Yes I know Lost was not first, but it still won its timeslot and did pretty good. I think the problem was seven didn't promote Bones too well at 9.30pm, which is why RPA rated so good. Lets wait till next week and see what happens.

I was wondering what that episode was, when i saw the description about What happened on the other side of the island when the plane crashed. I thought it was the other 48 days. But i knew it was the two tales.

Well as long as it wins its timeslot, I'm happy.
I posted it in the old thread and the final got, 1.722. Guess there was a drop, hopefully it picks up.
Channel 9 seems to do well with people over 50 +. I'm shocked by the figures, I guess over 50's watch heaps of tv. Just look at the target audience figures below.

I forgot to suggest we name this thread Aust and NZ thread. But oh well.
Charmedlfreak that's great news. I flicked over during the LOST commercial break to RPA and saw the biggest tumour being cut. I recall those types of shows going really well. And the 50+ people really like Mike Munro.
I'm just happy that Australia gets to see LOST now...even though I have already seen them.
charmedlfreak

I agree about changing it, I tried to change the title, but it just changed my post but not the whole thread.
I guess the 50 + must like Mike Munro. I cant stand medical shows, except seeing it on Lost with Jack, thats enough for me.
I kinda liked watching it on tv too, it fells different watching it on tv than a download.

The 50+ people LOVE Mike Munro. He hosted their favourite show "This is your life".;)
Yeah, Lost on TV is good. I think it is because the ads add to the suspense. The
"other" way is just one intense moment after the other and there really is no time to digest any of it .
charmedlfreak
02-17-2007, 12:03 AM
And the reason they love Bert, who I so dont get why hes still on tv, and hes like over 60.
I noticed that too. On tv you get the ads add to the suspense, but when I watch it downloaded I feel differently. Perhaps I might feel differently about an episode when I see it on tv.
Pauli27
02-17-2007, 12:24 AM
Don't get me started on Bert. He is annoying!
I love that when Lost is on TV, you have to be there at that time or you'll miss it. And you sit in front of the TV 10 minutes early and get really excited. But the "other" way, you can play it whenever you want.
Thanks for the ratings update. I love this one, it's the biggest age group.

No one said anything about Australian ratings impacting on how well it goes in the US. We live in Australia, so it was just good to talk about how well it went here.
No kidding "all the shots" are called from the US.....

i reckon that's pretty unfair! I mean we get heaps of ratings here and if the added it all up it would be enough to keep it going for 10 seasons!

Yeah! I agree Mrs_Dom! They should pay more attention to the Australian ratings! It's one of the most popular shows here! Oh, and speaking of which I have just created a new fan!
I conned my new housemates into watching S1 with me! (I put it on the TV during dinner and they had no choice but to watch it) anyway one of them has really gotten into it and hasn't stopped watching my lost DVD's since I put it on! :D :w00t:

GAH!!! :( Only no. 10? That's a little disappointing! I thought it was doing better than that! Hopefully nationally it was better! :(
I think Seven's whole promotional approach has a few flaws which can be blamed too...(ie the focus on the love triangle!) it's driving away the action/adventure seeking male audience! :blank: Their promotion for Glass Ballerina is just terrible! It's a really action packed episode and all that ad shows is the skate kiss! It's ridiculous! Hardly going to rake in the male viewers is it? *shakes head*

Hmmm that's ok :shifty: but it really shouldn't be beaten by that reality stuff and the NEWS!!! I guess Australia is an aging population and they like shows like RPA and missing person's unit! I actually had both my housemates sit down and watch Lost with me so that at least is a victory! (I had to promise not to give anything away though! :giggle:) but I guess it is second episode back...this is probably the sort of ratings we should be expecting from now on! :(

Well those ratings are okay.
It looks like the over 50's have given up on Lost, since they have the highest commercial share and looks like love Nine and RPA/Missing Persons Unit.
But Fotty Show will be back next month so RPA will be gone. Fotty Show hasn't really been a really huge ratings hit as it was years ago.
My family does watch Lost with me too. Funny thing that Lost was a show they actually wanted to watch. My mum sorta hasn't seen in in ages, but wanted to watch it this week and enjoyed it.
What Australia watched Sun 18-Say 24, week ending February 24

It's "Royal Prince Alfred" Hospital. It's a medical show that shows medical procedures. It's big with the 50+ crowd. According to the ratings.
I tuuned into that show and there was a huge tumour being removed.

