Do you think with Desmond showing up the same time as Ben to see Hawking it will have major consequences with Penny? I believe Penny and young Chucky are with Des so Ben will have his opportunity. Maybe Ben will try to kill her? What do you think, and if so will Des try to kill Ben?

Well, Ben would have another mission now. Let's hope Desmond can find out sooner or later about Ben's revenge.

This was really interesting. I wonder if Desmond will end up going back to the island with the O6? Even though he isn't one of the ones who has to go.

i doubt he will go back with the oceanic 6

i recall daniel saying too desmond, just outside the swan, he was saying that desmond is special, and that "the rules" don't apply too him

so although he is an intergal part of the story line, he isn't needed to go back too the island imo

at the start of this season sky TV broadcasted a behind the scene episode from season 5, more important from episode 10

Dez was on the set.

Ben looked surprised when Desmond asked if "they were looking for Faraday's mother too".
So either Ben didn't know Eloise was Daniel's mother, or he just didn't expect Desmond to know that as well.

I've always thought he IS one of the ones who has to go back (along with Aaron). No one has said otherwise, have they?

Maybe he's going to put two-and-two together -- i.e., he knows Des has seen Widmore.

guess it happens when you have 15 topics open, something pops into your head and you rush to post it before you forget it :o

Related threads, but not the same thing.

I think it is the consensus that since Des was not on the original flight, he is not considered one of the O6. The O6 are: Jack, Kate, Sun, Hurley, Sayid, and Aaron.

Have Dez and Ben ever met face to face before. I know both are aware of the presence of each other on the island, but would they have recognized each other? Both Ben and Dez acted like they know each other in last nights episode.

It doesn't really matter whether or not Des is part of the Oceanic 6 - Ben said they all had to go back...not all of the O6.

I'm not sure who this includes....but what about Walt?

I'm pretty sure that Desmond HAS to go back, because, well, he left the island and I don't think he was supposed to; and also I thought he would be comming back when Penny made him promise that he wouldn't return to that place.

On the other hand, if he is suppossed to go back, why didn't Ben look for him too? Was he going to do that after, when he went for Penny? (He better not kill her )

My first thought was that Ben can now find Penney to kill her. Except he doesn't have time. :)

You'd think that Widmore, being worried about Ben's plans to murder Penny, would have specifically told Des to keep Penny away from him. But I don't believe Des has to return to the island. He was not part of the O6.

Exactly my point. The "Oceanic 6" is something the media came up with once they came back.

No one has said "All of the Oceanic 6 must come back." Instead, they all to a man say "they all" or "you all" must come back. Pretty vague.

I do think that from Christian and Richard's perspective, Ben is not included in "you all." Ben, on the other hand, is using it as a way to get back.

Maybe I'll be proven wrong.

I think Desmond will go back to the island, whether he makes the decision or it's made for him (maybe something will happen to Penny and young Charles if he doesn't).

It's just more dramatic that way.

The only person who is a threat for Penny is Ben.
Ben threats Desmond ,if he doesn't go back to the island he'll kill Penny.
But firstly he has to find her and lock her up somewhere. The only possible scenerio.

It's appearing that what Christian says is pretty literal. The whole thing with Locke ("I said YOU have to move the island, not that BEN has to move the island") illustrates this point. So I really do think it's everyone. As in the 06, Ben (I never really bought his whole 'I can't return' thing), Locke, Des, Walt, Lapidus...The trouble is determining where to draw the line. Does Widmore have to return, since we know he was there before? How about Ji Yeon, who was conceived on the island?

It's tough to call, but I do think Des for sure has to go back. However, I'm less concerned about Ben trying to kill Penny (he's got bigger stuff to worry about right now) and more concerned about Des and Penny staying together. As horrible and heart-wrenching it would be to see Des and Penny seperated again, I have a feeling Des will either try to get out of going back (which won't work; if the island wants you, you get there), or worse...he tries to bring Penny and Charlie back with him. I've got a feeling that would throw EVERYTHING off.

I was thinking the same thing, that Ben now would know how to find Penny, and perhaps try to kill her. But then I also thought, that Widmore, now knows that Desmond is looking for Faraday's mom, and maybe he has had Desmond followed/ or perhaps is watching Faraday's mom? First, to protect Penny, and second, to try and find the island again. I wonder if Ben and Widmore would run into each other again?
