Huge fan here!:D

Ok, so, I've been a fan since the early 90's and I've had so many favorites. Most recent are Rascal Flatts, The Wreckers, Jo Dee Messina, Terri Clark, Kenny Chesney, and so, so many more. I've always love the stories they tell and stuff. Ooo, yeah, can't forget about Sara Evans.

I mostly listen to really old stuff (like, 70's stuff, the ones I grew up on) and 80s-90s. I do like some recent stuff--I like Toby Keith and Sara Evans and a few others that I dont know their names, just the songs. :p

I'm more turned towards the oldies as well. I am, however, a big fan of the Dixie Chicks, Sara Evans, Norah Jones, etc.. :D

My favourite would really have to be Patsy Cline. I just can't get enough of her songs, I'm constantly listening to them... 'Crazy' drives me crazy... :D

I'm a Texas girl, and a huge fan of both Texas country and 'regular' country. George Strait is definitely a favorite, as are Eddie Rabbit, Daryle Singletary, Doug Stone, Diamond Rio, and Randy Travis. But I also like bands and people that no one has ever heard of--The Eli Young Band, The Randy Rogers Band, No Justice, Kyle Park... Anyone?

Exie--you have Blackhawk! None of my friends know what I'm talking about when I start spewing off about songs like "Every Once in a While."

Doug Stone, More Love was brilliant.

Does anyone remember Restless Heart?

My big Doug Stone song is Too Busy Being in Love. I'm at college in a rural-ish area, and the country stations play some stuff from the late eighties/early ninties that was rarely on the air on the big Houston stations. I heard that song the third week of my freshman year, and could remember about three phrases from it. Since I got it, it's been on just about every one of my playlists.

Restless Heart... They had When She Cries, right? I remember that one, and Why Does it Have to be Wrong or Wright. Both of which I adore.

Mm, does anyone remember David Kersh and his If I Never Stop Loving You? That and That Ain't My Truck (wow, but that title is redneck) are the two songs I've just "rediscovered."

Top ten? Oh dear. Well... I'll try.

I Fall To Pieces by Patsy Cline
Amarillo by Morning by George Strait
Small Town Saturday Night by Hal Ketchum
Just to See You Smile by Tim McGraw
Forever & Ever Amen by Randy Travis
Amen Kind of Love by Daryle Singletary
I Love a Rainy Night by Eddie Rabbit
Every Once in a While by Blackhawk (you knew it'd be there, right?)
Too Busy Being in Love by Doug Stone

I know, I know. It's only nine. But there's so many jostling for that tenth spot, including more Randy Travis and George Strait, along with some things that I'm currently in love with, but don't know if it's just temporary or something I'll listen to over and over again. Brass Bed by Josh Gracin for the newer ones, I guess. Little Red Rodeo is another top one.

Maybe... A top 50 list? That I could do with no problem.

I do like some Reba songs... The Greatest Man I Never Knew is one of my favorites, and I was obsessed with Does He Love You? when I was about twelve.

I just went and listened to Blackhawk's Not Strong Enough to Say No for the first time in years. And I have to say, whether you like the pairing or not, that is an accurate depiction of Boone's character when it comes to Shannon. Now I'm never going to be able to listen to that song without thinking of them.

I don't listen to much (if any) mainstream, contemporary country artists who came about post-90's, but I still like country music. A few faves:

Hank Williams Sr
Johnny Cash(At Folsom Prison -- such a classic album)
Patsi Cline
Dolly Parton
Willie Nelson
Kenny Rogers
Emmylou Harris
Buddy Holly (is probably my favorite musician at the moment :D)

I also love alot of folk/punk/country like Rocky Votolato and Ryan Adams. If you guys haven't heard of Ryan Adams then you should all get his album Heartbreaker right away.

So did anyone else watch the CMA's besides me and georgiapeach?

IMO Martina McBrides performance was the best, but I also liked Faith Hill, Sara Evans, Sugarland, Little Big Town, and Brad Paisley (his wife is sooo lucky.) Vince Gill was amazing as always. I liked the song Gretchen Wilson sung. It sounded like a country song from the 60's or 70's.

The winners were kinda predictable, except for Carrie Underwood winning Female Vocalist, which I would have rather gone to Faith Hill or Sara Evans. But CU has the momentum right now so it was understandable.

10. Someday-Alan Jackson

Oh, I loooooove these. Alan Jackson is one of the best modern country music singers. Merle Haggard is great, too. I like George Jones' "White Lightning".

I grew up with all this stuff. 70's country music (and most 80s as well) is the BEST. My dad didnt listen to anything else. Country, bluegrass gospel, and trucking songs. (Need I specify that he was a CB radio buff, as well? :p )

Oh crap, that reminds me--I borrowed several of my dad's boxed sets and I was supposed to return them this weekend. I've got Roger Miller, Merle Haggard, George Jones, and the Osborne Brothers.

