The only thread I found like this was archived, so I'm starting a new one, if no one minds. :)
Okay, I really need to figure this out- is there a specific name for that cycle where living things die, decompose, and then turn into other stuff? And if someone knows the precise name of that, for a bonus, can they explain it to me in a simple language that I can understand? :eh:

Does anyone know the general form of an inverse variation equation? (with y,x, and k(the constant))

there are a couple of cycles that apply to what you're talking about...the nitrogen cycle, the carbon cycle and the phosphorus cycle...you're probably after the carbon cycle but just incase...I'll give you a link to help you figure out which one you're after:
http://www.marietta.edu/~biol/102/ecosystem.html#Overview (just click on the links for each one!)
hope that helped...

I think that what you're looking for is biodegradability, but turning into other stuff? I don't know about that :blank: .

Everything depends on how you're told it's inversely proportional to. To the square of x is a usual one. y = k/x2 (square)

ya thanks....the one we're using is y=k/x.

ok this is the whole paragraph: Suddenly he remebered - for no apparent reason - a day of rain at the Amercan college, the glass windows of the library steamed over with the central heating, the tall shelves of sedate boocks; that was peace. He had made his own world, and this was it - the empty broken huts, the storm going by, and fear again - because he was not alone after all.
Its about a man on the run in the middle of a forest and he suddenly remebers this
Thanx for ur answers :glomp:
ShadedSkies
11-30-2006, 02:25 PM
This is how I understand it.
He is in the forest, he's obviously afraid and he suddenly has a sort of flashback which appeases his fears. (when he says "that was peace")
In that context, "he had made his own world" would be a synonym of "to be in one's own world" or "to create one's own little world". It basically means he was feeling under control, in deep thought and concentration. He managed to "escape" from his fears for a few seconds or minutes, until he realized he really was in the forest. (there's a rupture with his flashback when he comes back to reality, by saying "and this was it")
I hope this helps.

hmmm... i think it is to do with feelings of guilt, you say he is on the run, right?
he remembers the peace of the American College, which is contrasted with his current situation 'empty' and 'broken' and 'fear'....
and in the middle of it all you have the phrase.... which suggests that the path from then to now was his own choosing, he himself is to blame for whatever he is going through....
i don't know... i could be wrong, but thats what i thought when i read it.

Hello. I have been home sick for three days and have a bunch of homework to make up. I missed an explanation in math about Sin, Cos and Tan. Does anyone know anything about this? It would help me alot.
Ok, isn't simple in few words however I try...
sin, cos, tan are functions, often called "trigonometrical".
The "range" of sin and cos is all R (real numbers), in other words in sin(x), x can take all real values. They take values from -1 to 1 (sin(x) or cos(x) can't be greater than 1 or less than -1). Are also "periodical" functions because they take the same value every 2pi (with "pi" I mean the greek pi: 3.1415... etc.): in other words sin(x)=sin(x+2pi) and cos(x)=cos(x+2pi).
Some values:
cos(0)=1 sin(0) = 0
cos(pi/2) =0 sin(pi/2)=1
cos(pi) = -1 sin(pi)=0
cos(3pi/2)=0 sin(3pi/2)=-1
cos(2pi)=1 sin(2pi) = 0
etc. (you can easily have other values rome these with sin(x)=sin(x+2pi))
Geometrically if you have a rectangle triangle with hypotenuse long 1 and one of intern angles (not the pi/2 one) that values "a" radiants then:
the side of triangle with whom hypotenuse form the angle of a radiants is long cos(a)
the side opposite to the a radiants angle is long sin(a).
tan is a function defined as tan(x)=sin(x)/cos(x).
It has range in all R excetp from values in wich cos(x) is 0 (so, ...-(3/2)pi -(1/2)pi, pi/2, (3/2)pi ...) because in these denominator of sin(x)/cos(x) would be 0 that isn't possible.

"Aztects" were one of those population often called "precolombian" (like Maya, their name is because they began before the arrive of C. Colombo in America), who lived in the land that now is Mexico. The Aztec empire was great and they were great warriors. They had an emperor (the last one was called Montezuma or Moctezuma) and a complicate religion that leaded them to built great buildings. They believe in gods like Quetzalcoatl (the plumed snake) or Tezcalipoca (god of the dead, with is mirror of obsydian), and made human sacrifices too. If I well remeber their capital (Tenochtilan) was kinda Venice on a lake in Mexico.
They commerciated in various thing, the most important cacao.
The Spanish arrived in XVI and XVII century in Mexico that became a Spanish colony, and wars and sickness arrived from Europe killed Aztec civilization. The Spanish explorer conqueror of Mexico was Hernan Cortez.