The advertising for next weeks episode Every Man For Himself was so horrible, it was all are they on another Island, and thats it. They didn't show enough action, like Pickett beating up Sawyer and Kate screaming for Jack etc.
If it looses ratings, I wouldn't be surprised, the ads this week are horrible, they did well for this week episode, but then slacked off for next week.

I am fearing for Lost if the ratings keep slipping it could go like Nip Tuck here today gone tomorrow. Maybe not that bad they would finish off the season. I am really worried that they may not bring it back next season.
The main reason is because it is not giving us any answers and creating more. I think us Aussies are pretty patient but this is pushing us too far.
I love Lost but I don't think there is enough of us who do I would love to be able to tell the creators that they are blowing it!
I myself will keep watching and I hope that it doesn't get to the point of downloading the following seasons because of the ratings, my god look what shows are beating it.
I have seen up to 7 and read only about the other episodes and I can't see that the ratings will get better with what is coming up. I'll keep hoping though!

Sheesh! Those ratings are terrible! :( If this is how it's going to be for the rest of the season I don't think it will be coming back to our television screens next year! :( If only I was in a position of influence like a teacher or lecturer or something! I would do some subtle advertising to my students! :D
I think in a way seven's promotion is to blame but to be honest Lost is also partly to blame for not providing the answers the audience want! Have we learned why they wanted Jack/Kate/Sawyer/Hurley yet? well we learned why they wanted jack...kinda...and that's just one example!

I'm glad lost is back too and I'm not going to stop watching it ever, I'm just saying that there are a lot of people who are sick of waiting and they are turning to other shows, that's why ratings are starting to go down.
Most of my friends who used to watch lost gave up on it because they were sick of waiting for answers that they thought just weren't coming. Most people I've talked to off the forum think the writers don't know where they are going with it! This is one explaination for bad ratings.
Sorry if I sounded negative. I wasn't trying to be. :o

I think the main problem is advertising, seven have just been so slack this season. Unlike season 1/2 they went crazy with the ads. They are just too keen on seeing new shows like Ugly Betty etc. doing well. Happens all the time, once a show gets to season 3, 4, 5 etc. the networks slack off. This is why I really dislike aussie tv, they are just not like the USA. if a show suddenly does bad, they will just give up and muck around the times and delaying it.
But really to be beaten by Missing Persons Unit is just shocking. I mean that show hardly seems like quality tv to me. But you all know the over 50's watch the most tv and kill the ratings.
My friends always think that a successful show is a show that runs for years. I just dont get how people think age is better than quality in a show. But I can always win when I tell them but do they win awards, have a huge fanbase, be the second most watched show in the world, most downloaded show etc.

The advertising is definitely poor. I agree, they're too worried about Ugly Betty and Heroes to give a toss about Lost ads. And what about 24? After giving it the 8:30 slot in the premiere week for 2007, it's now on at about 10:30pm.

Same here, but if 7 stop Lost, then you get friends saying that show didn't last long, and then shows that in the US rate around 3-6 Million last 7 years, they say haha my show lasted long. But I dont care, I can always say but is the show good now than it was years ago.

I hate that too. Reason aussie tv sucks. I hate how they do things, if the ratings drop a bit, its gone or late timeslot.
Dont you think its time we get a new station. USA have like 5 commerical stations, we only have 3. It would be great, and maybe put a little bit of competition on ratings. Its been like 40 years since a new station came.
Plus more room for tv shows and shows can be given another chance.

Nine has really lost its power in recent years hasn't it? It used to be right up there but now only has a few key shows keeping it in the ratings at all.
We are huge CSI fans, which is about all we watch on nine, but both Vegas and Miami jumped the shark last week. We'll give them one more chance tonight but if it's anywhere near as bad as last week they're goners. :(
As long as Lost is aired somewhere in the world and there's an internet I'll keep watching. ;)

Dont watch anything on Nine and I mean nothing. There have been shows in the past I did watch on nine, but Nine has never had any programs that really interest me. Personally I think Nine only targets the over 50's and well it wins with them, probaly the reason Losts ratings are done and Missing Persons Unit beats Lost, the over 50's have given up on Lost.