I have a cool version of the Osborne Brothers' "Rocky Top" done in a techno version. :giggle: It's really cool. I found it online before the record companies started cracking down on music downloads. (I download mine from Wal-Mart, now.)

Either way he was hot!

2. Willie Nelson's "Always On My Mind" and "Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain"
3. Martina McBride's "Independence Day"

Eh, if I saw Josh Turner in person, I'd probably be screaming my head off, too. Not only can he sing, but he's just... :thud:

Diamond Rio is fantastic! I've got about a half-dozen songs of theirs on my main playlist. So many of the songs they sing are just so entergetic, and are a blast to two-step to. You have to let us know how that went.

Does anyone else remember Bryan White? He was in the early to mid nineties, I think, and had songs like So Much for Pretending, Rebecca Lynn, and Someone Else's Star. The same thing goes for Brooks & Dunn. They had some of my favorite songs when I was younger, but I haven't enjoyed anything they've done recently. Except Building Bridges, or whatever their new one is called. That one reminds me of their older songs that I liked.

Is anybody else on here a country music fan? I can never seem to find any on any of the message boards I visit. If so, who are some of your favorites? I love all country, old and new. I love Dierks Bentley and Jason Aldean the most. I also love Brad Paisley, Tim McGraw, Josh Turner, Trace Adkins, Toby Keith, Brooks & Dunn, Sugarland, Rodney Atkins, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Trent Tomlinson, Randy Rogers Band, Danielle Peck, and oh so many more. I also love some of the older ones like George Strait, Patty Loveless, George Jones, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, etc.

I like the older country music. It seemed to have more soul. Now it seems to me to be about commercialization. I used to Tim McGraw, but since he got married and had kids he seems to be ALL about that. To me, he lost his edge.

Who knew there were so many country bumkin's around here!

I have to say that above anyone else of any genre Keith Urban is my absolute favorite!!!! Ever since The Ranch days I've been absolutly in love with his music and him. Other than Keith I love Miranda Lambert, Dierks Bentley, Sugarland, Katrina Elam, Merle Haggard, Kenny Chesney, Gretchen Wilson, Brooks and Dunn, Big and Rich, Jason Aldean, the Hank Williams clan, Patsy Cline, Reba, Tim McGraw, George Straight....pretty much everyone old and new.

Let's see...top ten fav songs...well they could easily be filled with Keith Urban songs so I'll limit him to one.

-Raining On Sunday - Keith Urban (tough to pick but thats just the sexiest song ever....dont even get me started on the video!)
-Brand New Man - Brooks and Dunn
-Free and Easy Down The Road I Go - Dierks Bentley
-The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia - Reba
-Gunpowder and Lead - Miranda Lambert (herd it in concert and have been obsessed with it ever since, soooo badass...cant wait for the new CD)
-Live Those Songs - Kenny Chesney
-Whiskey Lullaby - Brad Paisley & Allison Krauss
-Let's Make Love - Faith Hill and Tim McGraw
-Settlin' - Sugarland
-Hurt So Good - Kenny Chesney and Gretchen Wilson live duet (the original Johnny Cougar is still one of my favorite songs of all time but Kenny and Gretchen's version was kickass!)

Ok I have like a million more....ten is way to small a number!

Oh, Gabs, I'm the same way. I dont listen to much of this new-fangled stuff either. :p But I grew up on this stuff--southern gospel, truckers songs, bluegrass; Statler Brothers, Merle Haggard, George Jones, and all those ones you never hear about. Not a big Rascal Flatts fan, but I do like the song, What Hurts the Most.

Fav. songs at the moment:

For my b-day I recieved Sugarland's recent album, mostly because I love the song Settlin'.

Jack Ingram: Lips of an Angel; My sister likes the rock version better(don't know who sings it), but I love this one.

Martina McBride: Anyway; Really, she could sing anything and I would like it. Her version of Over the Rainbow(from a previous cd) is to die for.

Keith Urban: Stupid Boy; He's just an amazing writer and singer.

I know there's more, but my minds gone blank.:blank:

I don't listen country all the time, but I do like it. Some songs are just so great, specially the ones with dirty lyrics. ;)
I don't have any favorite artists, but instead I have favorite songs. To name a few: Hot Apple Pie's Hillbillies, Dennis Leary's Asshole and Eddie Rabbit's I love a rainy night.
But hey, I'll sign up!

what bugs me about country music is that so many non country music artists are putting in a last ditch effort to make music, so they just go straight to country. I don't want to here non-country on a country radio station. I mean, they treat the country music scene as a way to get into music easily or to keep on making music (that's not country) until they retire.
That's why i stick to Texas country music...the true country
