at least your being honest...unlike the people on American Idol
I know what you mean--I cant stand it when they get up there and get kicked off, and all of a sudden the judges "dont know what they're talking about." And they look real sharp throwing profanities around.

I can sing but I don't realy like to, lately I've been trying to learn to harmonize and come off terribly, and when I just sing the melody it sounds boring. Apperently other people like it though *shrugs*

i can't sing unless it's a rock song and the music is being played really loud so you can't here me :o
the thing is, i love music and i really wish i could sing, but everyone has strengths and weaknesses, i guess this is just one of mine :blank:

10-03-2006, 02:03 AM
Lol...well...how well do you play guitar?
I think I can sing...I have been singing since before I could talk (not with words of course, because that would be strange) I know i could be better, but Im definatly better than average.....though I dont think Im that good, I love it and thats all that matters really...and if possible getting money off of it matters as well. :D
What kind of things do you guys (even those of you who "cant" sing) enjoy singing?
I sing classical, punk/hard rock (lead singer in no name band....but not anymore we broke up...) and jazz.....its fun....what about you guys?

It depends on your definition of 'singing' as to whether I actually can or not. I can sing, and have sung in a couple of choirs but I sing so rarely now that it often comes out very quiet. :giggle:

I sing. And of my two-man band, I think we've come to the agreement that I'll be the lead singer. Bass/baritone range and all.
Yeah. Being in a two-man band sucks. Especially when you don't have a drummer. Or have any songs.

I sing quite a bit. I've picked up guitar so I'm working on smooth softer vocals.
I do a lot of musical theater too. My last musical part was Gaston in Disney's Beauty and the Beast, and that was a lot of baritone singing. I love to sing though, every chance I get. Musicals, church, choir...whenever I get the chance.

Wow, Josh!
I sing second soprano in a lady's ensemble at church and have sung a few solos. I would get laughed off of Idol though! I have also sung alto and tenor in the church choir as needed.

Well... I LOVE to sing. But i'm just not a strong singer. I've always wanted to take leasons because I have a good range. I like to sing alto parts or soprano. But, I used to be shy and thats why I never worked on it till now. :shifty:

My dad insists that I can sing (he's never even heard me) just because he was a singer in a band in high school. I dunno. The same goes with my looks. He wants his daughter to be perfect so he can think he's passed on good genes or something.
Wow, I just totally rained all over this thread. LOL.

I used to sing on small festivals/contests when I was 10-11 (got there myself and prepared myself = no one from family made me :D), not that there was big competition, but I did pretty well :giggle: Since then I don't sing "oficially" though :p

My whole family is incredibly musical, with several song-writers and musicians, most of us can sing, I've been told that I can, but only well enough to know what's in pitch and carry a tune. I love to sing along to songs already playing loudly, but other than that? I spend much more time on instruments.

01-09-2007, 09:41 PM
Hum. I certainly don't like my voice, but most people say it's pretty. I can keep a tune pretty well, and I can definitely go high and low, but there's a difference between being able to achieve these marks and sound good. I don't think I sound good.
Ask Rachel and Abby, though. they've heard me sing. :D
I allways sing but my voice is terible:blank: :D

Although you dont particularly need to be able to sing to make it as a singer in the music industry, look at Madonna for example and Kylie sounds like a whailing cat!!! :giggle:

I took singing lessons a long time ago (probably when I was like 8 or 9), and the teacher said I had perfect pitch. So yes, I can sing. I like to hum. But I won't sing in front of anybody. I may be able to sing all the notes just right and everything, but I don't really like my voice. Plus I'm shy. :o

Only when I am very, very drunk and I relax then, so I'm told, I'm quite good.
I used to sing alot, but one year I had larangitis and carried on with a carol services and really damaged my vocal chords. In the middle of the first verse of 'Once in Royal David's City' my voice just cracked and died for two weeks. I used to be a soprano, but i just can't hit the notes now.
Probably didn't help that I was smoking aswell..... :shifty:

Had a go at a karaoke once, it was in a pub in East London, I was getting rather drunk (I was feeling brave). :D
I sung "Can't Help Falling In Love" I absolutely murdered it, so much so the barman said. "Oi mate, can you sing that again just before closing time, that'll help clear the place out"

I can't sing even though I belong to a school choir (well, I need good grades, and music is a subject as well as Maths or English). I like singing anyway.
However, my voice is not good enough to sing solo in front of everybody. Furthermore, I'm shy.

i love to sing. i do it sort of unconsciously, my mind wanders.. and before you know i'm off again!!
i've been recorded in a studio a bunch of times too. so i guess i'm alright.
one thing i do do real well is that kinda of screaming that you hear in post-hardcore bands.

music helps me in so many ways especially to learn languages. I'm studying French now and the 1st thing I did after the first class was start to listen Carla Bruni and try to sing her songs, Hopefully one day I'll be able to sing them :p

I can't sing. I know that. What I didn't know is just how awkward my voice does sound while singing, and this is how I found out:
I was belting out a classic Pearl Jam song in my truck, and it was a very passionate "WWHHHYYYYY"... it was all well and good, until I was going over the railroad tracks near my house, and the cd skipped. I just stopped mid-note and was thinking to myself, "My God I am terrible." I was alone, and yet, still embarrassed... it was that bad.

06-15-2008, 01:11 PM
My singing is somewhat okay.
I used to be able to sing quite well, and the kids from my class always asked me to sing, but I think I just grew out of it a bit, because my voice sounds all soft and high - I can only catch the high and the normal notes, when it goes low it sounds like hell.
I love singing though, but preferably when I'm alone or too drunk or tired to even care about anyone hearing me sing.

Ahaha, this was last year. And, needless to say, I didn't do well. I was so nervous and I sounded horrible. I got a part in the ensemble.
Yesterday was my audition for this years play. I did so much better. I took voice lessons and I believe my voice improved. The directors told me that I sounded 'pretty' and I got a callback. :D
I hope I get a good part in the musical this year. Though it's rare for a sophomore to get a decent part...