Lots of people of that age I know stopped watching Lost after season 1. My manager doesn't watch it, he never caught onto it, he's mid 50s. My dad never caught onto it. His friends I spoke to don't watch it.
You're like me CharmedFreak, there is nothing on Channel 9 I watch. Only 60 minutes. It's the only show I watch, even that is losing it's power from a few years ago. I loved Jana Wendt on Sunday, but they fired her! And what is up with that 100 vs 1 with Eddie?! I used to watch Gilmore Girls on 9, but they didn't even bother with the 6th season.
What do you make of those ratings? From memory, it was at this point last season wasn't it? And it went up towards the end of the season.

My mum has given up, but still asks. Dad still watches it and loved it this week.
Yeah I used to watch Survivor sometimes on Nine, they took that off now. Too many cop shows on nine if you ask me, too much eddie and too much bert.
Yeah I think the ratings were like this last year, then they went up when the season was ending. But they always take a break after 6/7 weeks of episodes, they have done this for season 1 and 2. Still we will now be 4 weeks behind, since we started season 3 2 weeks later than normal.

Yeah a few of you are really overreacting about them taking Lost off next year, because of dropped ratings. I think you're just too used to seeing Lost's ratings being MEGA high here in Australia, and now that they're dropping slightly people are freaking out. Australia will continue to show Lost till the very end, guaranteed. I think the WORST thing that could ever possibly happen to it, would be Seven dropping it to a 9.30pm timeslot.
Just stop and think about it. Lost's ratings may have dropped somewhat, but it's still constantly making it into the Top 30 shows of each week. Lesser shows than that have been on FOR YEARS. Like the Law and Order shows for example -- they have been on air since I was small, and yet their ratings are never in the Top 30. And guess what? Law & Order still gets 8.30 and 9.30 timeslots every week!
So don't worry so much. Lost is still perfectly fine. It's usually always in the Top 10 shows each week (and always Top 30) so it's actually still doing very good as far as the Australian Ratings are concerned. It's safe, still a ratings-grabber by far.

Thanks for your opinion and input. CharmedFreak and I have been burnt by Australian screenings of shows in the past.
Every time I see the ad for episode 3.04, I think how could they put a spoiler in it!

seven have been fairly loyal to lost considering the ratings from last year.
they most likely included the spoiler in the adds so that people will join in, because they don't actually announce it.
aussie lost fans should start to get worried.
seven arent very loyal to their shows, they sell them out very easy ie; selling heelers for afl...even though nothing beats footy.
unfortunately seven put their money where it pays off, and with these ratings they will not see it paying off in lost

The News and alot of soapies always try to beat everything on aussie tv. Home and Away, McCloud's Daughters  don't care how i spelled it. I mean, it's alright for News. I guessing i'll stick to downloading after american/canadian episodies air. Since not alot of aussies tune in. Though i hope when the hurley episode that just aired in america, will hopefully bring Lost up in the ratings for Austraila TV on Seven. But i doubt it that much.

the bottom line is aussie's don't know whats happening on the show cos they never get to see it.
i watch channel 7 quite a bit (depserate housewives, heroes && prison break) and just at other random times, and the lack of adds for lost is pretty bad.
they focus on the shows that pull an audience ie; greys && ugly betty
sure that builds an audience for those shows, but meanwhile the shows that struggle have no hope of gaining a larger following as they are never promoting
&& yes i am an aussie that watches the episodes as they air in aus.
i get more than my daily fix needed with lost, watching atleast one season 1 or 2 episode a day...i can't help it :P

Anyway, I saw the national ratings in the paper the other day and Lost wasnt in the top ten for WA or the country:( (This was on premiere week too!)While im sad its not doing too well, quite frankly it needs to buck up and i really think this ratings dip has proved that to TPTB.
Its just a matter of whether its a matter of too little, too late for the audience:shifty:

I never downloded any Lost and watched every episode on tv until after Shannon died, during that 2-week break I downloaded for the first time and downloaded the next 2 episodes. I think I joined Lost forum during that time too.
I stopped downloading for sometime again. But season 3 I have downloaded every ep so far.

On a good note, paper today lists Lost as #18 in Melnourne for the top 20 shows of the week. I was thinking it would be lower. But its keeping the same figures and seems to always be in the top 20 it seems. So I guess it did worse in other states, which dragged it down to #27 overall.

