Well surely is great the fact that they transported a comic on the screen like it is really a comic: I mean, every scene is really well studied to rensemble a comic page... Also little things like the way coats are moved by wind... (And it's absolutely great when Eljah Wood's glasses in the dark are completely white, exactly like in the comics :D)...
This said IMO the movie has some problems in stories... For example it seems the part with Mickey Rourke they have "cutted the corners" too much, and Mickey Rourke... was too much time he didn't act... Also in the great part of action scenes for me they cutted the corners too much...
However the story with Bruce Willis is good, he acts well... Also Benicio Del Toro is great and Jessica Alba is very hot...

True. Now MOST movies rely on computer effects, tried formulas, cliches, and big names.

Producers, directors, and executives need to go back to originality, talent, and innovation.

One of the greatest reasons why the great part of the movies I like are from the past is that.
My favorite director overall is Alfred Hitchcock, a great master in "not overexplain" his movies. I think "The Birds" is one of the greatest examples of that.

Now, let's see... surely one that leaves great mistery around his movies is David Lynch, one of my favorite living directors...