That's what my teacher told us: SOHCAHTOA. I think it sounds wierd, but whatever helps remember the stuff. I'm learning about that stuff right now in school. SOHCAHTOA:
Sin(sine)
Opposite
Hypotenuse
Cos (Cosine)
Adjacent
Hypotenuse
Tan(Tangeant)
Opposite
Adjacent.
It simply means that Sin =the opposite leg of an angle over the hypotenuse of a triangle. Cos=the Adjacent leg (or the one right next to the angle) over the Hypotenuse Tan=the opposite leg over the adjacent leg of the triangle.
I hope that wasn't too confusing.

and to set up the equations isn't to bad either if your missing a side:
cos: cos(angle)=adjacent side over hypotenuse
tan: tan(angle)=opposite side over adjacent side
sin: sin(angle)=opposite side over hypotenuse
if your missing an angle:
cos: cosX=adjacent side over hypotenuse, then to X=cos-1(A over H)
tan: tanX=opposite side over adjacent side, then X=tan-1(O over A)
sin: sinX=opposite side over hypotenuse, then X=sin-1(O over H)
the -1 is an exponent

That's the nice version. Not only did the conquistadors bring sickness, but also Spanish greed. They found river and stream beds full of gold and other precious metals which the tribes placed no great value on. Spain, however, along with the rest of the 'civilised' world, did. They also liked slaves.

Well, in fact I said that Aztec civilisation were destroyed by sickness and war. Yes, surely Spanish were greed of gold and silver too (that Aztecs didn't care too much). But this isn't the reason of the fall of Aztec Empire. However the "civilesed" world was surely most "civilised" than Aztecs that did human sacrifices (like one, in honor of Tezcalipoca, that consisted in take the heart of still alive persons), and for example never invented the wheel. In my opinion the Spanish government with every bad things they did was surely better than Aztec empire, that was bloody with the neighbour populations and with its citiziens themselves.

Actually it's never been proved which of the South American tribes actually practiced human sacrifice. There were more than just the Aztecs around at the time.
The other thing to bear in mind is that history is always written by the invader not the invaded and being that all we have in the Spanish view and some friezes in some jungle temples that archeologists aren't 100% are historical fact and not just stories.... Personally, I'll take a rain-check on the human sacrifice lark until someone can come up with some concrete proof. In 1000 years if someone read a Stephen King book they may come to think that we all behaved like that....
I do agree that the South American Indians empire crumbled due to sickness that they were not immune too, but the reason it spread so far so fast was the invaders incredible lust for precious metals. They pressed deeper into the jungles than perhaps they would have otherwise and therefore spread the germs far deeper into the continent. It's likely that more would have survived and been able to come immune over time if the invasion hadn't been so deep so quickly.

The Inca empire did not collapse due to sickness. It was due to war. Shortly before the Spanish arrived, the Inca empire had been in a civil war between two brothers that were claiming the throne, so it was weakened. Unlike the Aztecs, the Incas didn't think the Spanish were Gods, and the leaders weren't too afraid of them. Due to disorganization, lack of communication and the immense span of the Empire, the over 100 soldier Spanish army was able to conquer an Empire with an army probably nearing a million. Diseases were brought, but at a much smaller scale than in the case of the Aztecs.

^^^^True, and yes the Aztecs (as a lot of precolombian civilizations, I think the Mayas too) believed in white skinned Gods coming from East, and when the Spanish people arrives... etc.
I don't know you Darkbear, but I would have surely preferred to live under Spanish government than under Aztec government... ;)

The second one is the right one.
Next month in my town we are having a day when we are not supposed to use any water apart from bottled water.
The grammar rule for this is quite simple: never use the future with 'when' if the tense used in the sentence is in the present.

A little clarification as to what exactly you are surveying would help in figuring out more questions.:)

Well that's the thing. I don't really know what I can actually find out that's usefull, but we HAVE to have a survey, from about 25 questions.
I'm working around "how familiar are you with autism", "are the following statements true" "how familiar are you with animal therapy" "do you think it'll have any effects" etc.