Wow, so i guessing Lost which is basically all the characters of the show coming to austraila, has austrailan watchers have less faith in the show, poor claire, please think of the pregnant lady, oh and that cindy chick :giggle: . I suppose i predict that most of the austrailan watchers are female, because of Lost having abit of soap opera int. that's my deal. I don't know that alot austrailan males are very interesting in it. They most likely watch some more less confusing. I'm sure there is Prison Break. All i know is, i do hope hurley's upcoming episode will prove result rating challange, it might go up a two or one in the ratings, who knows. It seems reality tv like RPA, Dancing To The Stars are far important then people on the island looking all dopey and lost in thier lives. :p Well dopey and lost are kinda the same thing. kinda.

what is it? Aren't we good enough for the americans to come here and shoot a scene or two (atleast) here?
the costs for them to of shot the scenes in australia would be too great.
and alot of the flashbacks were taken place in australia and the episodes aren't created before they start shooting a season so they would be back and forth between countries.
also the filming costs would be far too great, they would probably get crew from here, but they would have to house the actors etc.
it is much easier for them to "mock" the aussie scenes in a studio.
the ratings for lost this week were pretty good considering shoddy advertising.
i'm not sure if they are aloud to use the us promotions?

Also what's the deal with these 2 new characters. Will we get an insight on them. I'm talking about the couple that seem to be part of the Losties.
Also after Eko's death this week, I realised there's only one Taillie left. I hope they kill Bernard too he's a pretty boring character.
At least Micheal didn't kill Eko, I guess I should be happy.
Honestly it's got to be a bird. Nothing else can really throw you around like that. And when you look at what happened to the Pilot.

There's a lot of discussion here on LF about the two new characters, Nikki and Paolo. I don't think much of them myself. Bring back Dr Arzt. ;)
Glad you enjoyed the Eko ep. I wasn't as sorry to see the passing of Eko as I was Ana-Lucia. Her death shocked my socks off.

Ekos death was probaly the worst death so far for all the regulars. It did nothing for me, at least Ana-Lucia's death was shocking and much more emotional for me.
The advertising for I Do was done pretty poor. I expected it to be huge. I really feel they are really making Lost look bad now.

Well its great to see the ratings have risen. Yep looks like death = ratings. Ana/Libbys death also rose the ratings alot last season.
Well I'm sure episode 3.13 that airs in the US next week, will really do well here too. I'm sure seven will advertise it as a not to be missed episode.

Oh yeah, very emotional for me too, Eko was a fantastic addition to Lost. Such a major character. His confession scene was quite moving. The man was on his knees.

bye lost, never knew yeah.
i just saw what seven are planning to do. Come On! Holidays don't even start until mid april(to my knowledge anyway). And already they're taking it off for two weeks.
No f'n way! Channel Seven you want to know why Lost is so low in ratings is because it's companies like you that keep on prolonging a good season you cause us to download and pirate episodes. The reason why no one is watching Lost is because most of the viewers have seen Lost S3 6 months ago.
And now i've had it! I am going to be downloading Lost now. I was willing to be patient. But after finding out about Lost going on hold for two weeks, you can go to hell! It's bad enough you delayed it two extra weeks for that Heroes crap, by the way that's going great isn't it?
I fell like exploding Seven with hate mail, but knowing them thyey'll probably just throw it in junk, cause every second word will be a swear word.
Tonights episode was a good episode for me, and has set a good cliffhanger from that preview I saw afterwards. I want to see how Sawyer and Kate get out of this. I want to see what happens to Jack. I want to see all the answers revealed. Most anyway.
I'm sick of waiting.

Damn, have to wait until easter for lost to come back, oh well back to later season new episodes. Which is good enough for me. And why do Lost have to have a break just because episode 6 seemed like a cliffhanger episode. which it is. I don't know mind seeing NIP again.
Damn cop shows. But i'm sure:
Desmond's episode
Hurley's episode
Sayid's episode
is going to be the best and build ratings.

