I ship them simply because I like them as a couple. I am a big fan of Sawyer, but just don't like the idea of him and Kate together. To me, Jack and Kate are meant for each other. Jate is love, Skate is lust.

They had obvious chemistry straight away, and they're just so perfect for each other. With them, I think it's a case of opposites attract. They compliment each other, and they except each other for who they are; where as I find skate are too similar to have the kind of relationship I believe Jate have...or will have...whatever.

For me, it's totally the way they act around each other. In season one, some of the cutest moments were during those firelight scenes, where they just sat in silence. They don't need words, or overly flirtatious comments. I also like the way that Jack treats Kate; he doesn't see her as a criminal, and if/when he does, he doesn't judge her by it. He treats her how I think she should be treated...especially after her past. I personally think Sawyer would be a sore reminder of her past...

I don't know, I just like the way they fit together. They can just...be, and it's the purest, more perfect thing ever. There are so many things I like about Jate...it's just...I think it's all about their chemistry and how they act around each other.

The chemistry. I just loved watching those two, from the very first ep. Not to mention their meeting really intriguded me, they had their own scene that hit off what would become their ongoing relationship. I admit I enjoy some Skate scenes, like the drinking game, but there are just so many Jate scenes I loved more. Skate is a great friendship, but I think Jate has more romantic chemistry.

I ship Jate, because it's such an exciting relationship. They don't tell eachother how they feel, but they do show it. Subtley, most of the time, but it's there. They have a deep connection, which has been growing since the first episode. The actors have amazing chemistry, which makes the relationship so easy to believe. They love eachother, but don't quite realise it yet, which is what keeps me on edge about this ship. I can't wait to see when they realise, or find out the other person truelly feels the same way to. Plus, Matthew Fox is gorgeous, Evangeline aint to bad herself.

It's weird because when I watch Jate scenes I can just see the sparkles in their eyes when they look at each other that I just don't see between Sawyer and Kate. I don't know if it's just me lol.

But I can see they love between them and it's makes me amazed by love every new scene they have. The love between them is becoming more and more powerful with every passing episode. When you look back to Verbal Copulation and now look at The Look and Jack Saving Kate (not saying VC isn't great though because every Jate scene is awesome) you can see that the love has devolped.

I feel that the harder it is for them to get to the point where they are officially in a relationship that the stronger the love becomes. There's still too much they don't know about each other yet.

After the hunting party Kate forgot Sawyer being there everytime Jack came and talked to her.Kate was obviously jealous when Jack spent time with Ana-Lucia,but she seemed more amused when she asked Sawyer how Ana got the gun (I think Kate had a strong suspicion how Ana did that).

I just think that the relationship between Jack and Kate is more beautiful.
Yeah, they have more problems than Kate and Sawyer but they work those out cause they really love each other.
Kate and Sawyer are just atracted to each other and that's why they don't have any problems.

I love Jate just because of how beautiful there relationship is, full of loud unspoken words, the way they are when they are together, ill admit i love seeing kate and sawyer as friends but to me Jack and Kate seem so much more, Jack who is always trys to fix people has found Kate, who seems to me one of the most broken people in the world despite how tough she may seem, however instead of just seeing Jack as her hero she seems to see how broken he is himself and how tired of life he seems to be. Jack and Kate just fit. Kate and Sawyer are good as mates, nothing more. Plus Jack doesnt need to blackmail kate to get her to kiss him.

just have to correct you on this. Jack does know Kate killed a man and can probably take a wild guess as to why she was arrested after she said this...
'It belonged to the man I killed?' - WTCMB :D so yes Jack does know something about her past, something which he has accepted as being a part of her and doesn't at all hold against her. In the ep WTCMB, he was shocked, and upset when she told him this i'll admit, but he seemed to realize that it doesn't matter to him what Kate did in her past...because to him that doesn't change anything, hence the make up with the guava seeds.

And yes I do believe they are in love, you don't have to know some one for an overly long time to fall in love with them, it's just one of those things we can't control :shifty: trust me I know

This is the way I see it: Jack has this pathological need to fix things in the people he loves: his dad, his wife, the people around him! In the beginning what was stopping Jack from truly falling for Kate was this need. He felt he needed to fix her, like she wasn't good enough.