Yea, I allready have the information for my thesis, so I'm browsing through that a bit :)
Ok, well I will throw up a couple of ideas and hopefully some will be useful.:)
-Do you think autism generally affects males or females?
-Do you think autism is common or uncommon in children?
-What are the symptoms of autism?
-Have you, a family member or a friend ever been affected by autism?
-Do you think that autism research should be funded by the government?
If so why? If not why?
-Have you heard of using animals in the treatment of autism?
-What is your opinion of animal therapy for autism?
-Should animal therapies for autism be funded by the government?
If so why? If not why?
That's all I can think of at the moment. Hope it helps.
Thanks

I'm trying to work on a research paper for World History, about John Locke. Maybe John Locke and Jean-Jacques Rousseau, since they contributed to the enlightenment and are both characters on Lost. That's my idea for a research paper. Is it stupid or will it work? The teacher said I have to focus mainly on the real philosophers. How will I do that without rendering the whole idea and connection pointless?
I need help and suggestions on what I should focus on writing in my research paper.

Well you could try something like:
"Through the popular TV show LOST people who have no interest in philosophy or the Enlightenment are being introduced to characters not only carrying the names of Locke and Rousseau, but also the ideals that these philosophers espoused."
Talk about what the philosophers believed, the historical conditions in which these ideas were formed.
Then point out how the show used these principles, 'tabula rasa' etc.
Summarize, maybe point out that the show could encourage people to delve deeper into philosophy and these two philosophers in particular.
Anyway, that's my idea.:)

You might want to double check about whether or not your teacher wants you to put this kind of thing in a conclusion(I think there's sometimes when you can and others when you can't), but you could always just tie it back to the conclusion.

The first part of a grid path is shown below.
The directions for following the path are as follows:
a)Begin at the origin. Move to (1,1).
b)Turn 90 degrees counterclockwise and move to (-1,3).
c)Turn 90 degrees counterclockwise again and move to (-4, 0).
Continue the pattern.
What is the final position after 12 moves? and
What is the final position after 100 moves?
Grid:
http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/6273/mathwb9.th.jpg (http://img406.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mathwb9.jpg)
Now I think I got the answer but I am not totally sure of it. Since it basically each point moves 4 units away from the point before it (after doing the a),b) and c) ). So the 4th move would be at (0,-8), 5th: (1,5)..etc..What I end up with is: 12th move (0,-12) after 100 moves (0,-100). It seems weird although I think I did it correctly....Can anyone attempt the problem and see if they get the same answer? Thanks :)

Biology and chemistry are both a branch of Natural Sciences. They both share common goals and approaches and they are often linked to eachother in many ways. Since biologists use the same chemical principles as chemists (but not always the same conditions), they deal with alot of the same processes.
However, the main difference is that biology deals with living material while chemistry studies dead material that has not been alive. But, there is a field of Chemistry which deals with living material and it is called Biochemistry (a field somewhere inbetween Biology and Chemistry). So, nowadays, the difference between biology and chemistry isn't so clear anymore.
Could something like that do or isn't it long and detailed enough? !

I need some help. I have an article to translate to hand out next week for Uni, and the article is about asbestos and the diseases associated to it. I have big troubles to understand this sentence:
Mesothelioma is a cancer of the fine lining of the chest, which it turns into a restricting rubbery casing, causing death in about a year.
The expressions in bold are the ones I don't understand. I've made a lot of research, but it's not very clear. Could someone explain as precisely as possible what it means?
I think the lining of the chest is also called the pleura. Not sure.
And I guessed that a restricting rubbery casing means it causes problems to breathe? What's the casing?
I'd be so grateful for any help!
heatdamaged

The pleurae are two thin membranes, one is attached to the chest wall and the other is attached to, and surrounds the lungs. You know how when you skin a piece of chicken, there is a thin clear membrane attached-that's what each pleura look like. They secrete a thin, clear fluid that reduces friction between them so that the lungs can freely expand and contract with breathing.
So with mesothelioma(basically cancer involving the thin membranes) the pleural cells rapidly divide and are nonfunctional. This increases the thickness of the membrane(making the one that surrounds the lung look like a rubbery casing) and dramatically increases the amount of pleural fluid, both of which make it difficult to expand the lungs.
And because I am a bored dork, I included a couple of pics. Hope this helps Helo.:)