I know how you feel! (Although US had to wait three months to see ep 7!:giggle: ) That was the whole reason why I turned to DLing in the first place! I was fed up of having to wait for Lost because of seven's scheduling!
I'm getting that way with Ten and Veronica Mars at the moment because it's currently on Fidays nights at 10:30pm (or whenever the friday night movie finishes) but the thing is, sometimes it's cancelled for motor car racing and Ten don't even bother to tell anyone when it's not going to be on! We don't even get teaser promo's for it! It's very frustrating! It makes me so mad! Seven are complete angels in comparison! At least they tell you when things are changing!
Anywayz, now that rant is over I will continue... DLing is great! there's no ads either! I still watch Lost on seven too, just to show my support (plus my housemate likes to have me there to explain what's going on!:giggle:)
How awesome was 3x13? :thud: Did anyone else nearly fall off their chair when Locke went out that window? Talk about shocking! Lost is just getting better and better! And any episode that features an explosion is 10/10 in my books!

Yeah its a pain they are taking a break, but it happens every year for 2 weeks. Lost will be back April 12th. But technically its still non-ratings season until the following week. So they may even drag it out a week later.
Infact we will get this weeks US episode around the time the US finish season 3. So wow thats a long wait.

Episode 3x13 was phenomenal.
They're just getting better and better right now, and I already loved it! :D
Just loved all the banter between Locke and Ben. The scene where we finally learned how John broke his back was amazing and I even liked the small and intimate exchange between Jack and Kate, despite the fact that I don't ship.

it is a ratings boost ploy.

i assume that we have stopped in the same place as the u.s did, perhaps it was contracted by losts end that there is a break inbetween episodes.

In New Zealand we are airing "Par Avion" next week.
i've gone the way of the download. I know it's not right, but I really wanted to catch up, I still work by a plan I've been watching 2 episodes a week, but after seeing episode 12: Par Avion, I kind of want to see where it leads I hear the latest is "one of us" So maybe I should catch up, I'm just worried that if I do, i'll be too discouraged later on when TV gets boring again, and the wait for Lost S4 turns out to be another year.
I really liked 11 and 12 this week. I feel like watching one more just to be safe that cliffhanger was quite interesting and I want to find out more.
by the way what is the best way to find downloads? I'm just using limewire.
Loubie lou

by the way what is the best way to find downloads? I'm just using limewire.
I reckon limewire is the way to go. Its easy, usually reliable (concidering you wait a couple of days so you get the right eppy:rolleyes: ) and pretty safe. If you want to you can check the download thread in the 'off site media' thread and try the megaupload site and you can get that within a short while of the ep airing.
There are also a couple others there but i prefer megaupload and limewire;)
charmedlfreak
04-15-2007, 03:38 AM
Well episode 13 is really good, however the cliffhanger is rather huge.
Yep I've used limewire alot for my downloads of tv shows, but I use the downloads links this forum provides in the Download section.
Yeah limewire links tend to be up a day or two after the eps air, I use this forums links for Lost and limewire for other tv shows download.
yeah I just saw no.13. I'm gonna catch up. It was an awesome episode. Man Lost is getting better again, this is the Lost I want to see. I feel like watching the next episode. Still it's a shame after "One of us" there will only be 6 episodes to go. So I could be just waiting again, when it's all over.
But hey Downloading could be an advantage for me later on for S4, i've decided to take a few months off again next year and travel.
charmedlfreak

Glad you enjoyed it, the next episodes are really good. You will like them.
Yeah its a shame only 6 episodes left. 7 since the final can be seen as two episodes, I just hope they dont go ahead and bring Lost back in January, thats a very long break, although we do wait that long for it to come back in Australia. The only good side to it, is I might not have to download, as we wont be that far behind the US, but I know I will end up downloading.
GirlyMum
04-17-2007, 08:00 AM
I resisted downloading for a while as it seemed morally wrong. But you consider ABC actually lets people download (in USA) from their site for free after it's aired then why should we be so disadvantaged because we happen to live overseas. It's a global village afterall isn't it?
Other advantages of the download... no ads! screencaps and multiple rewatches. :)

Can I just say how ****ed off I am with Channel 2 in New Zealand? "The Man From Tallahassee" is airing next week, and in the previews it shows Locke being pushed from the 8-storey building! That's one of the biggest shockers of the season, and they spoiled it in a 30-second preview!!!!

