Playing it too (on 360), at first it looked a lot like Oblivion but it's definitaly different. The VATS system is really fun!
However sometimes it's kind of hard cos atm I've run out of ammo and all my guns are broken + i don't have enough money to repair it all:blank:.
The story seems interesting but it hasn't really started yet. I'm in Rivet City now.

... just started today.

Was I supposed to kill Amata's father (the overseer), or was that avoidable? Oh well, probably not "getting any of that". Doh!:giggle:

I killed him too, twice even, because the first time I played it on my laptop but it didn't run that well so I bought it for the 360. So I think it wasnt avoidable.

Just beat the main quest as an evil character and it was oddly unsatisfying. It was easier being evil, but I don't think I'm cut out to be heartless; I kept feeling sorry for the people I was killing  I think I'm going to play a good, big-weapons guy next.
Also, it's incredibly cool that (minor, minor spoiler, but it's cool to find out on your own) the first and last words of the game are "War, war never changes"

So I think it wasnt avoidable.
As I was beating him senseless with a baton, a split second before the death blow, I thought the game informed me that he'd been crippled. I keep wondering what would have happened had I not hit him that one last time - or even not struck him at all????

Anyone tried playing as both a male and a female? Differences? Advantages?

Well, the beauty of Fallout is about choice, consequence, and karma. Anything goes and it adds up to re playability.:)

Can you tell me how many hours it took you to finish it?
And I heard you can't continue after the main story, so I'll have to save somewhere before the last quest.

Well... I probably have 15-20 hours in the game, but only about 5 or 6 was while playing the main quest. However, if I hadn't been playing and leveling up then the main quest would have been harder and would have taken me longer.
No, you can't continue after the end of the main quest.

I have the game but my brother played it for a few minutes an ended up making my character do things i wouldnt of had him do. then it automatically saved after some point an there was no way i could go back an play the game like how i would of chosen to. so i lost interest in it after that.

maybe i'll pick back up again when im done with the other games im playing though an see how it goes regardless.

It is a bummer you cannot play around after the main quest is finished.

New Fallout 3 downloadable content coming January.

^^^^That is right.

After the main quest is done, you either need to go to an earlier save or start with a brand new character.

It happened in the first Fallout back in 1997.

I too found the evil ending rather one dimensional, anyway I'm flirting with the thought of starting it again as a good karma female. :)
