The past few years have really dropped me. While never really big on too many films older than the 70's, I was always really up to date on the current stuff till a few years back when I stopped going to the theater as often nor renting as many flicks. So a lot of "new classics" so to speak I still haven't seen.

Absolutely dismal considering I'm a film and TV student...I gotta say some of the films on that list are hardly quality films though...Spiderman? The Sixth Sense? Puh-leez! I can say I've seen most of the "classics" though! ;) Too bad I'm not a "pop" movie goer or I might've done better! Ah well! Guess I've got some renting to do! ;)
^and Jenni! ITA! Films these days aren't worth the money it costs to go see them! I haven't been to the cinema in over a year! Much better viewing on television now...and it's free! (mostly)

This quiz seriously eats it, I mean are these films even worth a mention on the quiz?
American Beauty
Donnie Darko
The Incredibles
Magnolia
The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring
The Matrix
The Princess Bride
Requiem for a Dream
Sin City
Spiderman
Toy Story
They're good but I don't know about you, I never found them THAT great, they're nowhere near films like Rear Window, Sunset Blvd., Once Upon a Time in the West, and Chinatown.

Only Donnie Darko away from 100%.
Which is funny because I can think of at least three occasions when my selection of which-movie-to-watch came down to Donnie Darko or some other movie ... and the other movie won (usually because amidst the praise for DD, there is interspersed a review by someone who REALLY hated it, which scares me off).
While I think this QUIZ did a pretty good job covering a wide-variety of genres, as well as mixing in both critically acclaimed films with box office favorites ... I think it may have been a little weak in it's "classics". Surely more than two movies made before the 1970's are worthy of aiding in the lists purported claim to identify "movie Buffs"?

My thoughts exactly. There's more to movies than just Spider-Man and Lord of the Rings. I've been watching a lot of classics lately and I feel like I'm starting to understand the art of film much better than I thought, it's really refreshing.

Your Movie Buff Quotient: 96%

You are a movie buff of the most obsessive variety. If a movie exists, chances are that you've seen it.
You're an expert on movie facts and trivia. It's hard to stump you with a question about film.
...But I think it is very easy to stump me with a question about film. I'm not sure how I missed this thread, it's been here a while. This quiz reminds me to go and watch Gone with the Wind.:blank:

Wow, one movie off 100%. Which means you sat through Magnolia. :) Donnie Darko I think is one of those love it or hate it movies. I know lots of people who have hated it with a real passion. But I actually really loved it - I haven't seen it for a while so I don't know if I have "grown out of it". Someone actually posted somewhere that Donnie Darko is like Lost in that it does your head in.:D

I was still in the first few years of marital bliss at the time. Compromise is a forgiveable offense within the first 5 - I was allowed to maintain my "Man Card".:giggle: Now I have to watch (or at least sit through) movies that my kids select. High School Musical, etc....

That's a good enough recommendation for me!