Hardercore: that's just sick. :thud: Someone should sue.
Also, to everyone downloading, please do not use Limewire. It hurts your computer. :( I've gone from one method to another and the best I've found, personally, is using a bittorrent engine - uTorrent. Just go to a website like http://www.torrentspy.com and search for "Lost," get the episode you want, download the torrent, open it up with uTorrent, and let the downloading commence.
Obviously I was kidding earlier about not using Limewire, that's your perogatives, but I'd suggest against it. It slows down your computer and does God knows what other bad things to it. I've yet to run into any problems with uTorrent (it slows down any internet-related activities, but only while it's running; turn it off completely and internet's back to full speed).
Hope that helps. :)

Hmm noticed my computer seems to slow down too, but uTorrents for me take ages, even with broadband it took me a whole day to download. Is this like BitTorrent, or is it similar.

Agreed, limewire is unreliable with a capital U.
There HAS to be some kind of intervention from somebody about this. That is the biggest mistake in ages. That's terrible news. I shake my head. That's really bad.

That NZ in-promo spoiler is insane. Did they show Ana getting shot by Michael in the 2x20 promo last year too? These spoilers just give far too much away. It's like the movie trailers now too. They often show all the gags or the best lines, and sometimes the final scene, in the trailer. Don't like it at all.
Speaking of Amazing Race (it's in the ratings above)... does anyone else watch it? I caught the first episode of the All Stars last weekend in it's encore presentation then forgot to watch on Thursday night, and I can't seem to find a DL anywhere (and I've just wasted two hours looking).

wow very cool, any ideas how to enter or when it ends?
oh my god Flashes Before your eyes was on this week for aussies. But you know there's something funny about this.
I just saw the second desmond episode of the season "Catch 22" How weird is that to be 8 episodes ahead and have the same character and more of his flashbacks, It's almost like you could of watched Lost this week, and then watch Catch 22, and it be like you wouldn't really miss a thing, and it be another Desmond double epsiode.
I just find it a coincidence.
I kind of hate it how I haven't seen Locke lately ever since his last episode. I'm really intirigued on what's happening on the other side, rather then what's happening with our losties. Get back to the good part, you know about the island rewarding Locke, and Locke's father showing up.
Pauli27

wow very cool, any ideas how to enter or when it ends?
Don't know when it ends, but Kate and Hughesy's ad comes up during Lost's ad breaks promoting the competition. They've run with the "Lost the plot" theme. They have a question during the breakfast show about what happened on Lost last night and if you win you're in the running to win cash and a trip to Hawaii to visit the set of Lost. Sounds great, but I couldn't be bothered SMSing during work.
Just skimmed through the T&C, and the competition ends May 4. And they take SMS answers and they pick a winner from that pile. Sounds like a jib to me.
On to this week's ep, I'm happy Channel 7 have advertised the episode better than US version. It doesn't include the "5 big mysteries".
charmedlfreak
04-24-2007, 09:22 AM
okay thanks. hmm wonder if I should enter or not.
Yeah the advertising this week is much better, I hope this does something for the show, but I dont think Lost will rate well this week, seeing as its up against the Biggest Loser final. Lost was #43 in the national top 100 last week, hopefully things pick up in the next weeks, when the episode gets so much better.
GirlyMum

You've got to laugh... when they focus on the Others people want to see the Losties, but when they stay with the Losties we miss the Others. :giggle:
charmedlfreak
04-25-2007, 06:19 PM
Yeah I know. People want a balance of both, and they only way it could ever work well is if there were no flashbacks in an episode. But I did get sick of the others for the first 9 episodes, but I'd like to see both camps at once.
I dont have much faith that tonights episode will rate well, like I said before its up against biggest loser final. But I'm hoping for a rise in the next weeks episodes. Anyone watch Loser?
GirlyMum
04-28-2007, 01:30 AM
No, don't watch Loser.
The Jack ep that aired in Oz this week was my least favourite of the season to date. Although there were a couple of interesting moments, like when Jack saw Cindy, the flight attendant from 815, and some of the kids from his cage.
I wonder how it rated?
charmedlfreak
04-28-2007, 06:57 AM
Loser killed the ratings and got 2 Million. All other networks were down. Lost got under 1 Million, its lowest figures ever. But it will all go back to normal next week, its because of Loser final it was down.
Good news Lost beat Nine in its timeslot. Hopefully this is a good thing and it will be higher next week.

