Loved this episode!

It was great to find out how Locke "died", though I admit I was shocked both by the means by which he died, and by Ben's slightly tearful " I'll miss you, John." Talk about Bipolar o.O (Hark! Hear I a cheer from Bryden? :P)

I thought Kate's "Ever loved someone" might have had something to do with Jack, at first, but now I'm wondering if she was thinking of anyone at all. :blank: hmmm.

It was also nice to see Walt again...seriously, I was waiting for that scene between them since season 2 ended. I lvoed their bond in season 1 and i think that it needed closure. I was surprised by how deep Walt's voice was, though. I keep expecting him to still have a squealy-voice o.O Anyway, I'm glad Locke let Walt off the hook. I think that he still cares for Walt to some degree.

Alright, no putting it off any longer: THE PROMO.

MOVE aside, Jate! It's time for the REAL romance to begin! :w00t: The look on Sawyer's face...the voice-over...perfection. Who needs three years together and thiry-minute relationship when you can have SKATE?!

Let me just say this:

To anyone here who was excited to see what Locke said to Kate and what her reaction would be about Sawyer or anyone left behind for that matter, you won't find it in this episode.

Kate didn't give a **** about Sawyer. At all. And this is not me being hard on Kate or pessimissitic or anything like that...SHE DIDN'T CARE. Sawyer wasn't even bought up in the conversation.

The conversation consisted of the summary of Locke and Helen's great love affair.

Darlton screwed us over. Big time.

I was disappointed in the Locke/Kate scene. I really wish that they would have brought up Sawyer. I wish that Locke would have said "Don't you care at all about Sawyer" instead of "Don't you care about them." It annoyed me that Kate basically talked around the question of 'Don't you care about them?' by asking him if he's ever been in love. Part of me saw that as her thinking slightly of Sawyer, but not at the same time.

I actually didn't really like this episode very much. I thought it was kinda boring actually, until we found out what happened to Helen. I was sad that Helen died. When Matthew Abaddon got shot was when it finally started getting interesting.

It was good to see Walt again, but I didn't really care what Locke told everyone because it obviously didn't work at all.

It's annoying to me that Sawyer hasn't been in 2 episodes in a row, and he really hasn't been in it much in my opinion. So he better the hell have some major screen time the rest of the season. Darlton has called this season the season of Sawyer when he really hasn't been in it THAT much. It just kinda annoys me that he hasn't been in the show for 2 episodes.

Also As for the people in the plane when it crashed...i think the Locke group, and the Kate/Hurley/Jack group is actually in different time periods. Maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about but considering they 'disappeared' before the plane crashed, I'm kinda thinking that.

Best part of the entire episode...

THE PROMO :w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t:

Skate reunion finally! But I'm kinda thinking that it will be at the end of the episode. Sawyer with glasses :). I'm excited for next week. I can't wait.

Glad I wasn't the only one confused about Kate's "ever been in love" comment. I too didn't like that she didn't seem to care. Oh gosh!

Kate's comment was definitely confusing. i was scratching my head.

next week i'm hoping for some Skate satisfaction, finally, after having to endure boring Jate off-island "romance."

the Locke/Kate convo had no point in my opinion! it was completely out of character the way John didn't ask her about Sawyer and I'm SO sure Damon and Carlton wrote the "have you ever been in love" comment to confuse the hell out of us, and make us start coming up with all kinds of theories.

I simply refuse to believe that Kate "doesn't care" about Sawyer. Really? She's keeping his promise for three whole years. I think the scene between them could have been written better but this was all about Locke and how he failed to convince them to go back. I'm so not going to get worked up by it. Not with so many things coming up.
Other than that the episode was...nice:P not the biggest fan of Locke but it was pretty interesting AND we saw WAAAAAAAAALT again:D

OMG the promo:thud: I don't know how many times I've watched it. Bring on skate!!

don't be confused here ABC recap and remember WHO write it ;)
In Los Angeles, Locke talks to Kate. She understands that everyone will die on the island, but she says no. Doesn't she care about them? Kate says she loves her son, and he loves her. She's never going back because she'll never leave Aaron. Kate tells John to find someone to love.

There was one person Locke loved, and he asks Abaddon to find Helen Norwood. Abaddon does and takes Locke to her gravestone at a cemetery. He explains that she died from a brain aneurysm. Locke says she loved him, that they could've been together. But Abaddon says that wouldn't have changed anything. She'd still be gone. She's where she's supposed to be, and Locke's path leads back to the island.

