One reason we haven't seen Richard Albert this season is because he's on a new show entitled "Cane" but after seeing this article, Richard could possibly return for a few episodes.

Thanks to Flyingv for the info.
The network's crime dramas and its Friday lineup also are expected to return by the end of March, while things don't look good for action series "The Unit" and the new Jimmy Smits drama "Cane," whose time slots had been taken over by "Big Brother" and "Jericho." The producers of "Cane" were informed Sunday night that the network won't be ordering more segments for this season, while its future beyond May is yet to be decided.

Would be :censored: awesome! But shouldn't they have all the contracts before the season?
I'm beginning to wonder if we'll see anything of the others going to 'the temple' this season

I can't see Richard returning this season even if he wasn't working on Cane anymore. The only reason we saw a lot of him in Season 3 was because it was focusing on the others where as this season seems to be focusing on the future and the freighter people, Richard will only appear if he is part of the freighter story.

Well it'd be interesting to see him back, but unless theres a storyline then what the point really.
I;d like to see his age explained, but if they can do it with out him,in a way that makes sense, then why not.

I didn't think it was cancelled, just on hold because of the strike. They said no more episodes this season, but not cancelled... unless you heard something I didn't, Deb ;)
But if they're not making any more episodes this season, I see no reason why they couldn't let him come back to Lost for a bit. I know Damon and Carlton have to condense the storyline for this season, but if I were them, I'd grab him up any time he's available.

well, the post said it's future is undecided. i honestly got bored with Cane after the 2nd episode.
but yeah, if they can snag him back in the future, maybe once they get back to the others and the temple... i mean, they can't just mention it and not get back to explain it... i hope

I think they said they "parked" Richard's storyline for now, because the Cane people wouldn't let him out to appear on Lost. I'm just worried that Cane will go on for three more years, and they won't have a chance to bring him back.

Damon and Carlton recently stated on the Entertainment Weekly interview that Nestor Carbonell will be coming back. For how long/many episodes we don't know yet. i think its on the main page too

Cassandra: What about Cane?
Cane will not be coming back to CBS. The good news is that this frees up Nestor Carbonell to appear more frequently on Lost as Richard Alpert.
