Looks like Ian has jumped on the Vampire bandwagon after the massive successes like Twilight and the HBP tv show True Blood. According to this article (http://www.jaunted.com/story/2009/4/9/85749/40114/travel/%27Twilight%27s%27+Rival+Vampires+Set+Up+Shop+In+V ancouver) he is now in Vancouver to shoot a new TV series called the Vampire Diaries, this articles talks alot about Twilight Sequel, New Moon but still it is reporting about Ian's new tv series:
VAMPIRES
'Twilight's' Rival Vampires Set Up Shop In Vancouver
Last week when we wrote about fan furor in Vancouver around the shooting of vampire sequel "New Moon," we suggested another production could sneak in under the radar and get a lot of work done while local teens were distracted. And look, someone was listening! Specifically, the CW, which is moving in with its own vampire show.
The network behind Gossip Girl recently ordered a pilot called "The Vampire Diaries," based on a '90s YA series by L.J. Smith about a girl in a small town who falls in love with the mysterious new guy in town only to discover that he is a, say it, vampire. "Dawson's Creek" creator Kevin Williamson is executive producing and "LOST"'s Ian Somerhalder has been cast as one of the vampires. And guess who was just spotted hanging out in Vancouver this week? So the network isn't just jumping on the bandwagon, it's biting the scene too.
The latest locations for "New Moon" -- which will probably have to switch high schools after news of its setting up in one suburban school hit the internets -- probably haven't already been added to Vancouver Movie Tours' three-hour backlot tour, but the minibus-based group pairs footage from movies like "X-Men" and other CW project "Smallville" with their real-life locales. Bonus: Way fewer screaming teens at each stop.

Ian Somerhalder Surfaces In Vancouver
Why, hello there!
April 7th, 2009
Former Lost hottie Ian Somerhalder has been out of the limelight for the past year or so but has just this week surfaced in Vancouver, Canada to press the flesh and sign a few autographs for fans. Last month we learned that Somerhalder has signed on to appear in the upcoming new series Vampire Diaries which is set to debut on The CW this Fall. Methinks that this surfacing is just the first in a slew of new sightings leading up to the debut of this new CW series:
Ian Somerhalder, who played Boone on ABC’s hit “Lost,” has joined the cast of the CW’s drama pilot “Vampire Diaries.” Variety says that Somerhalder is set to play Damon, a smug vampire who can go from playful to evil in a split second. Also joining the cast are Zach Roerig (”Friday Night Lights”), who will play the jock Matt, and Kayla Ewell (”Entourage”), who will play Matt’s sister. Previously announced cast includes Nina Dobrev and Steven R. McQueen. “Vampire Diaries,” based on a series of books from Alloy Entertainment, centers on a woman who falls for two vampire brothers - one good and one evil.
Thank Jebus, this man deffo needs to be back on the TV airwaves. I’m thinking that The CW is hoping that Vampire Diaries will be the Twilight of TV. They’ve scored a real boon (pardon the pun) by getting Somerhalder on board. I’m sure his return to television will be heralded by all the fangirls/boys out there how have been missing his rosy-cheeked countenance on the small screen. I am very much looking forward to more Ian Somerhalder in the weeks and months to come.

And yes there's new Ian pics there...he looks great I gotta say, I wonder how this series will look like.
