* All spoilers and plot information has been spoiler tagged. Michael Bay has publically stated that he will be releasing false information regarding the film to combat leaks within the production team, similar to those which occured during the production of Transformers (2007).
Title: Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen (2009).
Director: Michael Bay.
Writers: Alex Kurtzman; Roberto Orci; Ehren Kruger.
Release Date 25 June 2009 (Australia); 26 June 2009 (USA/UK)
Synopsis: The battle for Earth has ended but the battle for the universe has just begun. After returning to Cybertron, Starscream assumes command of the Decepticons, and has decided to return to Earth with force. The Autobots believing that peace was possible finds out that Megatron's dead body has been stolen from the US Military by Skorpinox and revives him using his own spark. Now Megatron is back seeking revenge and with Starscream and more Decepticon reinforcements on the way, the Autobots with reinforcements of their own, may have more to deal with then meets the eye.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009) is the title of the upcoming science fiction film, due for release on June 26, 2009.
It is the sequel to the Michael Bay's Transformers (2007).
Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg return respectively as director and executive producer, while Shia LaBeouf reprises the role of Sam Witwicky, the human caught in the war between Autobots and Decepticons.
Shooting began in May 2008.
Bay desired to give the sequel a bigger budget for a global scale and better characterization for a larger cast of robots. The main hurdle in getting the film produced was overcoming the 2007–2008 Writers Guild of America strike, as well as possible strikes by the Directors Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild. Bay met his shooting date with the help of previsualization and a scriptment by his writers Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, and series newcomer Ehren Kruger.
Roberto Orci described the film's theme as the robots confronting "being away from home", with the focus between the robots and humans "much more evenly balanced". The tone will be similar to the first film, but "the stakes will be higher", (with a more global sensibility), and there will be more focus on the science fiction elements. Orci also said "we'll be better at modulating [the humor] this time". Structurally, the plot will be "more organically interconnected in that Transformers had the structure of 3 story lines coming together at Hoover. Transformers 2 will have a different structure."
Shia LaBeouf returns as Sam Witwicky, the teenager wo killed Megatron. He attends an East Coast college where he is studying astronomy
Megan Fox returns as Mikaela Banes, Sam's girlfriend. She cannot afford to attend college with Sam.
Josh Duhamel returns as Captain William Lennox, an ally of the Autobots. Since the first film Lennox has become part of an international taskforce battling Decepticons with the Autobots.[
Tyrese Gibson returns as Air Force Technical Sergeant Robert Epps, an ally of the Autobots and member of Lennox's team.
John Turturro returns as Reggie Simmons, former agent of the terminated Sector 7 unit, which monitored the Transformers activity on Earth.
Matthew Marsden joins the cast, playing Graham, a member of the United Kingdom Special Forces who joins Lennox's team.
Isabel Lucas joins the cast, playing Alice, a fellow student at Sam's college.
Ramon Rodriguez plays Leo.
Kevin Dunn and Julie White return, playing Ron and Judy, Sam's parents. Orci wrote, "Love them! Gotta have them back." He confirmed they learned the truth about the Transformers while off-screen during Transformers (2007)
Peter Cullen voices Autobot leader Optimus Prime.
Mark Ryan voices Bumblebee.
The other Autobot voices are unconfirmed.
Ironhide, the Autobot weapons specialist, will retain his GMC Topkick form.
Ratchet, the Autobot medic, will retain his Hummer H2 form.
Arcee, an Autobot motorcycle with a feminine personality and appearance. Arcee was dropped from the first film as the writers felt there was not enough time to explain her "gender".
Starscream, the Decepticon air commander and Megatron's general. He flew into space after fleeing the climactic battle in the first film, betraying his leader. Orci confirmed he will have more dialogue.
Barricade will return after disappearing in the first film. He will still be a Saleen Mustang police car.
Jetfire, a Decepticon SR-71 Blackbird.
Hasbro stated "a key character from the first movie would make a dramatic comeback and attempt to settle a score": Megatron (Hugo Weaving) was among those killed in the first film.
The film's official website is still active, and has been updated to represent the new sequel: http://www.transformersmovie.com/

Yeah, I went from total naysayer to a huge fan of the first movie. I have high hopes for the sequel. They could make 100 of these, as long as they're as good as the original, and I'd watch every minute...twice.

