Wow. I've been wanting to watch this show for awhile now and I'm just getting to it. I don't have Showtime, so the episodes have shown up online and I just started watching them last night.
I'm totally hooked. This is the stuff I studied in college and I forgot how much I eat this stuff up.

I have one question:
This show is it like CSI as every episode is indepandant or is like Lost?

^^There is a continuity of storytelling, so I guess more like Lost than CSI, though not really at all like either. Dexter is all about . . . well, Dexter. It is strange and dark and wonderful. Watch it. It's on iTunes. You will (probably) not be sorry. I know I wasn't. :)
This show is brilliant. Definitely top5 material.
Brilliant characters, great stories, and the monologue... ah, the monologue kills me. It's so GOOD.
The first season is pure gold from the beginning to the end. I've watched the first 2 of season 2, and although they were entertaining, I'm slightly disappointed.

Were they leaked? Cool.
Since both seasons are based on the novels, and the first followed very closely and pulled it off well, I dont have any reservations about the second season.
Edit: So I've answered my own question. Yes it appears the episodes have been leaked.
And the new season seems just as interesting, different and addictive as the first!!

Bumping.
Loving the new direction of season 2. They aren't rehashing anything or even holding back. In the second season they are already going to the "He's gonna get caught" plot. I was really impressed by that.
I just read that the first season was based on the very first book of Dexter. And the second season is the TV writers making there own thing. Going in directions the books didn't.
Anyone catch the season finale? I was kinda disappointed in it because it seemed way too rushed and a little tidy. But otherwise, I think this season was amazing! Does anyone know when this comes back...think sometime in '08 at least?
I'll miss Doakes too! I'm curious to see how/if Dexter's gonna carry on being a serial killer seeing as he successively framed Doakes...will look very suspicious!

I liked the finale, it wrapped up most things I wanted wrapping up.
It'll be back in about 3-4 months I reckon.
I liked Doakes too, I thought he was really funny and a great rival for Dexter to butt heads with, towards his death he had more depth to him also. I also liked Lila for how twisted she was lol, I knew Dexter would kill her though, it was metaphorical of how Dexter was letting go of his old way of life eg. The Code of Harry, to starting anew, new rituals, experimenting with different killing techniques, which he'll have to do because the police now know the Bay Harbour Butcher's style and technique, he's writing his own code. I can't wait for season three, Dexter saved me from watching the disappointing stuff Heroes was serving up.

I liked the finale too. My only problem was the Doakes storyline was wrapped up too early in the plot. Id rather see it wait until the end, with the remaining storylines wrapped up earlier in the finale. Doakes'story seemed more important too me, probably because Lila was just so annoying! It did make sense that Dexter killed her in the end.
I'm looking forward to Season 3!

I started watching season 1 a while ago and wasn't sure if I liked it. But I recently finished season 1 in like 2 weeks. I got totally addicted half way through. :p Now, I've only started watching season 2.

Dexter is a fantastic show. I've seen the complete first and second season - and am eagerly awaiting the third!
I have all three Dexter novels, which I discovered after watching the first season.
The first season dvd set was released here this week. I bought it on Thursday, along with the Dexter T-shirt.

I just just started watching it. Seriously... I'm watching my first episode right now :giggle: . I wasn't sure about this show but d*** its already gotten me addicted and the episode isn't even over with. I wanna keep watching.
Someone should have warned me :eh:.
Although, I love the actor Michael C. Hall (I watched Six Feet Under when it was on.) , and if he took the lead role, I figured it couldn't be that bad.

Wonder why the gory/funny shows are so addictive, and the more...clean shows aren't as addictive. I'm not saying all non-clean shows are (hey, I watch The Office), just still.
Dexter= Awsome.

Well, not all gruesome shows. Its about the writing. Televisions great writers are all about 'outside of the box'. Dexters concept should be the most disturbing thing ever. But through a great cast, brilliant writing and continuity, and Michael C Hall -- it works.
MCH really does so much for the show. Im just glad hes getting his recognition.

I hear another mysterious and dark woman is showing up this season. She looks a little like Lila. But not as vampirish. It doesn't say anything about her being a new love interest.
If it were any other show i'd say they were doing a repeat. But I couldn't even imagine writers that talented doing that.

Definitely a great show, I like S2 more than S1 (same with lost btw for me), glad to see other losties are watching Dexter, it's in my trinity along w/ lost and heroes for the only shows I watch.
It has such a great sense of dark comedy, irony, meaning, and sheer gore/shock factor, but all w/ a few overarching side quests/mysteries like the penny des connection in lost, to keep things interesting. Big fan of lila's character in S2, she does a great job as well... Of course I was upset when she died, she was hot and I dug her accent.

I love this show. It doesn't make me feel like I'm watching another random cop/crime solving type show. I think that it's really well done.
I love how Dexter always has the same emotion, and speaks the same about killing someone as he does about eating a banana! Excellent.

Showtime has posted a trailer for the upcoming season of Dexter, and I for one can't wait. Due to the space-time continuum, however, I must. The season seems to involve Dexter breaking away from his father's "plan" and becoming more spontaneous in his killing...which causes all kinds of problems, not the least of which is Jimmy Smits' new character, Assistant District Attorney Miguel Prado. Hopefully the show gained a whole new fan base during its run on CBS last year; no word on if it will return to the network at any point (I'm guessing not uness there's another strike). Season 3 premieres September 28, and if you need to catch up before then, the Season 2 DVD comes out on August 19! Funny how that works out.

I caught the preair. I must say that it does start well, but not as out there as the first episodes in the earlier seasons. Although Im definitely impressed that it has kept up the high standard as it seems other shows seem to miss there mark of late.

That's good news, it's certainly alot more consistent than Heroes anyway.
I'm looking at it tonight, I'll give my verdict then.

Here's a great AICN story (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/38627) about the recent episode, Finding Freebo, that indicates that Dexters ratings numebrs are on the rise!
Ratings for “Dexter” are rising, albeit more slowly. Its 1st-season premiere was seen by about 334,000 viewers, its 2nd-season premiere was watched by about million, and last week’s 3rd-season launch hit 1.2 million (thanks no doubt to the show’s CBS writers-strike run and its “outstanding drama” Emmy nomination). The June 16 installment of “Weeds” still holds the Showtime series-premiere record of 1.3 million viewers.

Interesting, It's not everyones cup of tea so to speak,I've been watching it since day one and it still surprises me not as many people are into it, it's a cult hit.

Some good news from Variety. (http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117994392.html?categoryid=14&cs=1&nid=2563)
Showtime has picked up a fourth and fifth season of drama series Dexter (2006-)
Pay cabler said each season would consist of 12 episodes. Production on season four is set to begin in the spring in L.A.
Skein starring Michael C. Hall as a Miami blood splatter expert who moonlights as a serial killer bowed its third season to strong ratings and critical buzz three weeks ago. Dexter nabbed an Emmy nom for best drama series this year and also earned a Peabody Award this year.
Two more seasons of Dexter! :w00t:
