A random thought that occurred to me during this episode is that the colors in the L.A. scenes look really desaturated, washed out. Since we seem to infer significance into everything, what might this mean?

Oh, and also, I haven't had the chance to mention that Lost is completely losing me. I don't get it anymore. I still don't know why the Oceanic 6 had to get back to the island, who it was that manipulated into doing it, why some of them were sent to 1977 and some stayed in the present, and instead of answering those questions, here we go with more factions with more hidden agendas and more doubletalk... and a parallel universe or something. How do they ever intend to solve all this in just 13 or so remaining episodes?

I myself believe that the alternate L.A. scenes are a possibility of how their lives could turn out. We have the current timeline on the island, which is very colorful. (they evolve, they grow, become better people)

In L.A., in the alternate timeline where they don't crash, they continue their messed up lives. They don't evolve, or grow or become better people. Thus the desaturated colors.

Its a reality that is not the better one of the two. The LOSTies just need to understand that before the final episode, or else they'll choose to prevent the crash somehow and they will have never made that personal growth that they got on the island.
