I am talking to a new Internet Buddy right now, and we are talking about how great of a Lupin Dom would have made in the third Harry Potter movie. Do you agree?

Well, anybody beats the dude who THEY cast. He sucked and was very scary. Like Michael Jackson scary. But yeah...I think Dom could have done that well.

Yeah he looked too old. Dom would've been great! Werewolf!Dom would've been creepy too. But in a good way...

I actually never thought of Dom playing Lupin. He would've played him very well, but anyone would've been better than the guy that they did cast. Personally, I always thought Ewan McGregor would've made the perfect Lupin :)

oh my God, yes! he would have been so adorable, and he definitely would have done lupin justice, unlike that other dude. ick. i was SO mad at who they picked for lupin, because i always pictured lupin as being this sexy scruffy little lovable guy in my head, and then he was all... not.

ha! I agree! Although I never thought of Dom....*ponders the thought*

Well, Dom in anything makes me a very happy person. A very VERY happy person. So yes, it would have been better than old whats-his-face! *grumble*

Well, acting-wise, the guy they got was pretty damn good, but appearance-wise... NO! When I saw pic of the actor as himself, I thought he'd be a great Lupin, but then, when I saw him as Lupin, I was so disappointed beyond belief. He was supposed to good looking... along with Sirius!

But I totally image Dom playing Lupin. They are both kind hearted and fun. I squee when I think about Dom pointing his wand at a locked door and saying Alohamora. LMAO. And during the werewolf scene, it will be like a new side of Dom: evil, feirce, hungry, and dangerous Dom! Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!

Nooooooooo, I would be very depressed if Dom was Lupin, Lupin is older than Dom, and seems to have an air of sophistication. I just look at Dom as "silly." I can't see him as Lupin. I think the guy that plays Lupin right now is great, appearances didn't really matter to me.

Woah! Good idea! I would have lked to see Dom as either Lupin or Sirius, two off my fav characters! That would have been so awesome! I wasn't pleased with the casting in POA at ALL. They really messed up on key characters, IMO: Dumbledore, Sirius, Lupin...
Anyway, Dom being Lupin would have been perfect! Well, once they dressed him up a bit, made him look a bit older and scruffy.

OMG, don't get me started on the new Dumbledore. And they might be replacing Tom Felton for the fifth movie. :sobs:

As for Dom looking like Lupin, he's scruffy enough, especially in DNH. But, yeah, he would have to look 10-15 years older. If Snape was in the same year as James and Lilly, and he is 40-something today... you do that math. LOL.

Dom in Wizarding Robes... :thud:

well, reading the third harry potter, i always picture johnny depp as sirius and viggo mortensen as lupin... i don't know why, but it made me very very happy :D that may be one of the reasons that the third is my fave...

i thought the guy who did Lupin was GREAT. i never read the books so i don't have expectations for the movies. i dk even in movies that are based off books i read i always don't have NE expectations and just take the movie for the movie...ya know? like LOTR, Joan of Arc, and someonethers are different from the books but OMG do i luv those movies. but haha Dom i dk about Lupin but he would make a cute wizard.

i do agree that the new Dumbledore sucked though!

I absolutely HATED the casting for POA, but I guess they took what they could get...but seriously...the guy who played Lupin was not at all what I was expecting him to be...I guess I could see Dom's face as Lupin...but I really don't see Dom actually acting as Lupin...it's just not how he is...

I dont think Dom would be a good Lupin at all. Dont get me wrong, I love Dom and he is a great actor but he does NOT fit the Lupin role.

First, as other people have sayed, Lupin way older than Dom. Lupin is in his late 30s or early 40s in the PoA time period and Dom plays much younger characters.

Another thing is Lupin seems much more wise and sophisticated than Dom type characters. I dont doubt that Dom could pull off something like that but he seems best at playing slightly spastic, slighty silly characters.

Personally, I loved David Thewlis as Lupin. He is a great actor and was visually a good Lupin (other than the little mustache thing). Yeah, I didnt really picture Lupin like that but think about it. He is a werewolf. He is going to look older and kind of beat up. Thewlis played Lupin brilliantly.

Overall, I loved the casting in PoA, with the exception of Emma Watson. She is a crappy actress and she speaks all of her lines in italics. I would hate for them to switch actors though. They didnt really have an option with the character of Dumbledore, though. I thought Michael Gambon did a good job with it though. You cant replace RIchard Harris he Gambon wasnt trying to. He took Dumbledore in a different direction which was more towards what I imagine him as being like. Gary Oldman was perfect as Sirius Black. Oldman is another fantastic actor and fits the part really well.

Sorry for getting way off topic, but I just wanted to address some of the other issues brought up in the thread.

Again, I love Dom, but he wouldnt fit the part of Lupin at all.

O gosh Dom in a wizard robe, saying magical spells :thud:

I'd love him as a lupin, but he's far too young for the one in HP3, maybe like mentioned before, in a flashback or something.

*thinks of Dom in the wizard robe again* :thud:

I think Dom would make a good YOUNG Lupin, but he's to young to play Lupin presently. He's like 29 and I always imagined Lupin to be at least 40.

But you all know that Lupin is just around 33 or 34 in the third book? He has the same age as Harrys parents and Harry was born when Lilly was 20 or 21. As he is 13 in POA we can assume that Lupin and Sirius(and Snape as well) are all around 33 or 34 the time POA played.
They just casted actors who are all too old for their part and that's something that bothers me while watching the movies.
I always imagined them younger while reading the book and having their real age in mind.
But nonetheless David Thewlis did a great job. I didn't like Gary Oldman much, though.
My ideal Sirius would have been Viggo Mortensen in his Aragorn-style. While reading the books I always pictured Sirius that way....
And by the way, taking the real age of Lupin in consideration I think Dom would have made a great Lupin.
Maybe he gets a part in one of the other movies-maybe as a Death Eater or something like that. After all, he's a big Harry Potter Fan...
Wow, that was a long post. Hope it makes sense.

I agree with toasteraffair.

and -gape- at mottel. didn't like Gary Oldman?!?!?!!!??
he is just... one of my favorites... ever....
but yeah, you're entitled to your own opinion.

other good Lupins (in my opinion):
Tim Roth - if you didn't know, he really is British.
if we could age him ten years and give him talent, Orlando Bloom.
if they would cast Americans, Edward Norton.
Jude Law - MAYBE. if they "uglied" him up a bit.
Colin Firth - just because i adore him so.

that is all i can come up with for the time being.

Haha! What an idea!!!

Hmm...

Yes maybe he would be really cool as Lupin... And Lupin would look much more better than now... MUCH MORE!!! ;)
Unfortunatly itīs not possibel that Dom will play Lupin in the next Harry Potter movie. But never say not... :p