I saw the first film not expecting much and came out speaking the world of it. It surely was the biggest surprise hit of 2007 in my books.
I'm hoping this sequel proves to be just as good. There so many concepts and stories floating around out there about the plot that I just dont know what to think - I cant tell what's real and whats not.

I was blown away by the special effects of the machines in the first movie, but the storyline was OK. Acting was decent and the action was fun. (Well, the first one was a fun and hot roller coaster ride which doesn't require your brain. That and Megan Fox is a hottie.)
I'm glad that Orci and Kurtzman are writing the script. Michael Bay is back to direct it. To be honest, I could only see him pulling off something this bold and high demanding.

It was a surprise to see him pull off such a decent flick the first time around. It just goes back to the fact that Michael Bay films are fun, and if you expect nothing more than good, fun, entertaining, action, then you won't be disappointed.

the first film really did take a "hokie" premise so to speak and make a great film out of it.

I liked the first flick when I first saw it in theaters. Then I saw it on HBO and found it okay. Then again and got annoyed... And then the last time I watched it I couldn't believe I used to like that crap. So if the cast and crew are returning for the sequel, I think it's safe to say I won't be seeing it. Enjoy the cake though.

Same here.
I think the FX were the selling point for the movie. I'm still looking for tell-tale signs of CGI but they seem well optimized to fit in with the real life elements (actors, background, lighting).
However, the one of the selling points for me for this sequel is Megan Fox returning and hopefully more Decepticon action.
Yes, I know Megan Fox is not a great actress, but personally, I couldn't see any other actress take the role.
Good to hear that Shia is back.

Good to hear that Shia is back.
That is, once he actually gets back to work.
The Transformers star is nicked for suspected drink driving…
Shia LaBeouf has been arrested in Los Angeles for suspected drink driving after crashing his truck in a serious accident.
The star of Transformers and the recent Indiana Jones film was driving his pick up truck early Sunday morning when he crashed into a car and flipped his own vehicle over.
Shia was arrested and then treated for injuries to his head and hand.
LA County Sheriff Sgt Scott Wolf told reporters: ““It was immediately apparent to officers responding on the scene that LaBeouf was intoxicated and he was subsequently placed under arrest."
The actor is currently filming Transformers 2 but due the hand injury will now be unable to work for around a month.
His publicist said: “Attorneys for Mr. LaBeouf confirm that an automobile accident involving an additional party occurred early morning in Los Angeles on July 27, 2008.
“Shia is currently recovering from extensive hand surgery with plans to return to work on the set of Transformers 2 within one month. No further comment will be issued at this time.”

Well the plot does sound promsing but bringing back Megatron :( couldn't they just bring in a new villain anyways I'm sure it will be just a good as the first one.
That is, once he actually gets back to work.
According to Michael Bay he's going to try and add it to the script and film around it and after looking at this picture his arm is going to some what distracting. :p

Oh no. Bad bad bad idea Michael Bay!
Such changes have the potential to add an unnecessary plot line that has not been fully thought through in the original concept. That would be largly distracting -- if LaBeouf's broken arm is not distracting enough (as Alex points out).

I am going to disagree. :) How often do you see the hero/heroin of the storyline seemingly come off unscathed in this big action movies, when they have been tossed about, pushed around and had a scrap or two here and there.
I think it would add a little dynamic to the storyline, to see the lead incapacitated somewhat.
Michael Bay is standing up for Shia, which goes against how the media have him pegged as a bad boy and was quick to assume he was DUI again, but I guess that is just another reason not believe everything you read hey? :)
Can't wait for this movie.

Some news on the return of Megatron.
You can't keep a good Decepticon down, it seems. After suffering a thorough beatdown at the hands of Optimus Prime in last summer's Transformers, the villainous Megatron looked destined for the scrapyard. Not so, says CHUD.com's Devin, who reports today that the sinister Decepticon leader will be back in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen -- in tank form.
Fans will remember that Megatron originally debuted as a handgun, but was changed to a tank for Hasbro's "Series 2" line of Transformers toys. He transformed into an "alien jet" in Michael Bay's blockbuster flick.

