still cant tell because Reynolds walks in. Kinda reminded me of the scene where Claire unknowingly called her new born Aaron.

When Alex was on the island, she had been taken from Rousseau and raised by Ben as his daughter ~ speaking American English. Danielle didn't see her for sixteen years, and I didn't notice any other French Others...

She'd have a French accent now, very simply, for one reason only ~ it had to have been her mother tongue. Unrelated to who her biological parents are but absolutely related to HER OWN parents (biological or adopted) mother tongue. In this case, obviously French.

My guess is that she was raised in those preschool years in France OR Danielle raised her with French as her first language ~ which could have been anywhere in the world.

A French accent is very hard to lose btw ... those pesky vowel are pronounced soooo differently ... but I've heard (from ESL teaching friends) that in general, a child who acquires a second language by late elementary school (8-9) can acquire native fluency, accent and all, but that the middle of the bell curve.

I agree that we are forgetting that Ben has been on the island before his teaching job. As his father revealed. We dont know when Ben was there, but maybe he had a hand in bringing Alex back to LA. I think there is alot more we dont know yet about this.

But if Bens dad took he off the island as a kid, then he would not have been there in 1988 when Alex was born.

Funny you said uncrashed because she was in the series "Crash" as a hooker/junkie. also on Malcom in the Middle!