Thanks for the confirmation! I knew she meant Aaron. I wonder if Gregg wrote that because it was in the script, but then they cut parts of it purposely to keep it ambiguous for another week. ;)

Kristin's recap:

http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/watch_with_kristin/b101738_lost_redux_casualties_of_war.html

Interesting part:

Whatchoutalkin' 'Bout Kate? Kate thinks Locke wanted to stay on the Island because...he didn't love anyone? That declaration leads to the following question for those of us who follow Kate's exhausting love life: Whom does she love? Jack, Sawyer, Aaron or all of the above, and how did her love for that guy or guys make her want to leave the Island? The ABC promo suggests we might get some clarity on that issue next week, but it can't come too soon.

woaaah! what a strange recap :orly:
i rly don't like this bit:
Whom does she love? Jack, Sawyer, Aaron or all of the above, and how did her love for that guy or guys make her want to leave the Island?

i rly don't like the fact that she might actually love ALL of them. By ALL of them i mean Jack.:shifty:

I admit I was a bit disappointed in the Kate/Locke scene as well.
But then I remembered who wrote the episode-Darlton-and I've believed since the beginning of the season that they are purposely
holding back on giving us any hope for Skate so that the reunion will be that much more epic. They want us to believe that Kate doesn't care about Sawyer but I think they're saving her true feelings for future episodes, particularly the one involving her promise to him. Also, we need to remember the scene/scenes when Kate met druggie
Jack at the airport and he showed her a copy of Jeremy Bentham's obituary. The conversation that followed showed us that Kate thought Locke was completely off his rocker and she didn't really believe anything he said. The tearful "for 3 years I've been trying to forgot the horrible things that happened that day and you want me to go back???" show that she really wasn't convinced that anyone was still alive. I think if Locke would have convinced her that Jin was still alive she would have at least picked up the phone and given her buddy, Sun, a call. But she didn't. I wouldn't read too much into that scene regarding her feelings for Sawyer.

ITA^!trust me hun if anyone believes that has anything to do with her love for jack:rolleyes:they're off their rocker!i still believe some scenes were kept in order for future ep's!not only can i not wait for next weeks ep....but....kate's ep as well is making me go crazy!& thanks for bringing that up about that scene when bearded alkey jack tried to convince kate.i agree i don't think kate was convinced at all!

I'm really excited to see Kate's episode as well. I really want to know what happened with Aaron, and with Cassidy, and what made her want to come back. Maybe all three of them are connected somehow. I don't know. She still wasn't even convinced at the end of 5x05, when she overheard them talking about the island and she said "That's what this is about? You've been pretending to care about Aaron?" and then "Jack DON'T!" Squeals away from the scene.
So it only took like 2 hours for her to change her mind. I'm just really wondering what happened in those 2 or 3 hours to make her totally change her mind. I know it must have to do with Aaron, but I don't want to wait to find out!
And of course I can't wait until the reunion next week.

I liked the episode, i think it was interesting, it was not amazing like the ones before but I still think it was a pretty good episode.
I liked that Locke went to see Walt but he didnt' tell him anything bad about what happened, and Michael :(

I can't believe what Ben did, well actually I can. I felt so bad for Locke, but then I knew the island will bring him back.

Even though we are going to see Kate's feelings soon, I really didn't like her attitude in this episode, she could've been more expressive, and then Locke could've metioned Sawyer too.

The promo OMGGGGGGGGGGGGG! i CAN'T WAIT!

I am a little behind, I just finished watching this episode and I don't really understand Kate's reaction. I was thinking that she knew Locke was serious when he said that everyone on the island would die if she didn't come back based on how coldly she told Locke she had heard him loud and clear. But then she went off in a tangent about how desparate he was to stay on that island because he didn't love anybody, which lead me to think she thought he wasn't being serious about the other losties dying, and wanted the O6 to come back because his sole purpose was the island.

I really don't think this was supposed to be shipper related, otherwise Locke would have brought up Sawyer, and then if she shrugged things off despite hearing his name it would have been death for Skate imo. Still I don't understand why she never asked about Sawyer, but when she told him how she thought about him sometimes, and how he was desparate to stay on the island, I kinda think she was also refering to Sawyer, because he didn't seem to want to leave prior to getting on the helicopter and then jumped off.

The episode was strong. Very good moments interfered with pretty weak ones. And the most bizzare was Locke meeting with Kate. I know the scene was about him and Helen rather than convincing Kate to go back but wth? Kate's attitude wasjust odd like all Locke's meeting with the O6, except the one with Sayid. The episode rather good than bad but I really expected more from it ,a lot more to be strict.
They should have mentioned Sawyer in the conversation between Locke and Kate and I guess everyone agree with that but insted they just used that scene to develop the moment when John ended up with Abbandon by Helen's grave. The scene just implied that Kate was cruel ,cold and selfish and doesn't care about the leftbehinder, not Sawyer secifically. That was my impression and I don't think that's true.

Two last episodes with huge expectations and a little bit disappointance.
What's interesting that were the episodes with no Sawyer. So,the conclusion?:p Hope the next week is strong and the episode will be perfect.

:glomp: :w00t: Yes, that was me cheering. Sorry, I'll keep it down next time. :giggle: :high5:

If this series isn't about dealing with the mentally ill, then I'm a monkey's...cousin.

Let's see, Skate-related...

I found Kate's cold, detached conversation with Locke to be just a segue to Locke's visit to Helen's grave. Locke never mentioned Sawyer at all. This was all about Locke.

I still maintain...and there were even more clues in this episode...that Abaddon is Jacob. Count on it.

See, I'm more in favor of the "Abaddon is future Walt" theory. Especially since both of them call him "Mr. Locke." ALTHOUGH it would be awesome if Abaddon is Walt who is also Jacob.