It seems that the robots in disguise are getting some help from Chevrolet yet again. Jalopink.com has posted some exclusive images from the new car on the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen set: the Corvette Centennial Design concept car.
The new vehicle will be part of GM's 100-year celebration and is expected to be officially unveiled sometime next year before Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen's June 26, 2009 release. It isn't clear, however, which transformer this vehicle will become.

Alright, I'm hoping for a MAJOR car chase this time in the movie.
With all these vehicles, we should get a crazy and destructive vehicle chase. (the two chases in the first movie were like blink and you missed it).
You see, I want to see Barricade and Bumblebee in a high speed chase. I can understand the delicate nature of the Camaro concept, but c'mon Michael Bay, please give us a good car chase this time around.
More Starscream please?:D

Official Transformers 2 IMAX Announcement
Source: IMAX Corporation / SuperHeroHype.com (http://www.superherohype.com/news/transformersnews.php?id=7693)
September 30, 2008
Following up on last night's brief Variety report, IMAX Corporation has now officially announced that Michael Bay will shoot select scenes of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen with IMAX cameras:
IMAX Corporation, DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures today announced that director Michael Bay will shoot key sequences of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen with IMAX® cameras. Bay will integrate the IMAX footage with state of the art CGI to create an unprecedented look and feel for the highly anticipated sequel to last year's box office hit, Transformers. As previously announced, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will be released to IMAX® theatres simultaneously with the movie's wide release on June 26, 2009.
The movie sequences shot in traditional 35mm will be digitally re-mastered into the unparalleled image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® with IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The IMAX DMR scenes will appear in the traditional "letterbox" shape, while scenes shot with IMAX's cameras will expand vertically to fill the entire IMAX screen.
"The extraordinary level of detail and intensity captured by the IMAX camera creates many exciting possibilities for us with this film," said Michael Bay, the film's director. "IMAX's all-encompassing format will take this story to a new level, and I am once again very excited to share The IMAX Experience with Transformers fans around the world."
"The addition of another amazing title from DreamWorks and Paramount, combined with more groundbreaking use of IMAX technology by Hollywood's top filmmakers, are examples of how far we have come as a company and a distribution platform over the past several years," said IMAX Co-Chairmen and Co-CEOs Richard L. Gelfond and Bradley J. Wechsler. "The growth of the IMAX theatre network, fueled by the economical benefits of the new IMAX digital system, is driving interest from virtually all of the top studios, which is resulting in more IMAX movies for audiences to enjoy."
"Michael Bay's innovative use of IMAX cameras will create a spectacular cinematic adventure for moviegoers next summer," added Greg Foster, Chairman and President of IMAX Filmed Entertainment. "We're very excited to be integrated as a core part of the Transformers production, and with the skilled marketing and distribution teams at DreamWorks and Paramount, the timing is ideal given our expanding global audience and network footprint."
The IMAX release of this movie was previously mentioned in IMAX Corporation's second quarter results press release on August 7.

Another inncident on set for Shia (http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=79957296&blogID=439097784):
Talk about a misunderstanding. While the slogan for Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen (2008) remains to be, "More than meets the eye," Shia LaBeouf remembers it as, "Eye meet prop."
Make that two injuries for Shia LaBeouf in the course of a year. As reported by TMZ, the actor got smacked in the eye with a prop on set.
While the injury could have been serious, Shia LaBeouf is walking away from the incident with a nice set of new stitches just below his eyebrow. Which eye, they don't say.
According to the report, Shia LaBeouf made a quick return to the Transformers set after getting sewn up. Accident prone, sure, but at least he's tough.
From SuperHeroHype.com (http://www.superherohype.com/news/transformersnews.php?id=7698)
TMZ reports that Shia LaBouf was injured by a prop on the set of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The site says he got a cut below his eyebrow that required stitches. It states, "After getting sewn up, he went right back to work. Injured hand, injured eyebrow -- no problemo."
