ok so has anyone ever read Twilight? It is my FAVORITE book. (with the exception of HP of course.) so... The sequal to Twilight, New Moon should be out soon, and then the third will some out next year. Theres also plans of a movie... twilight fans come and discuss!!!

I finished New Moon last week and I read it slowly so it could last. Gah! I hated what happen after the beginning, but was pretty happy with the end. And I can't wait for Elicpse to come out!
I also hope that they will make a movie :D

For those of You who havent read the book, In a very short unworthy description of the book.



A girl (Bella) from Phenoix, Moves to Forks, Washington. She ishas to go to a brand new High school. The people at her school are nice enough. The first day she makes a lot of new friends and meets a boy named Mike. Mike really likes her, but she of doesn’t have feelings for him. It almost seems like everyone likes her, except one person. Edward Cullen. He and his family, Emmett, Alice, Jasper, and Rosaline, are like nothing she’s ever seen before. First off they are all extremely beautiful, with their almost inhuman pale porcelain skin and beautiful eyes. They all look athletic, like they could run miles and not get tired. And that assessment is from far away. The first day she meets Edward up close, is in biology. For no apparent reason he is extremely mean to her, ignores her completely, with the exception of hateful looks, and sits as far away from her as possible. But with even that she can’t help but goggle, and be completely amazed by how handsome he looks and how mesmerizing his Angelic voice is.
But after what seems like an eternity, the next week he acknowledges her. She is completely floored to see how kind he is after his recent behavior. But that all changes when the next day she almost gets run over by a van, in the school parking lot. The road was icy that day and not every one had chains on their tires. She sees the car coming and there is no question that it is going to hit her. But before she even had time to blink she feels something pushing her out of the way and protecting her from the sliding van. When she sits up she realizes that Edward had saved her. But he was 4 cars down from her when she looked out seconds before the van almost hit her. At the hospital she demands to know how he got there that fast and how could he fend off a full sized van. He closes up within himself and venomously tells her that he doesn’t know what she’s talking about, that she hit her head and that he was standing right there the whole time. They both know he’s lying. They both know that Edward is different. The next couple days at school are awful, Edward is his old self again and Bella is fed up. She asks him why he didn’t just let her die if he regretted saving her this much. He says that he didn’t regret it and does something that their both not ready for. He asks her if she wants to go to Seattle with him. She was planning to go and says she will.
At lunch that day he strays from the table where his family usually sits, and sits at a table alone. He calls her from her friends and asks her if she wants to sit with him. He is very nice to her but it always seems like he is trying to say good bye to her, or is mentioning that they shouldn’t be friends, that he’s bad. But since he braking all the rules he might as well make the best of it. On the weekend when she is out shopping with some friends and as luck has it she gets separated from them, and to top it all off a group of thugs almost grab her. But someone saves her. You guessed it:) : Edward. He is furious and offers to drive her home. He says later on that he was afraid if he let her go with her friends, he wouldn’t be able to control his anger and go after those sick men. When she asks him how he knew she was in trouble he answers her hesitantly but truthfully. He read the people’s mind that were around her. Bella had been doing some research of her own, and had some theories. So she presses on asking more questions. Finally he caves in and explains it all to her. Her speculations that he is a “cold one”, a vampire are true. He followed her here because it makes him anxious for him to be away from her and that he wants to protect her to keep her alive. He and his family aren’t like the vampires in the movies, the don’t turn into bats, can come out in the day time, don’t sleep in coffins (they don’t sleep), and most of all they don’t drink human blood, they choose animal blood. They don’t want to be monsters.
Edward says that he cant stay away form her. Bella says the same about him. That she doesn’t care about what he is, it doesn’t matter to her, She loves him . Edward says that its going to be hard, sometimes he can hardly control himself. Not only does he love her, but he thirsts for her blood and Bella is putting herself and the others at risk just being around him, let alone having feelings for him.

So basically Edward has to choose between his undying love for Bella or his thirst for her blood. :(


This book is amazingly written and i would reccommed it to the ages of 12 and up . It's sooooo sweet and so romatic that it has won a place in my heart for great books.:lotsalove :heart:

Bringing this thread back from the dead. I only just read Twilight and New Moon and loved them both so much! This series reminds me of the feeling that I would get when reading a new Harry Potter book. It's just impossible to put the books down! Right now I am torturing myself my saving Eclipse for this weekend. I'm going out of town and will have a lot of free time so I wanted to take it with me to keep me occupied.

So, who is everyone's favorite characters? I normally don't like the lead characters the best but I adore Bella! I really can relate to her better than just about any fictional character I've ever read about. I also like Alice a lot. And, of course, Edward. How can anyone not love Edward?

Yeah, Gaspard is cute but he's not stunning. I think whoever plays Edward has to be stunning, and very close to perfect. For me, it are Gaspard's imperfections that make him cute. My edward has to be gorgeous though.
Like Ryan Ross, Gael Garcia Bernal, maybe Ian Somerhalder because of his eyes, but I don't think he'll be able to get rid of his Lost-status...

So the next book in the series is Breaking Dawn, but a book Stephanie Meyer is doing on the side is Twilight in Edward's point of view. It's called Midnight Sun. I think. Acually if you go on the link in Blue Dream's post, you can go to other projects and you can read he first chapter.!!!!!!!!! It's really good.

My personal favorite was the Edward and Bella with the leg hip thing.

