I couldn't believe there wasn't one already! It's my favorite show. When I was depressed it got me through. Stephen Spielberg said it got him through the very depressing filming of Shindler's List.

:w00t: Yayy, Anita. There was a thread for this last year, but it's probably been archived by now. Good for opening up another one. Seinfeld is my all time favorite sitcom. It's on 3 times a day, and as long as I can, I watch it 3 times a day. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I'm one of those who consider Seinfeld the best sitcom of all time, bar none. Now show has ever made me laugh as much as this one, and I never tire of watching them.

I was wrong, it's only one non-specific Texan in this one. The Houston Bastards is another one.

I never watched the show until it ended. Some folks at work got me into it. I think Jerry is the worst actor/comedian I have ever seen, but the show works (my opinion only!). Kramer cracks me up. And I have a whole new appreciation for George after seeing "Curb your enthusiasm" a while back (he's basically a sitcom version of Larry David)

Best lines/running gags I have seen so far:

Oh, and by the way...they're real, and they're spectacular!! (UN'd to me by Rachel!)

Not that there's anything wrong with that. (Found it's way into Rachel's sig!)

The Soup Nazi is definitely one of my favorites.
Also, TWIX, when Jerry goes to get a 'deal' from Puddy. ( not sure of title)
And of course, my absolute favorite, The Jesus Fish."You stole my Jesus Fish dintcha?"
I absolutely love Puddy. :D

I love Seinfeld, but I've never really made an effort to watch it like I have Lost... I only caught on to it after it ended.

I saw one the other day where they parked the car in the handicapped spot, and when they came back a handicapped lady had to use the ramp and fell back off her chair as a result.

"She must be one of those spoiled handicapped people!" :D

Seinfeld is the greatest sitcom of all time. If not purely because its the only sitcom that never had to rely on soap opera antics or decline in writing quality. They just wrote what they thought would be hilarious. It was just four neurotic people who could entertain you so much, with so little. Haha, it was brilliant. They could form an entertaining episode out of the fear of using someone elses tooth brush. Which sounds impossible. lol.

The guy who plays Puddy has voiced so many characters throughout animation series that i couldnt count them. Family Guy is his most notable role. I also saw that new series hes coming out with. I love David Spade, so I'm gonna check it out.

I just had to go to IMDB, because I had no idea who Puddy was. Now I remember him from Seinfeld.

He was great in MIB2. Was in the short lived "The Tick" live action show. I've seen or heard him in other stuff. He's pretty cool.

YES!:w00t: I have found it on tbs tonight. It's not on fox because of football. Right now is the "Marine Biologist."

George:
At that moment I was a marine biologist.
The sea was angry that day my friends.
Like an old man trying to send back soup in a deli.
I got about 50 ft. out and suddenly the great beast appeared before me.
I tell ya he was 10 stories high if he was a foot.
As if sensing my presence, he let out a great bellow.
I said, "EASY" big fella.
And then, as I watched him struggling,I realized something was obstructing it's breathing.
From where I was standing I could see directly into the eye of the great fish.

Jerry: Mammal

George:
Whatever.

Then from out of nowhere, a huge tidal wave lifted me,tossed me like a cork and I found myself right on top of him face to face with the blowhole. I could barely see from the waves crashing down on me, but I knew something was there, so I reached my hand in, felt around and pulled out the obstruction.

Kramer: Is that a titeist? Hole in one.:D

You sold me a hair with a cake around it. :giggle: (I just love Elaine!)

OMG!!!!!! I love Seinfeld so much and I didn't even know there was a thread dedicated to it! It is the funniest show EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was watching The Dinner Party episode last night as well. Actually, it is my favorite episode. i was so happy when it was on. and when i came on Lost Forum, you guys were talking about it! what a coincidence.

i noticed another coincidence too................When George and Kramer were double parked by Saddam Hussein, George said, "People who double parked should be executed."   isn't that weird?:eh:

Anyway, back to Seinfeld. My favorite episodes are the ones that take place in "real time" and are about nothing. like the dinner party and the chinese restaurant. but i also love the episodes that don't take place in real time like The Hamptons and The Soup Nazi!! :giggle: Here are my top favorites:

