Desmond could emerge, if he's alive that is. I'd say they will also introduce some new characters from the anonymous 40 other survivors; they introduced the tailies last season, so will probably need new characters to introduce and develop this season, they couldn't keep up the back stories with just the people they have now, and will also need to replace Jack, Kate, and Sawyer in terms of numbers.

I think its the producers idea to shorten the numbers of survivers to further the effect of survival and to give a different view rather than always keeping it at the same number as it will eventually get boring.

What would be even more shocking is that Sayid takes over and in the begining of the season he gets "shot" or something along those lines. This will add the effect even more as only a few "main" survivors will be left for the first 1/2 of the season.

What if there were 2 or 3 leaders. If they wanted to do something, the leaders would vote and then do it or not. There wouldnt be one guy who just goes and does stuff anymore.

Maybe like Locke, Eko and Sayid. They have the dreams and Island connections.

Sayid will be definitely the new leader. If Eko survived, maybe he will too.

I don't think they'll just find a new leader. The new leader will develop in time, and maybe never get the strong hero/leader role Jack has had. As it's said before, maybe we'll see more than one leader, even though I don't believe in a voting system between them. Locke and Sayid are most possible, but it would be fun with a girl as leader. What about Sun? Or Rose?

This season we've seen more and more people complaining about that just some people know things and do things. Also we've seen a leader conflict between Jack and Locke. Because of this, I don't believe the writers will create a new leader.

I see alot of conflicts with Bernard as a leader, because of rose's disbelief of false hope. Thier was some old guy in the pilot we saw (not Tom/Zeke/Mr Friendly) maybe he may pull up some leadership qualities from out of nowhere.

I thought Sayid, but I just don't see him having the same power as Jack would, but for now I think it will be Sayid still.

I think Rose would still prevent Bernard from being the leader she would let him help Sayid and that is it...

Locke and Desmond can handle all the organizing that's needed. If there's no hatch to tend anymore, they'll be out among the rest anyway.

I don't like this 'leader' business. Actually it's good to have power hungry Jack out of the picture for a while.

I'm going to revise my comment. Jack became the leader because he was the doctor. Desmond said he almost became one, so maybe he'll fill that role while Jack's gone. I'll give the edge to him.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's Hurley. He's a pretty laid back dude most of the time, but I think he's going to return to the camp really determined to rescue Jack, Kate, and (to some extent) Sawyer, as well as avenge Libby. Even though Michael shot her, ultimately the Others caused the whole chain of events that led to her death by kidnapping Walt. He just seems like the kind of guy who once he gets something in his head he's not going to let it go. Everyone in the camp likes Hurley, so they may band with him to help find Jack, Kate and Sawyer and avenge Libby and Ana.

in the spoiler forum, thier is going to be a actress playing someone with with leadership qualities, not Kate, not Rose, not Sun lol.

Also Sayid, Jin and Sun are still near the fake camp, i do think what if they find Cindy captured by others somewhere near the area. but not saying that Cindy is some kind of person who is leader-type. by the looks of it. she is a waitress type employee. i think thier is going to be a Kate/Cindy connection, if you know what i mean. She might of meet her mother for some reason, i don't know.

The new leader will definitly be Sayid with Locke as the second-in-command. Desmond seems to lack the leadership qualities, seems better at following orders than giving them. At least we don't have Dr. Self-Righteous running around anymore.

Sayid. He's always been really good at taking charge. Maybe Eko.

i hope to god its sayid. i wish jack would never have even been leader. sayid is far more superior as far as intelligence is concerned, and he actually listens to other people. down with jack's dictatorship, in with sayid.

06-12-2006, 01:15 PM
sayid is definately up there in the leadership stakes, but that being said, i think the whole 'leader' thing will be a bit more open from here until jack returns, he tended to just take the reigns of it without much opposition.

sayid wont be a leader, he has no abilities to be leader... he is just a soldier,
locke also tries to be a leader but he cant also. i guess this time they wont have a leader.. everybody will do what they want i guess

Sayid would be the best one, but do you think he is going to go back to the camp before he goes looking for Michael, Jack and the gang? (Cause he doesn't know what went down on the dock yet, Michael ridin off with Walt, Hurley goin back etc.) I think he is going to sail around with Jin and Sun to find the group...So I don't think Sayid will be at the lostie's camp to become the leader...If Locke survived the big EMBlast then everyone will turn to him for leadership until Jack gets free.

Actually Sayid.

06-23-2006, 12:18 AM
I think Sayid would step up and take the leadership role until Jack returns.

