Salma Hayek was hilarious on that soap opera lol. I really like the guy who plays her boss (can't think of his name for the life of me right now). He was in Resident Evil. Next week's episode looks great!

I loved the premiere, thought it was really cute and funny. I hated that they made America Ferrera out to be so "Ugly" mainly cause I think she's gorgeous, but I had to keep reminding myself the show wouldn't have the name if she was made pretty. :rolleyes:

I bet she'll get better looking as they go on. Already, her appearance was different at the end of the episode than at the beginning. I think it was when she was walking away before the credits that she had her hair slightly curled, and it was a little less frizzy.

Besides the whole idea of changing the people around her, I think the show WILL re-do her look a little before the end of the season. It's pretty much a given if you ask me. (Especially since the writers HAVE to be aware that some will have the same reaction as you)

I agree, she looked better at the end than she did in the beginning. I don't think she's ugly either. The braces do stand out though, but most do. The next episode involves her losing (I believe) some very important photos/documents that could get everyone in a lot of trouble.

Daniel! Glad someone remembered his name! I adore the actor, Eric Mabius who plays him. I also like the nephew- I think that kid is adorable. He's still a kid, but he says what he wants as well.

I just saw the 1st ep, downloaded it, and I didn't expect much from it.. but now I love it! :D But the actress, America Ferrera is she called?, wasn't ugly AT ALL in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Of course, the clothes, the braces, the hairdo.. they did all they could to make her ugly, ;) But oh I felt so, so sorry for her when her boss and the French guy made her wear those clothes between those superthin models. Almost made me cry.. she was so humilated. I really hated her boss then, I was happy when he told them to stop and that he came over later to apologize.

I like Detty too. It does sound cute. I knew America Ferrera looked familiar from somewhere...I didn't even think of Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants...I'm looking forward to tomorrow's episode. It looks good so far. And I think ABC said that 19 million viewers tuned in for the pilot episode last week- that's almost as many as watch Grey's (about 23 million)...and I believe more than Lost...

I liked tonight's episode. I love that Daniel and Betty are a team! Although I really don't like that other secretary girl. I loved the actress who didn't want to be "retouched", I thought that was fantastic. And Vanessa Williams is just great on this show.

Ugly Betty is such a great show! My friend Carolyn and I tape LOST and watch it on thursdays (she has school until 9:30 on wednesday) and we've kind of made it a tradition now to watch Ugly Betty afterward. Really, I don't have anything important to contriubte. Just wanted to say that it's a fantastic show. ^_^

I agree, she needs friends at Mode. In next week's TV Guide, they show pictures from (just minor ones) the Halloween episode- her costume is too funny. I don't think it's supposed to be, but I couldn't help but laugh at it. New episode tomorrow.:)

Edit: I thought last night's episode was really good. Mark and Amanda were too funny. And I loved how Daniel wouldn't let Betty confess because he didn't want to lose her- I thought that was adorable. lol.

are you talking about the networking party episode or the halloween episode because they were both great. I think i liked the networking one more because Betty and coworkers made friends and amanda ate alot.

it's cool that they stick in stuff that's controversial (?is that the right word?) like the gay nephew and her dad being an illegal immigrant. I think the show normalizes things that have been blown out of proportion.

I liked both episodes. They had their moments. I think they're handling the situation with her father very well so far. It's a serious issue and I'm glad they're not playing it down to make it okay. I do like that they're giving Amanda and Mark bigger parts. they're making them less mean too, I think. This week's episode looks great. Salma Hayek is supposed to be a new love interest for Daniel, but I'm still all for Detty. :giggle:

Edit: According to TV Guide, Salma Hayek is returning for this weeks' episode as well. Should be interesting.

I liked last night's episode. The scenes when she was the hotel were hilarious! I couldn't stop laughing. I did feel bad for her when Daniel turned down her article though, but at least Sophia (is that her name?) is going to publish it. And making Wilhelmina more "motherly" by sending the care package herself instead of having Mark do it was a nice touch, too.