I think however since the kiss and especially after the hunting party she has made him realise that the reason why his other relationships fell to pieces was because he kept trying to fix everything and perfect everything when really they were fine as they were! I think Kate has helped him realise this fault and as such has stopped trying to fix her. He has learned to love her despite her faults instead of loving her for her faults which he thinks he can fix (as he has to the women in his past). So I would say yes Kate has been good for Jack! That's just the way I see it anyway!;)

BTW I am by no means saying that Kate and Sawyer aren't good for each other. I personally think they are just as good for each other, although Sawyer may not be able to help Kate become who she wants to be in the same way Jack can!

That is a very interesting way of looking at it. I have never viewed it this way. Kate does indeed humanize Jack a little bit, and I don't think he has ever had that in a person.

Well, someone made a good point about Kate and Jack in another thread and I thought it made perfect sense. Jack can really add to Kate, and make her grow up a little bit.

I'm a Jater because Jack doesn't connect with Kate because of her past. Sawyer and Kate's pasts are really the only things that connect them. Kate is trying to move on from her past and Jack wants that too; but Sawyer kinda holds on to his past (i.e. the letter he wrote) and almost flaunts it. Jack doesn't care about who Kate was, and not that Sawyer only likes Kate because of her past, but it's the main reason he relates to Kate. Maybe because they just get each other without many words needed (remember Kate´s ˝Stop that./Jack: What?/ Kate: That.˝) or even any words (the look). I remember someone posting that someone she knows (lol, this got so complicated or not?!:D ), after watching the look, said: ˝Wow, I didn´t know Kate and Jack knew to say each other ˝I love you˝ in Morse codes.˝

I absolutely love this line (and, if I remember it right, it was said by a non-shipper!)...It just...just represents everything that jate is.

And I don´t think jack needs to fix Kate. I think they need to fix each other. Remember, Kate was the first one Jack told about his dad´s death or about his doubts when he just started as a doctor; Jack was the first one Kate told her real name, she told him about how she would go hiking with her dad, she told him about sinking with her mum (and you could see in that scene that Jack saw that it makes her pensive and he didn´t want her to become sad, so he switched the talk on funnier/lightest tone)...

Becuase Jate is epic. When she faces her feelngs for Jack it will be like the pieces of the puzzle will come together and fall into place. That didn't happen in 'I DO'. *shakes head* There scenes together just build and build and will do.....there realization and feelings are shown in a much more romantc light....skate doesn't have that. It does in terms of Sawyer (becuase he loves her) but its not the case for Kate....she needs to confront her fear and give into what she wants rather than accepting what she has always had. Im not saying she doesnt want sawyer.....becuase there is a part of her that does, its just that the part of her that does want jack (the bgger halve) is a lot stronger. :) And Jack needs trust, someone to stand by his side. Juliet can't take that place - They didn't have that connection. Instant. True...real :o :D

Hmmmm this forum needs Jate-takes from a guy's perspective really bad. So here goes... :D

I'm not really a big "shipper" in TV shows, usually. I'll admit I loved the Trip/T'Pol ship in Enterprise (those two made me laugh like an 8 yr old) and absolutely loved the Buffy/Angel ship in Buffy. But never has a ship been my favorite part of a show until this one. I think it might be because Jack reminds me alot of myself. Very conservative and reserved, non-flirtatious and non-physical, enter into relationships very slowly and cautiously, exceedingly uncomfortable when someone brings up "sexy-talk" directly referencing me (Kate: You checkin me out?? Jack: HUH? NO! lols). I think I picked up this personality from my grampa, haha.

I suppose I find it kinda romantic that the "troubled bad girl" could genuinely fall for the "Mr. conservative good-boy" because we never EVER see that happen, especially in TV. It's always the "good girl" falling for the "bad boy." Plus I love how Kate likes Jack even more because she realizes she can't get away with her usual shenanigans with him. He always catches her and admonishes her with tongue lashings and "looks of disappointment" that crush her with guilt, lol. love it love it love it

Sometimes I think Jack's a little tough on her, but I think that's just because I have a weak spot for Kate, haha. If I really try to be completely honest about the situations she deserves most of the admonishment she gets from Jack. :)

But there is a perfect description of Jack and Kate and how they look at each other that I've not yet heard and it can be based completely on their body language and the looks they give each other.

Kate absolutely adores Jack. And Jack absolutely adores Kate. They just have thick walls up right now, but for different reasons. It's that simple. Jate is an instant connection of adoration with only baggage keeping it at bay.