Locke is too much of a loner to be a leader.
Eko probably was a leader of sorts before (Warlord, Spiritual Leader), but he doesn't appear to want that role on the island, so he does his own thing like Locke.
Charlie or Claire...yeah right. Charlie is a follower. Claire has an infant.
Bernard would like to be the leader but lacks the charisma for it.
Rose is content to follow.
Jin has communication issues.
Sun is still kinda mousy and more of an advisor.
Hurley would make a good leader but lacks the self esteem.
Desmond is a wild card. Seems too rebellious to be the leader.

This is a really interesting question and it assumes that Jack, Kate and Sawyer won't be returning soon.

Personally, I would have to say that either Locke, Desmond or Sayid will come to the front as leader. Locke IS leader material, he has a tactical mind and the respect of many if not all of the Losties, this is also similar to Sayid who too has the respect of most of the Losties and has officer leadership training.

Desmond would be a good candidate also, as he shares both knowledge of the island and officer leadership training from his time in the British Army, however he is still a new face to many of the survivors and they may not be willing to let him lead.

There is however a problem with this suggestion and many of the suggestions on the thread.....we're assuming that Locke and Desmond are alive.

I think it would be logical for Sayid, who actually saw the others' place and know more or less what's going on, to be the leader. Plus, he has the intelligence!

I think there should be more power spread out. In that case, if someone gets kidnapped, there can be someone to take over.

I think definitely Sayid, there aren't many more high members in the group. Sayid has a lot of military expertise and i'm sure he is good at making plans.

I think also Desmond should play a big part, he probably has a good knowledge of the mysteries of the island despite not being out of the hatch much.

I think Eko and Locke could make good Faith judgements. Also, we haven't learnt why Locke was so eager to go down that hole in Exodus, that is killing me! So we need Locke back!

I think it will end up with the others capturing everyone, and then they will have no-one else to capture, so they will let them out again!

I see Locke and Eko coming back from their hatch survival and probably Sayid too once he get back.

ShadowAngel16

sayid definetly
Jack,Kate, and Sawyer are going to be somewhat associated with the others during a large amount of the 3rd season.and by associated i mean held captive of course.

Definately.

Its most definately going to be Sayid. Locke and Eko are the other two characters who could strike up leadership, but Eko would have no interest in it, and Locke is busy with his 'on the rocks' relationship with the Island. Sayid is also the only other survivor besides Jack and Locke, who steps up when they are in dire need of leadership. I personally, am really looking forward to Sayids new story and his involvement with the upcoming plot. Since he was horribly sidelined in season 2.

Sayid is also the only other person who has knowledge of what Jack and Co were going to do. And once Hurley returns, they would most likely will devise a plan to get them back. Lets just hope, this time, they bring more than 4 people. I still think it was idiotic not to bring an entire army with Sayid. That sailboat could fit 20 survivors on it, and they could have just stormed the Others camp site. But we know how that turned out.... :D

I would agree with most of you that Sayid should be the leader, but I don't think he would go back to camp without looking for Jack, Kate, and Sawyer.

Maybe Locke? Or Eko? But verily, I kinda agree with you about them. So I don't really know who the next leader would be...

Paul K Flameboy
06-24-2006, 08:40 PM
I agree, although Locke and Eko are a little to worried about Eko and Locke. Sayid is obvious, but I'm not sure if he could handle it on his own.

strwbrryflke86
06-24-2006, 08:51 PM
Rousseau!!! j/k I think Sayid would be the most obvious candidate. We've seem him step up and take charge before. But I think Desmond as leader would be interesting to see (assuming he's still alive, of course). I think he'd be more of the reluctant leader a la Jack at the beginning of the series.

Moony
06-26-2006, 05:44 AM
I want Sayid the torturer as a leader. :w00t: he would be perfect, knowing what he did with Fenry, I want to see what will he do with the other others:D.

Quite interesting would have been to see Eko or Desmond as the leader, but I can't imagine anybody but Sayid, cuz he's the obvious choice

Remus Lupin
06-26-2006, 06:24 AM
Well, the leaders have so far consisted of Jack and Locke and the occasional Sayid dropped in. I think Locke and Eko will sort out most of their differences and take charge. Sayid has always looked up to Jack a little and respected him as a leader.

But my money is on Locke and Eko. Or a new character.

razgriz
06-26-2006, 08:55 AM
I just have a feeling that everyone else besides Kate, Jack, or Sayid and Locke would be incompetent to lead the group.

A tough road is up ahead.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Hurley. He's got a new edge since Libby's death, and it would make a nice character arc for the "lovable goof" to become at least a temporary leader in Jack's absence.

JeepJeep
06-29-2006, 02:20 PM
Sayid seems the wisest to me but I can't see him a leader. Eko is wise too, but both are too independent. Desmond however seems like someone who can get people organized and motivated. I don't think there's a big need for leadership with the others off the island now. Sayid, Desmond and/or Eko, Locke as a committee can make all the decisions needed.