I worked in pairs with a friend of mine and there are a few things we didn't agree on. So I would like your opinion on which sentence sounds best. The things we didn't agree on are in bold.
If you find anything that sounds weird or not correct, please let me know, too.
But where do all superprofits go ?
The king of oil, a penny-pincher? Come on, no more than the rest of the gang! Whenever it comes to investing, French industrial groups are almost all tight-fisted. Yet God knows they’re not pleading poverty: they’re making more money now than they ever have / than ever. According to calculations made exclusively for the French magazine Capital by Patrick Artus, chief economist(?) at Axis cCIB, and his team, the firms of the CAC40 (Paris Stock Exchange Index) saw their profits sky-rocket by an average 54% between 2000 and 2005.
At GDF (+ 448%), Vinci (+190%) or even Pernod Ricard (+144%), the rise was somewhat explosive. And the 2006 figures already look exceptionally promising. If the profit champions eased off on investment, it’s also because their shareholders proved to be greedier and greedier / proved to be increasingly greedy / showed more and more greed.
But admittedly, things have changed a lot:
investment funds (hedge funds, retirement funds…), which manage money for pensioners and investors from all over the world, now have more than 50% shareholding in these industrial groups.
OR
Over 50% shareholding in these industrial groups is currently in possession of investment funds (hedge funds, retirement funds…) which manage money for pensioners and investors from all over the world.
According to Stephanie Lavigne, a professor/lecturer at the Toulouse Business School and the author of the retirement fund industry, it’s a “European record!”.

Okay, I really need help right now with a little essay on The Miracle Worker. Has anyone here read the play? I need to list at least 2 "details" from it for each plot element (exposition, complication, climax, resolution) for an outline.
This is all I've got so far, no actual details in any paragraph except one quote in the first...
"The play starts its exposition with the Kellers, whose baby Helen they discover is deaf, blind and mute. Their struggle at the beginning is to either find a doctor to help her (they've gone through many doctors) or send her away to a mental institute. Desperate, they write a letter to the Perkins Institute and they send Annie Sullivan, a "half-blind Yankee schoolgirl" as Keller says, to help Helen. When she arrives she tries to teach Helen as a strict teacher.
The complication arises when Helen is so difficult to communicate with that they have to move her and Annie to a smaller playhouse nearby, for only two weeks. Annie comes to a point where she nearly gives up on Helen and herself, but keeps trying.
The climax happens when Helen has to fetch water and suddenly remembers the sign for water.
The resolution is when a storm of words soon afterward floods Helen's mind, bringing her into the world at last and she is finally able to communicate. Her family is overjoyed, particularly her mother, and Annie is stunned."

Has someone ever exclaimed "You've lost weight!" when you know that you gained ten pounds last month? Or have you been told that your hairstyle looks great on one of those days when you look like you just crawled out of bed? If this has happened to you, you were being flattered, not complimented.
I don't know, it is kinda lame but at least it does demonstrate what flattery is, and introduces the two concepts.*shrug*

Toss together means mixing ingredients with your hands or using the pan/bowl so that all of the ingredients are mixed together properly. The term is mostly used for salads and stir-fries so that there isn't a load of apple in one part of the meal, and the flour and spices are just sitting on the other side.
Toss:
-To throw lightly or casually or with a sudden slight jerk
-To mix (a salad) lightly so as to cover with dressing.
Drizzle:
-To let fall in fine drops or particles
It basically means to lightly coat your food in a liquid dressing, in this case honey.

and for some parts i used an online translator site so it probably doesn't make sense!
If there is anyone who can help i will type it all up! and I would be very grateful! :D

If you could just make it so it makes sense that would be really great! :giggle: and if you could make me sound a bit cleverer that would be good too! :)

My French isnt great but is the last paragraph supposed to be in past tense? If next year you are going to NY then shouldnt it be in future?
Like i said, my french isnt great so i may have missed something:o
and in the first sentence i think it is "mes vacances" as its plural.
~thus*my*hat~
04-29-2007, 08:25 AM
Oh yeah the last paragraph is supposed to be in future tense :giggle: i get mixed up with tenses. actually i get mixed up with pretty much everything to do with french, as you can see by my rubbish attempt at it!!
the beginning is supposed to be talking about last year and than the end is supposed to be talking about next year. :o in theory.

The first bit is fine tense wise. At least i think so:giggle: I think that perhaps there are a couple verb endings that are wrong but from what I can tell its pretty good. Im not going to tell you because i dont wont to get it wrong for you:p but im sure someone who knows what they're doing will help you out.
As for at the moment, i have my own french homework to attend to:giggle: Good luck!

I'll have a go at editing it )
My presentation has turned into a bit of a tongue twister - can't pronounce half of it :blank:
Here's my attempt at editing anyway:

Here's a full correction:

I know it's an oral thing, but you gotta be very careful wit the accents in French I know, it's a pain!!), otherwise it's not pronounced the same way at all. So I corrected them. :) The rest is fine.