Next week looks good, but I hope Betty retaliates when Daniel breaks up her Thanksgiving to help him pick out a shirt. I think he should have to go to the Suarez dinner...lol.

i loved the prom dress. Personally i thought her dad's murder story was a bit melodramatic but I guess they needed an explanantion for why he wasn't legalized during amnesty.

i'm not a detty shipper. The idea of Betty and daniel hooking up is to wierd for me. I wonder if it's even going to happen in the us version of the show. I think the foreign versions were a bit more corny than this one and it worked for them. Actually alot of people were disapointed with the cindarella ending (at least for the colombian one). Mark in those dresses was too funny. I liked Wilhemina having dinner with Niko- they're slowly humanizing her more, which is good. I actually was glad that Daniel didn't lie to Sophia just so he could get her. And I loved that Justin's father showed up at dinner. Betty going to the bar to get Daniel was cute too (although to Detty shippers, I read somewhere that it won't happen, 'cause in the original version after they hooked the pair up, the viewers hated it and it got canceled. Apparently ABC doesn't want to take that risk w/ a popular show...)...

I loved the Thanksgiving ep. Mark & Amanda are hilarious, their little sprint after they called the woman was so funny! I love them. :) Liked the Daniel/Betty moments too. I don't want them together yet, but maybe after a season or two.. Depends on when Walter fleeds (I don't like him) and how long it'll take for Daniel to want to settle down.. Cause I want him to, with Betty! :)

Sucky lawyer. I wonder what they're going to do now.. &I kinda like Santos. Hilda's quote about him too! "This is the case of boy meets girl, boy knocks girl up, boy loses girl's phone number".

I'm not a big fan of Walter either. I liked Henry (the guy she had lunch with who works in accounting) though. Christopher Gorham is adorable. I had envisioned a Thanksgiving where Daniel went to the Suarez's. hmm..maybe a fanfic...lol. Santos seems interesting, I hope they keep him around, at least for a couple episodes.

Yes the show is original from Colombia, I'm colombian so it's no lie; and the show became so famous and watched that many countries bought it, Mexico, Russia, U.S....If they adapt it the same as the original I could tell you the finale already

^it's about a girl who gets a job as an assistant at a fashion magazine. she's awkward and frumpy and a bit of a dork and she doesn't fit in there but she has a heart of gold and she's really smart and hard working. it's kind-of an underdog story.

but it's really good and really funny and it's definately worth a watch.

This show really is cute and charming. But I already watch Grey's and Men In Trees...so during classes I can't watch TOO many shows on one night. America Ferrera, according to the SF Chronicle, is a front-runner for the "Best Actress" Golden Globe. Based on what I've seen of the show, I really hope she wins.

I haven't liked Sophia for a few episodes. I like her at first, but over the last two or three, something was just off. The whole Hunter situation was hilarious! Christina at the club- too funny. Its my third favourite how now behind Lost ad desperate housewives :D Betty and Daniel should totally be together, but they obviously can't do that till the very end of the series otherwise people might stop watching. To all the Sophia haters, at least this means she probably won't be a very big part of the show anymore, if part of the show at all, so that's a good thing to come out of the whole situation. Her presence totally disrupted the flow of the show in my opinion. The Sophia-centric episodes just lacked the flow, wit and charm of previous episodes- plus to my knowledge, there was no comparable character in the original Colombian telanovela, though I might be wrong. Anyway, at least everything back to normal, with Betty back as Daniel's assistant. It's so obvious that they are beginning a long and well, very very long process of flirtation (symbolized by Hilda's rant on how Betty was on an "all-night dinner date" with Daniel), but it won't happen 'till way in the future, when Daniel learns how to look past conventianal standards of beauty and get past his shallowness (I do think he's great but we all know he has to work on that lol) and Betty gets a little bit of a makeover. so alot of mysteries are solved now. When alex/alexis explained it all and her motivations i really didn't blame her so much. and now we know who killed fey summers too (until the next twist).

I realize that in the original Betty La Fea that Betty gets a makeover and they (B & D) get together, but that sounds so much like a copout ending. I really hope they don't stick too close to that storyline in this one.