I don't like the Biggest Loser because of the unhealthy methods they use in weight loss. But the finale was quite inspiring. They had the before and after pictures and it was actually addictive viewing. It was my first time after a quick channel surf and I could totally see how so many people watched it!
Thanks for the Aussie ratings. Lost ratings will pick up, I can feel it. I have actually been telling most people I know that the next weeks are beyond excellent!

It is exciting to think about, but I don't like the chances of having one here in Australia, let alone Perth. (Been to Perth, love it, great scene...).
And I think if the show goes for some more seasons, the chances would continue to grow. I mean, the Buffy convention in Melbourne (my uni I graduated from helped sponsor) a few years ago was set up and it was when Buffy as a show was ending. It took them 7 seasons to get a proper convention up and organised.
Right now, we'll just have to settle for the odd cast member to come to Sydney and do the traditional Harbour Bridge Channel 7 promo shot.

Yeah I remember the Buffy conventions, I almost was going to go, I couldn't believe a Buffy convention was happening.
wow great that your uni sponsored it.
Yeah we should settle for the odd promo shot. But I mean if they come her to promote, surely they can have one organised. If all the Aussie fans did something like a petiton. I mean even get help from Seven, which I doubt it. But it could help ratings, if theres a comp invovled.
But yeah sadly its probaly gonna be ages. I kinda feel like poor Australia gets left out, the only other country that gets attention is the UK, they get a convention, so its out turn next.

WOULD NOT BE SUPRISED! ;) I can see it now. Channel 7 breaking it up to stretch 8 months. Who knows, they probably won't begin to air Lost until maybe May!
In regards to the ratings, it's great news. The people I spoke to about "Tricia" in my building said they really enjoyed it and that it's the best this season. I must also say, My Name is Earl has helped Lost achieve some ratings. It's a great lead in show for Lost.

05-07-2007, 06:04 AM
Yeah considering theres only 16 episodes, seven wont want it on-air for just 4months a year. I bet it wont start in February, the earliest I reckon is after Easter or May like you said.
Its great to hear people enjoyed it, I'm really happy with these figures and had a feeling they would go up, these next few weeks should be good.
I agree it is a great lead-in for Lost. Lets hope for more viewers.

Channel 7 would be stupid not to air the final 3 season's eps at the same time as this US, what with them starting in Feb, because that way all the serious lost fans (who at the moment are DL'ing because Ch7 are 3 months behind )would actually go back to watching them on TV again = increased ratings for them.
Of course, this seems way too obvious for them to understand:(
I have always found it disappointing that an unfolding mystery like Lost, which has an enormous internet following, cannot be shown at the same time around the world. Star Wars managed to do it, why can't Lost?
charmedlfreak
05-07-2007, 08:15 PM
Well I would be happy with not DL and watching same time as the US. Plus we would be airing Lost the same day basically, as there Wednesday is our thursday, so we would be only hours behind, would work perfect for the series final.
what's going on here? I find it hard to keep up.
I just realised there are 3 episodes left of this season. I'm curious is there a chance the US will manage to show the last 3 before the summer break.
I don't know how their system works too much but I hear most schools get like a summer vacation for 3 months. And the school year for them starts in August.
I really don't want them to put on a delay.
By the way which side are you guys watching.
I saw Episode 19: The Brig this week.
And I reckon it's the best episode this season. You will be very suprised with the character development especially with these two.....
Locke and Sawyer.

The Brig was a great episode.
I'm excited to have three more easons of Lost, even if there are only 16 episodes in each. But I wouldn't trust an Aussie network to air them at the same time as the US.
Remember Survivor on 9? There were only one or two seasons where 9 aired the episodes within 2 days of the US episode. Now we are back to waiting months (or never getting the season at all).

I haven't bought any of the DVDs yet. I'll wait for the super-dooper extra special set with all the amazing extras (OK, I can hope can't I!?).

Damn straight it most definitely has been. Answers everywhere! It just blows Season 2 away for sure. I feel like it's up there with season 1. It's been an excellent top notch season. People throw rocks at the first 6 episodes, but in my eyes, they were superb.
I feel slightly sad that such a great show is limited to only 16 episodes per season. But alas, bring on the finale!!