I know this may seem like a stupid question but I'm writing an essay and need some help with it. Here's the sentence:

Would king be capitalized? :eh:
I would say not. Unless you said "King Henry" instead of "the king." :)

Best dressed...
Most talkative...
Nicest person...
And my brain has stopped working! Does anyone have any funny ideas that I could use & that are school appropriate!? :p
Thanks so much :)

Anyone from Malta here? (or that knows a lot about Malta?)
I have to write about how the several invasions have affected the people in Malta and how you can see traces of that today (people, language, religion and society). So far I only have written about that they drive on the left side (Britain) and use the British education system. The maltese language have roots in punic (phoenicians) and that it is strict catholic state (divorce and abortion is prohibited)
I also have to write about the people who live there today. I know that many have french roots (from the Knights of St. John) and that many brits live there, but other than that, im really confused what to write about...:S

Proyecto: Terror (Project: Terror)
Margarita – ¡Esto es my aburrido! (This is very boring!)
Carmen – Pues, dejer nosotros terminamos. (I'm not sure about this one, do you mean to say 'We're done'? If that is so, then it should be 'Pues, nosotros terminamos.')

Margarita – Yo querer como directamente atrás, voy a obtener un refresco. (Did you mean, 'I'd like to eat directly in the back (?), I'm gonna get a soda.'? It should be something like 'Yo quiero comer directamente atrás, voy a obtener un refresco.')

I thought of that but i instead decided to have about the background for the french revolution because it is easy to write much about it..:) So long Ive written about the age of enlightment and the philosophers Voltaire, Montesqiueu, John Locke and Rousseau which all had an impact on the revolution

K-12 grades is the American school system, but specifics as far as what is covered in each grade varies somewhat state to state.
Generally speaking, K is Kindergarten, which is a preparatory grade for five year olds covering the beginnings of reading, writing, and mathematics. Often it is only a half day of instruction but some schools are moving to teaching a full day.
1st through 8th grades are referred to as primary education. Often these grades are broken up into 1st-5th referred to as elementary school for 6-11 year olds, and 6th-8th referred to as junior high school for 11-13 year olds.
High school is grades 9-12, also referred to as secondary education, for 13-17 or 18 year olds. This is where kids take their SATs and prepare for university.
Some schools have started giving mini-diplomas and graduation ceremonies for every grade but the most common diplomas are given for graduating junior high school and high school. When most Americans refer to their "diploma" they mean the one they received for graduating high school.
Hope this helped!:)

Name seven characteristics of the French Revolution.
Name seven characteristics of the American Revolution.
Then, we have to write an essay comparing all of the characteristics.
The essay part I'm okay with. but I can not find anything useful in my History book. My teacher gave up page numbers, but there isn't much about the Revolutions.

Oy muggle28, your topics are so broad! Here (http://chnm.gmu.edu/revolution/) is an interesting site re: The French Revolution. And a PBS (http://www.pbs.org/ktca/liberty/) site about the American Revolution.
You might also want to Google "causes for French Revolution" and "causes for American Revolution". The big similarity is that they were both primarily caused by economics.

I need some help with math... The sum is:
The ornamental tea cup is in the form of a truncated cone. The inner diameter of the top of the cup is 7,5 cm. The diameter of the inner bottom is 3,0 cm. The depth of the cup is 10 cm.
Calculate the capacity of the cup.
I assume by capacity they mean volume, so the volume formula for a cone is 1/3x(pi)x(radius)^2Xheight.
the radius is squared and the radius would be half the diameter.
The final answer is 229,7cm... but i really cant seem to get it,:( please can some one help me.:)
Edit: never mind, I got the answer! :)

Could a native Spanish speaker proofread this text I wrote. I've actually translated it from French to Spanish, but I would like to know if everthing makes sense and if you could correct my syntactic mistakes if any, and check the vocabulary and accents. It would mean a great deal to me.
Thank you so much in advance!

Nope, it's not the same but the languages are very similar in the way it's written... but not the way we speak.

...Love? Romeo and Juliet is nothing less than the quintessential love story.
The conflict is that the lovers come from families that are feuding.

Anyone have a plot bunny for a short story they want to share? The story is supposed to be a short story, on two to three pages. I'm not looking for a whole story, just the main plot

Any native English speaker with pretty good linguistic skills (grammar, expression) would care enough to help me by proofreading a text I wrote? I also have a few syntax/grammar questions. I'd be forever thankful.