I'd rather see Betty and SuperAccountant get together. They're so cute. But he'll probably wind up being a controlling jerk or something. :T

I am glad to see you-know-who go. Every time Walter appeared, it felt like the show suddenly paused in its momentum. His scenes were always painful to watch because I really, really felt sorry for him, but was also incredibly annoyed by him.

I want Daniel & Betty in the end, but I adore Betty and Henry. Henry is too cute. Walter is/was annoying. He had some funny/quirky moments, but for the most part I wasn't a fan of his.

I was a little surprised to see Santos back for the episode, but I thought it was fitting.

This is the only series that has had a great season finale so far. I loved every minute of it, espeacially Hilda...she was great at breaking down. All of it was a little cheesey in the end but I was worried how this series would do in the second season...I no longer worry :D

I watched it too in the U.K awww I cried :bawl: Santos died!!! And Hilda was so happy as well and excited for the wedding :( It was really sad with Daniel and Alexis in the car, it was so emotional, the scene before, when he comes into her office stoned :blank:

I was thinking that it was so stupid that Hilda's fiancee (what's his name?) survived. Because the way she was crying in the season finale made it obvious that he died. If he was shot and in the hospital, she wouldn't just collapse on the floor, she'd run out and get to the hospital as quickly as she could. And I couldn't believe it when it turned out that she was imagining the whole thing. It was so sad. :bawl: I'm surprised Justin is taking it so well. *shrugs*

Henry must've found out that the baby wasn't his. Will Betty even want him now?

I hated how they did the whole Santos thing. First I was estatic because I liked him and then to have him really gone. I thought it was acted well, but very inappropriate for the Santos fans. I was upset enough to cry and while I do often cry watching tv, I didn't like that whole scenario.

I love Cristina for telling Henry about the baby but I really want to see if Betty is going to be all woo! for having Henry back after he just up and left her. So far I am loving the new season though:)

I rememer hearing that the exec producer or head writer (I know zilch about the PTB of that show othe than Salma Hayek) said somethng about Henry being something she has to go through to get where she's meant to be. I know I'm way off on the exact words that were used because this was MONTHS ago, but it had made me wonder if the "endgame" was Betty and Daniel. Don't know if that was even what was meant in that statement, but that's immediately what I thought.

Don't hate me for this, but I don't think I'd hate it if it happend. But if it did, it would be years ('cuz I want YEARS of this show--;)), and after Daniel's done some growing up, and Betty has gotten less frumpy...I love the character and don't want her to ever change, but at the same time, both have to do some growing, and that's her "issue". No, I don't want her to start dressing like a model or anything, just not SO frumpy either. She could take it down a notch or two and still be the Betty Suarez we know and love!

According to TV Guide, as of Nov. 26, there were 4 eps. left. So I think there's one or two more to go.

Henry's dance moves were too cute/funny, not to mention the outfit Justin put him in. Not hating Gio, but not loving the actor who plays him either. Just not seeing any chemistry there I guess. Wish he was for Hilda instead, but at the same time, I'm flashing back to what one of the writers or producers said about Henry being a step she has to go through (or something like that). I'm seeing Gio as the person who helps open her up to more exciting possiblilities, become more of a woman, rather than a little girl in abuela's mismatched clothing (:giggle:). I see Gio as the next step toward eventually becoming the person Daniel will fall in love with, or making him realize he's already in love with her as a person.

As for the Alexis/Daniel thing, I'm in complete agreement there. I knew that she was going to do it, hate that she did it, but even more, I love that HE didn't do it. He's a typical boneheaded male (:rolleyes:), but at the same time, he's not...:cool::heart:

Eric Mabius seems to think it will. Whether it's just speculation on his part or whether he knows for a fact, I do not know, but he was interviewed in TV Guide recently and he said something about hoping for a fling with Willie at some point before he and Betty get together.

I didn't care much for the finale, not in comparison to last seasons, or in general.

I figured out the boy was Daniels from the start (Well, DUH, writers!), and the whole "Who will she choose" thing was much more interesting on other shows but really it's an overdone plot, IMO. I don't care either who she ends up with between the two, but as Daniel said, choosing Italy for a month means he gets to keep her close to him and that's what I really want in the long run. So I'm actually hoping she did go off by herself somewhere, but I'll settle for Gio.