I hope we do get info on dom and evi coming soon, I hope its Melbourne, I'd love to meet them in person.
Yeah this season has been great, I loved the story, answers, big shocks like Suns pregnancy storyline and her fate, Lockes father, Charlies fate, Jacob, Naomi all have added to a great season.
But these last weeks have been a heck of a ride, and theres alot of great story telling, I cant believe people can not watch it.
Yeah I'm a little sad about there only being 16 episodes, I just prefer full seasons to be honest. I wouldn't have minded two more full seasons. But I'll deal.
I'm so excited for the final, plus I'm watching a massive 2-hour episode, 1 and 1/2 hours sitting for download watching.
Yeah I'm worried about Lost on seven, some state have it at 9.30pm, I worry it will end up being that way for all shows. I do hope Lost wont suffer a ratings drop, but then again fotty show is barely cracking the 1 million mark at 9.30pm, so it could fare. But since next season is only 16 eps, I fear seven will just leave it for later, since its a shorter season. They are too mean and wont air it same time as US, which would get better figures I'd say, nobody will download.

I've noticed that Lost seems to be increasing week-by-week, I haven't seen a drop at all since it came back from the break. Not counting SIASL which was up against loser final, but all other networks were down, so that was a one-off.

channel 7 really need to find a way to promote the show properly.
they really aren't doing it justice, like they don't do many of their shows.
shows 7 support are basically beautiful sunday ones and home and away.
they gave up on heelers which got me annoyed.
i really think they need to employ us aussie lost forum members, we know how to hook people in!

They moved to 9:30 here in SE Queensland. I wonder if they only moved Heroes because of State of Origin, or will it stay that way?
I also have Aussie friends blown away by The Man from Tallahasee but I told them "just you wait". :D

Yep its only because of State of Origin. I hope its not gonna stay this way or Seven move all states to this slot. Lost at 9.30pm wont work, It just will loose viewers.

if the time slot continues to stay like that and it moves to all states it could be bye bye lost after season 4 i think.
seven always move their shows to a later slot when they aren't doing as well as they want them to.
charmedlfreak
05-25-2007, 07:24 PM
Yeah I think so, once they move it to 9.30pm, I just know its going to loose ratings.
Whats up with seven, I hate it when they treat shows good for a few seasons, and slack off for the last few and give it a later slot.
Thats my one problem with Aussie tv, I really dislike the programming here, no offence, but America at least treat shows with respect for viewers.

I so agree. I really am not a fan of the programming in Australia. Nine just deal with over 50's, ten just like reality tv and seven just care about ratings.

Yeah 7 spoiled the ending of the next episode. If The Brig doesn't get good promotion by 7, I will be mad. I hope they use alot of big drama scenes instead of just saying that one mystery is solved. The promos are too much on mysteries, hidden clues etc. and not enough drama, action etc. in them.

I still watch on TV. I quite like watching it on TV again. Rewards come with repeat viewings of any Lost episode.
But I agree GirlyMum, the spoiler ads annoy me. A few weeks ago, the promo for One of Us had Ben's voice over from the end scene! It was just ridiculous! It ruined the big reveal that Juliet was playing the Losties.
And just last week, the ad for D.O.C had Naomi's reveal that "there were no survivors of Flight 815" Why would they put the shocking final words in the promo?! However, towards the airing of that episode, I didn't see that promo on TV much.
And this week for The Brig! The promo has A shot of Sawyer with the voice over "What could drive this man to murder?"

^Thanks for the news:) .
I read in the paper that that new Navy/Sea Patrol/Sailor (?:eh: ) TV show was going great guns in the ratings. It apparantly was the biggest opener for an Aussie drama in YEARS! I can see why it was so popular, Lisa McCune was in it and as we know the older age group love her. I didn't get into it. I watched The Brig and it was just fantastic to watch all over again. Even after all the repeat viewings, I still shed a tear and Josh's scenes were still heartbreaking to watch.

Ilsa Lund - Hi, I read that article in the paper this morning. Its interesting how people seem to be getting really irritated with Jack ! No comment ! There was one in the Sunday Age TV guide with a comment along the lines of "Jack is stunned to find out that not many people like him much .........!".
I can't believe its finishing next week and we then have to wait until February. Thats assuming they show it here then, which will pretty much put us in line with the U.S. It probably seems longer because in previous years it has started back in the U.S. in September so we've never had to wait that long !
