the story:
Set against the backdrop of civil war and chaos in 1990's Sierra Leone, Danny Archer, a South African mercenary, and Solomon Vandy, a Mende fisherman are joined in a common quest to recover a rare pink diamond that can transform their lives. While in prison for smuggling, Archer learns that Solomon--who was taken from his family and forced to work in the diamond fields--has found and hidden the extraordinary rough stone. With the help of Maddy Bowen, an American journalist whose idealism is tempered by a deepening connection with Archer, the two men embark on a trek through rebel territory, a journey that could save Solomon's family and give Archer the second chance he thought he would never have.

I watched it last week, it's a pretty good movie, but I don't know, I felt there was something missing just don't know what. Still, Leo and Djimon were great in it!

I saw the movie last weekend with a friend. accent
It is a brilliant movie. The best of 2006.
It has a very serious subject. Leo gives an amazing performance. I was shocked by this movie - it opens your eyes of what is happening in Africa (I cried a lot).
I am very proud of Leo that he did this movie. I wished this movie would be more recognized by the public and critics.
It is sad that that it is not nominated for best picture at the oscars. But I am so happy that Leo got nominated. He is breathtaking. My friend who saw the movie with me, lived in Africa for 6 years. She said that Leo's accent was totally correct for a white african person (people who are critizing him about the accent, they have no idea). She said, nobody could have done it better.

It is a really important movie (not just an action movie).
My friend and I think that this movie should be shown also in schools (for older students), because it shows the real world.

WATCH THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!

I absolutely agree with you. This movie is amazing- it's very touching and important. It's not just an Indiana Jones kind of adventure story, but it has depper meaning. I hope it will open our eyes to what is happening in Africa.
Leo did a really good job and I'll keep my fingers cross for him at the Oscars night.

I've seen the movie 2 days ago.I think is really good and I'd like more hollywood movies about such important subjects,I like when I watch a movie like this because apart from being a good movie it makes you think. The cast was amazing expecially Di Caprio and Honsou. The only bad thing was the "romantic" aspect, expecially at the end I think it doesn't really fit into the story.

I thought it was a brillant movie & yeah it really opens your eyes to the suffering that is goingon in Africa. Leo Di Caprio was amazing in it, he should have gotten an award for his performance

I've watched this movie three times already and the more I see it the more I love it. It is so amazing- the story, characters (Leo  ), music, beautiful african landscapes. This is definitely the best movie since "Braveheart".

I loved this movie, I rented it last week and I think it's really amazing.

How the movie presents the political and social crisis and the diamonds conflict it's pretty good. I love Leo in this movie, I think it's one of his best movies, he totally takes over his character :D

I saw it a while back when it first came out on DVD, and personally thought that it was actually pretty good. A few parts in the middle got a little boring and seemed to just drag on, but everything else was spectacular. It was a really touching story on top of all of that too.

After seeing Leo Dicaprio in this and the Departed almost subsequently, my opinions about him as an actor have really changed on a positive level. He is amazing in both films and might even be one of my favorite actors at the moment now.

I finally got the movie the other night and just got through watching it a little while ago.
Yes it really does open your eyes to the terrible, indescrible (not enough words here to describe) things that take place in Africa. It's really a tear jerker of a movie. For those who have a heart and understand the magnitude of the lives that have been taken.
I don't even know what to say right now. I suppose I should collect my thoughts and then talk about how I feel about the movie.

Dicaprio and Djimon were extraordinary in that movie. Great acting, great story. Well deserved Oscar nominations (did it win anything?)

I totally agree with you! I've also seen both "Blood Diamond" and "The Departed" and I was blown away with Leo's amazing performance!
Blood Diamond showed the sad truth about the diamond industry and wars going in Africa and Leo's role was truly amazing! Djimon was really touching and awesome!

Great movie and beautiful story!

An intense but great movie.

I think Djimon Hounsou was fierce in his performance. Him trying to get back his son was incredible.