Oh and yes I think Edward should have been more Jealous of Jacob but like he said, he left Bella bleeding (he really thought it was for her own good) and Jacob patched her up with stiches that don't dessolve.
But I think that Edward acted perfectly. I mean he could have seriously killed Jacob if he wanted to after the whole kissing Bella against Bella's will and Bella breaking her hand. But he didnt. B/c he knew that it would hurt Bella. But I did love when Jake said that he would fight for her, Edward said that he would fight even harder. And then he said in a menacing voice" She is Mine" Oh that gave me chills when I read it.

Yeah, that was a creepy scene. But Gaspard is so cute, he just isn't believable as Hannibal. Perhaps, maybe, Edward. :giggle: But could he do the American accent, I wonder? :eh:

But, in the ending scene in the meadow, I thought Bella's reluctance with marrying Edward and such, coupled with her 'I love you' to Jacob, it just...i don't know. It didn't sit right with me. I'm afraid there is going to be more of a love triangle between the three of them if Jake is in the next book.

But, ohpleasedeargod DON'T let it became another Jack/Kate/Sawyer thing! :shifty:

On a last note, I really, really disliked Bella's line " It's like with Sam and Emily, Jacob. I never really had a choice". To me, that makes it sound like Bella was forced to love Edward and, had she had a choice, it would have been Jacob.

Yeah I get what you mean.

New Moon I don't see the appeal of werewolves at all (so I'm biased lol) but vampires are so much more sexy, and the cullens are all really great and suportive of Bella, unlike Jacob's 'pack', I hate how they are so condescending to poor Bella, like in Twilight when Billy is warning her to stay away from Edward/the Cullens, argh that really annoys me.

I'm still kind of mad at Edward for leaving Bella for all that time in New Moon, I understand now his reason, actually I'm probably more mad because I had to read through hundreds of pages of Bella/Jacob :p

Hopefully, those similarties will end since Jacob left i nthe end of Eclipse. But I have a feeling he's going to make another debut, probably at Bella's wedding or something. Let's just hope he's not rabid! :p

Seriously, though, I love Jacob. And I love his friendship with Bella. I like their scenes together, because I think I can relate to Bella's position in the relationship somewhat. But I lost a LOT of respect for both of them when Jacob kissed Bella and and she kissed him back.

I remember, when I got Twilight, I was up until midnight on a school night reading it. I got up the next morning and blazed through the last 5 or so chapters, and then, since I didn't have New Moon at the time, I just started Twilight over and reread it all in one day.

I read twilight in about 3 days I think. I printed out pages from the eBook so I can always reread it. I'm waiting till I go to antwerp to buy it there, bookstores in my town don't have it in English, and I don't like reading in dutch. It all sounds so ridiculous than.

I read New Moon in a week or so, someone told me Edward didn't show up until the end so I was kinda bothered with that little fact.

Me too, but... the wierd thing is, despite everything that happened in Eclipse, I don't hate Jacob Black. I blame Bella for what happened, although Jake did play a roll. Like Edward said, Jacob would have gone to the fight if she hadn't smooched him. So I think she kind of brought it down on herself. After rereading Eclipse 3 times, i think I've finally come to realize that...

Well, the way I see it is, Bella always chose Edward over everything else...including Jacob. But the fact that she had another option, and she turned it away...doesn't that sort of prove how much she loves Edward?

On a side note--for those who read Eclipse, d'you remember the part where Jacob talks about Solomon from the Bible, and says that he won't keep cutting Bella in half? And then she wanted to say Edward would do the same?

I agree with you on the whole romance aspect of everything. I think they lost the balance between romance and time apart a bit over time, especially in Eclipse. Of course, I understand that marriage tends to do that to people, but, still...

I also agree with you about the Cullens :) I was thrilled when they had Jasper (who is now my favorite Cullen/Hale sibling) playing a bigger role in Eclipse. Still, I wish we could learn more about the others...particularly Emmmett. I hope we get some more detail into his past in Midnight Sun

Alice seems to be the most human Vampire, to me, besides Carlisle. I really love her relationship with Edward, too, but sometimes, i think everyone else in the Cullen family gets overlooked just a bit. Emmett, for example...I don't think I've ever "seen" him show any desire for Bella's blood. I don't know if that's significant or if he's just overlooked a lot. :( Poor Emmett.

I just don't like how they replaced "fell in love" with "fell for" imo, it's a whole different thing and it takes away a lot of meaning from the quote.

I don't think it takes from the quote. It's my opinion, and I'm keeping it. I think it sounds more natural, more in tune with the scene. Imo, the 'fell in love' line sounded corny, while the 'fell for' line sounds far more contained for someone who's admitting love. It sounds great, to me. It's a movie, after all, we couldn't expect to have every line of the dialogue copied onto it. :p

Sometimes in books sentences that sound romantic come across as really cheesy on screen, so as long as it still all looks/sounds sincere I'm fine with it.

(As I'm writing this I'm getting mental pictures of Zac Efron playing Edward and them changing Twilight into some chessy musical :shifty: :giggle:)

I watched the film speak last night, well most of it. It has Kristen Stewart in it, she was very good. I'm quite happy about her being casted as Bella now. Speak was originally a book, the film was rubbish but Kristen's acting was wonderful. Also, i think the casting for Edward happens today or tommorow. I'm not sure. *bites nails*

It's funny to me, everyone trying to cast people for Twilight. I think everyone is terrible for the roles, because in my mind, Edward is so perfect no one could ever be him in real life. Haha. And everyone else... I guess I'm not quite ready to kill how I picture them.

I am, of course, going to see the movie. I'm just not planning on it comparing to the books that much.

It's like Harry Potter. The movies just aren't the same.

Oh, and one other thing. My friends think I have no heart for hating Jacob. Is it as rare as they seem to think for people to dislike him? I just really can't tolerate him. You can't get in the way of Edward/Bella! Lol.