Okay so I have to anlysis a speech, I chose this one from To Kill a mocking bird, I dont have to read the book, but i would like some background information on it please.
This is the speech I chose:
To begin with, this case should never have come to trial. The State has not produced one iota of medical evidence that the crime Tom Robinson is charged with ever took place. It has relied instead upon the testimony of two witnesses whose evidence has not only been called into serious question on cross examination, but has been flatly contradicted by the defendant. Now there is circumstantial evidence to indicate that Mayella Ewell was beaten savagely by someone who led, almost exclusively, with his left [hand]. And Tom Robinson now sits before you, having taken 'The Oath' with the only good hand he possesses -- his right. I have nothing but pity in my heart for the chief witness for the state. She is the victim of cruel poverty and ignorance, but my pity does not extend so far as to her putting a man's life at stake, which she has done in an effort to get rid of her own guilt. Now I say guilt, gentlemen, because it was guilt that motivated her. She has committed no crime, she has merely broken a rigid and time-honored code of our society. A code so severe that whoever breaks it is hounded from our midst as unfit to live with. She must destroy the evidence of her offense. But what was the evidence of her offense? Tom Robinson - a human being. She must put Tom Robinson away from her. (He gestures, pushing away with his hands.) Tom Robinson was to her, a daily reminder of what she did. Now what did she do? She tempted a Negro. She was white, and she tempted a Negro. She did something that in our society is unspeakable. She kissed a black man. Not an old uncle, but a strong, young Negro man. No code mattered to her before she broke it, but it came crashing down on her afterwards...Now gentlemen, in this country, our courts are the great levelers. In our courts, all men are created equal. I'm no idealist to believe firmly in the integrity of our courts and of our jury system. That's no ideal to me. That is a living, working reality. Now I am confident that you gentlemen will review - without passion - the evidence that you have heard, come to a decision, and restore this man to his family. In the name of God, do your duty. In the name of God, believe Tom Robinson."
Lawyer Atticus Finch's (Gregory Peck) closing argument to the jury In to Kill a Mocking Bird

I could write an essay on To Kill A Mockingbird now if I wasn't so tired - it was my GCSE Lit text and I loved it :p
The basics are: Tom Robinson is black and poor, Mayella Ewell white and poor, her family are referred to as 'white trash' in the novel. Tom is honest and kind, whereas Mayella's father Bob doesn't work and treats her and her siblings badly - they have no mother.
Mayella invited Tom into her house by asking him to cut up a piece of furniture for her, and then she attempted to kiss him. He, being married, a Christian etc, backed away, but Bob Ewell had seen it at the window. He then attacked Mayella as Tom fled, and Bob forced Mayella to report Tom for rape.
Atticus knows full well that Tom hasn't got a hope of getting acquitted - even though the Ewells are ignored by the people of Maycomb, they're still white and Tom's black, and although it's clear from the evidence he didn't do it, the jury will find him guilty. In his summing up, the passage you've got, Atticus is trying to make the all-white jury look past their prejudices and see the truth. He's trying to make them think, to realise that black people and white people should all be the same under the eyes of the law and that they shouldn't send an innocent man to prison and execution, no matter what the colour of his skin or his social status.
The theme of social and racial prejudice is really what the whole novel's about.

For dutch class, I have to make an asseignment about the book "Perfume" by Patrick Süskind. We have to choose an artwork and a song that fit the book (Or the film for that matter). But I can't think of something at all.
I first thought I'd draw Grenouille or the girls but that's not allowed :(
Can someone help me please, I'd really appreciate it.
ETA: oh, and for the artwork, not one of Titian's or Boticelli's red haired women, it's too obvious and my teacher doesn't grade obvious, too bad :(

I'm writing a persuasive essay on Hiroshima...If I think the bomb should or should not have been dropped. (I'm saying it shouldn't have.)
I'm on my third paragraph, and I want to say other ways WWII could have been ended. I'm drawing blank. Any ideas?
My brother also suggested that because of the bomb, we entered a nuclear age. It's an idea, but i'm really not sure how to write a whole paragraph on that. I mean, an atomic bomb hasn't been used since.

Your brother's idea isn't bad.
We did enter a nuclear era after WWII which was called the Cold War. And there is a lot to say about it. Certainly, no atomic bomb has been dropped ever since Hiroshima but there was a considerable nuclear arms race between the United States and the Soviet Union and their respective allies from the late 40's to the 90's.
A lot of useful information can be found there:

I hope it helps.