1. The Dinner Party - BIg coat!! BIg coat!! it's gortex:giggle:
2. The Chinese Restaurant - 5-10 minutes :giggle:
3. The Parking Garage - THe fish will die, you do know that! they can't live in plastic! it's not me talking...it's science!!
4. The Soup Nazi
5. The Subway - i love it when Elaine is screaming and cursing here!
6. The Parking Space
7. The Hamptons - There's lobster in these eggs?! Not a lot...they tend to shrink in the water.
8. The Invitations - toxic glue commonly found on cheap envelopes:giggle:
9. The Airport
10. The Susie - You are a huge part of the problem. but, at it's core I feel that this is a Susie and Elaine problem that needs a Susie and Elaine solution. so who better to do that then...........Elaine and Susie, Susie and Elaine.
11. The Kiss Hello - Will you be coming tommorrow? Well, it's less than 24 hours...so i guess i have to!

i know there are a lot more that I love, but these are the ones that really stand out.

Anita, I have to say that I agree with Rachel. The later episodes are the best. i think seinfeld just got better and better with each season.

the funniest epi from season 1 was The Robbery. the rest were just okay. like The Stakeout and The Stock Tip. The Pilot (Good News, Bad News) and Male Unbonding was just okay also.

Also, I don't really like Kramer in Season 1. in Male Unbonding, this was where he first got the idea of making a place where people can make their own pizza. well, if you remember Kramer, his hair was flatter back then and he still hadn't developed his famous "walk in". Kramer definitely got better and funnier as time went on. :)

Season 2 definitely got better. this season is where we got The Chinese Restaurant and The Phone Message which I love. but i still don't LOVE some of the other season 2 epi's.

my favorite season would have to be Season 7 even though my favorite epi is in season 5. :p

anitab
01-13-2007, 11:28 PM
I thought it got better and better the first four seasons and then started going downhill. It was still the best show on TV. Also, it seemed to me like the less they had to work with, the more creative they were. When the show got successful and started getting money for new sets and stuff, it seems like they did fewer funny things. Someday, we'll all have to go through and rate each of our top 20 or something and post our lists.

Tonight I got The Wink. "Yeah, that'd be nice."

I know, the DVDs have that blooper with him trying to say it and everyone keeps laughing. They said all his lines where he hesitates, he was actually trying to remember the lines. It probably didn't help that everyone was always on the verge of laughing, especially Julia.

That one is funny. She's hilarious. I love how she says 'pappy-ay' mache'.

I have "The Doll". Susan has a doll that looks like George's mother. Kramer and Frank play pool in George's ridiculously small room. Jerry is annoyed by Kathy Griffin (who isn't?). Elaine tries to get an autograph from 'the other guy' of the Three Tenors for The Maestro, who puts his pants on at the last minute.

george's girlfriend from The Truth is the same person who plays Alma on Desperate Housewives right now. in Desperate Housewives she is really really creepy.... i mean really creepy:eh:

do you guys watch Desperate housewives, rachel and anita?

well, if you do, have you noticed that many people on the show have a Seinfeld background? like
Teri Hatcher (they're real and they're spectacular!),
Marcia Cross (pimple popper M.D.),
Ian's butler from DH ( played Mr. Pitt),
Alma from DH (george's gf),
and the narrator for the show Mary Alice Young ( Sue Ellen Mishky the braless wonder)

No, I haven't watched it. My daughter-in-law keeps trying to get me to watch it, but I have only seen one whole episode in German. Ha! Yeah, I did notice all those people except I didn't know Mr. Pitt was in it. ABC really has cashed in on ex-Seinfeld people including John O'Hurley.

One of the last episodes I saw was "The wait out". It's the one where Kramer wants to prove he can still wear jeans. The jeans are much to tight preventing him from sitting down, walking normal, well.... pretty much anything. The scene with Mickey at the audition is so funny, when he (once again) attacks Kramer for not sitting down. Also the scene with Jerry trying to get Kramer's jeans off is hilarious.

Yeah I notice it during the first season of Desperate Housewives with Marica, Teri, and Brenda Strong who plays Mary Alice they have something in common and what a small world and now there are guest stars appearing on the show as well...

Two weeks ago I have seen the Sue Ellen and George's Girlfriend episodes on tv...

Blossom, yeah every time something happens in RL, me and my kids say 'that's a Seinfeld episode!'. Same with Friends. I had a boyfriend back when the show was still on who couldn't decide whether he wanted me long term :eh: and when George and Susan broke up, the way George was acting was just like him.

Nicole, if you ever get the DVDs, it tells how each character came about and how they were cast. George is Larry David, Kramer is actually a friend of Larry's named Kenny Kramer, and Elaine is a composite of several of Larry David's exes and female friends.

Yes i was just about to post that! Yet another person on Desperate Housewives who has a Seinfeld past!! :eh: i should keep a list or something :)

I agree...

Here is a few to add to the list I know there is more...

Alec Mapa as Paul in the episode The Pool Guy asking Jerry about Ramon... (Desperate Housewives as Vern)
Kathryn Joosten as Besty The Warden in the episode The Little Jerry Lynette's neighbor / babysitter Karen McCluskey...

And also some of the guest stars from Seinfeld also guest star and star on Friends ...

Courtney Cox episode The Wife as Meryl
Jon Lovitz episode The Scofflaw as Gary on Friends episodes The One with the Blind Dates and The One with the Stoned Guy as Steve

The Van Buren Boys is on tonight cannot wait to watch it...

Bruce Davison as Wyck the foundation president is the only Lost (In episode Dave as Dr. Brooks) guest star that has appeared on Seinfeld I could be wrong maybe there is more...

George: I think we're all aware of the flaws and biases of standardized tests.
Wyck: These aren't standardized tests, these are his grades

The Apology is my number one favorite that guest stars James Spader as Jason "Stankey" Hanke ...

George goes to Hanke's job at Baskin-Robbins he gets angry with George and goes inside of the ice cream freezer and looks for the ice cream "What are you looking at can't you see that we are close"...

Elaine's coworker is phobic of her germs Peggy:"You seem to sleep with a lot of men"

George: I'm not here for rage, I'm here for revenge.

(getting mad at an anger management class)
George: Am I talking to you Pinhead?

"Twix is the only candy bar with the cookie crunch! "

I love when George says" They all have swirling chocolate in the commercial!"

and of course "TTWWIIIIIIIIIIIIIIXXXXX"

Anita I just read what you posted up there. ^^^ You and your latex plants. Funny stuff. :D

Tonight I have "The Fix-Up" where Jerry and Elaine fix George up with a woman. Another good one!

Elaine: "And he's so strong. He can lift a hundred pounds right over his head"

Anita I've been thinking...what is a latex plant? Isn't it fake? And if so, why are you going to them? :D

Latex is synthetic rubber. It's basically butadiene which is a petroleum product and you combine it with other things to make different grades of rubber. It's a chemical plant. That's why I giggle to myself.

Jerry: "Vandelay Industries. What's that?"

George: "You're in latex."

Jerry: "What do I do with it?"

George: "You-you manufacture it."

Elaine: "Right here in this little apartment?"

I tried to find some pics of a latex plant but I can't find any on the net. Guess cuz of terrorism.

Anita! :giggle: I know what latex is, but I was wondering why you were going to them. I guess to dust them. Sorry. I must never mention latex again. :o

Dust? What are you talking about? :giggle: I work for their insurance company. Remember, the boiler insurance? I go there and do my loss prevention magic on them. They're real. I'm not sure how George knew. :p

Ok, Anita I could possibly be the dumbest blonde ever. Maybe a mod can just delete this whole conversation in here. :o
When you said you have 2 latex plants, I was thinking...plants, as in house plants. Rubber plants. Fake plants. I totally was not thinking clearly. Please let's just forget this ever happened. I've been looney all day.

OK, back to Seinfeld...:o

People kept ringing the bell!!!

I had no idea what that meant when it first aired. I was raised in towns with no real public transportation, and I didn't know you had to ring a bell when you wanted to get off!

i didn't even notice he was your son! i guess i wasn't reading close enough. :) did u get him into Seinfeld, too? LOL

i got into Seinfeld right when the show ended! during the 90's, I was in elementary school, so i didn't really know about Seinfeld. it was many years later that i caught it one day and it was the Soup nazi episode! i loved it! ever since then, i watch it all the time.
sometimes i wish they had new episodes so we can talk about Seinfeld like we do with LOST. that would be awesome

I started watching it in the third season which was its first full season. He and my other son started watching shortly after. All three of us love it! Then we all moved on to Friends. I did get him into Lost. He still hasn't gotten me into 24. Ha!

Looks like TBS is having a SeinFest starting in about 15 minutes!

Edit: The Opera

Joe: Jerry, Joe Davola. *spit, spit* I have a hair on my tongue.

Joe: Are you still scared of clowns?
Kramer: Yeah...
