I freely admit it, I have become addicted to this primetime drama on Fox-not as surely as my Lost addiction, but there have only been 3 episodes of it so far, so time will tell-and I just wanted to know if anyone else watched it and liked it as much as I did.
The premise is fairly simple: It's a medical "mystery" show about a team of diagnoticians headed by one Dr. House. That's not what makes the show great. What makes it great is the details-Bryan Singer of Usual Suspects and X-Men fame is an exec producer-and the main character of House himself. For some reason a man completely as antisocial and nearly nihilistic as Sawyer on his worst possible of days, became a doctor who has to deal with meeting patients all day long. Needless to say, this creates for some interesting dynamic.
Anyway, that's my spiel. Check out the show. It's worth a look. It aires Tuesday nights on Fox.

Ahh, I know that dilemma well, unfortunately. I have to do the same because Smallville is on at the same time Lost is. I need to be in two places at once. That, or a VCR or Internet. ;) I'm glad someone else watches House though. It's a great show. :D

Hugh Laurie is brilliant! I watched him for years on "Jeeves & Wooster" with Stephen Fry and then the "101 Dalmations" movie with Mark Williams and was very happy when I heard he was going to be the lead on House. The first three episodes have been great, so I'm eager to see if the show can keep up the momentum.

Yea! More House fans!! A quick question for everyone, did anyone get a transcript of the monologue he gave in the last episode about how he didn't want to have to treat anyone? ie, the "this is vicodin, but it's mine and you can't have any...and who knows? maybe i'm high right now...i'll be in examination room 1 if anyone wants to see me." that was brilliant!!

LOL! I want House to get with that doctor lady he always argues with or that young doctor that everyone says is hot. I think her name is Allison. I love that one scene when......
House(discussing what's gotten their patient so sick)- What's the problem
Allison-Sex?
House- Between you and me? I'm kind of old for you.......unless that's how you like it. :)
Also
(Lisa walks in)
Lisa- What's wrong with her
House- Well, she ran six miles and now her leg hurts (sarcastically) It could be anything! :D
Merrie
12-10-2004, 12:05 PM
Yes!! Me too!! That would be awesome!! House's other doctor friend, James, even comes out and asks him if House if he's in fact in love with the chief doctor Lisa and House replies, "There is no thin line between love and hate. There's a great wall of China between love and hate"
That's not exactly right, but it's close enough to get the meaning. ;)
Also, here is the quote I truly love the most so far from this show:
"Hello folks. My name is Dr. Gregory House. There are three doctors on staff in this clinic and I am the only one of them that is forced to be here against my will when most of your symptoms could be treated by a monkey with a bottle of Motrin. If you are particularly annoying you may see me take one of these pills. They are Vicodin. They are mine and you can't have any. I don't have a problem with pills; I have a problem with pain. Or then again, maybe I'm too stoned to tell. So, who here wants to be treated by me? Who wants to wait for one of the other two doctors on staff? Too bad. Well, I'll be in room 1 if anyone changes their mind."
:D :D :D

After that last episode I'm totally diggin this whole House and Cameron thing. Wasn't that a great scene when Cameron was crying??
(House sees Cameron alone in a room with her back facing him, and he walks in)
H: Mixing up some margaritas? Mine's a double, senorita. That’s Portuguese, you know.
C: Spanish (without turning around, in a quavery voice).
H: Uh oh. What’s going on?
C: I’m recalibrating the centrifuge.
H: Turn around.
(Cameron turns, her eyes are red.)
H: It’s a very sad thing, an uncalibrated centrifuge. Makes me cry too.
C: I’m not crying.
H: OK.
(She turns back to the centrifuge, he walks up beside her.)
C: I told the husband he was a jerk.
H: Why?
C: (pause) When I was in college, I fell in love and I got married and … (pause)
H: At that age, the chances of a marriage lasting …
C: It lasted six months. Thyroid cancer metastasized to his brain. There was nothing they could do. I was 21, and I watched my husband die.
H: I’m sorry.
(pause)
But that’s not the whole story. It’s a symptom, not your illness. Thyroid cancer would have been diagnosed at least a year before his death. You knew he was dying when you married him. It must have been when you first met him. And you married him anyway. You can’t be that good a person AND well-adjusted.
C: Why?
H: Because you wind up crying over centrifuges.
C: Or hating people?
(Their beepers go off and they take off to look at the patient.)

YES!!! FOX has finally some to their senses! You gotta give a show a chance before cancelling it! I sent them hate mail after the "Firefly" cancellation, maybe all the collected hatred towards FOX for the brash cancellation habits has stirred them towards change.
We can only hope.
But I love "House". I only started watching it a few weeks ago, but it is awesome. I love the humor. :D

FrozenInside16-It is very cool. I actually just found out the actor who plays HOUSE is British--I NEED to hear him speak with an accent like yesterday LOL.
KateSawyer-I did miss a couple at the beginning of the season, but I'll never let that happen again LOL. My brother just moved to England for a 6 month internship and I promised I'd send him letters etc--he said no letters, just send him HOUSE on DVD LOL. Can't wait for tonight's episode :) .
laurenb-The air drums is probably the single best moment of television EVER LOL. It seriously is the only show everyone in my family will watch together--we even hold pools on what disease the person has. I am usually very wrong, but my father who is a doctor is usually wrong too--don't let Vets diagnose you is all I'm saying. BTW I discussed the repetative plotline with some friends and we all agree EVERYONE does it. Look at Law and Order etc--The same "diagnose and save," the patient thing just works for me...I'm kind of peeved at them bringing in Chi McBride because it ruins the repetative plotline for me LOL. If I want variety I'll watch LOST/ALIAS...I watch house for gameboy tips, and air drum lessons.

There is another thread already started, so we should probably continue the discussion here (http://lost-forum.com/showthread.php?t=4204).
This last episode was brutal....I thought House was going to be fired (along with half the hospital staff!!!) but luckily, they stood up to that a**hole Vogler.
I wonder if Cameron is gone for good??? Because maybe she will still be on the show as House's romantic interest since she quit the hospital??? That could be interesting!

I've only seen a few episodes; I caught an episode, the second to last one of the season, I think (I'm pretty sure they were advertising the preview for the finale at the end) and thought it was hilarious, but there was intelligence and true drama there as well. I love sarcasm and I love that House doesn't care at all. I've seen a few more episodes since then and really love the way he's willing to try everything and anything to save a patient. It's going to be my thing to watch over the summer and then be added to LOST next season as something I actually watch every week. ;)

I absolutely LOVE House. It's a great show to watch. I love all the cynical remarks. Very funny!
Dr. Wilson: Beauty often seduces us on the road to truth.
House: And truth often kicks us in the nads.
House: If I'd said to Foreman, "Nice try, it was a great guess, but sorry, not this time," what do you think he'd be doing right now?
Dr. Wilson: I think he'd be going home not feeling like a piece of crap.
House: Exactly.
Dr. Wilson: You want him to feel like a piece of crap?
House: No - I don't want him going home.

Well, I understood the thinking it was a symptom, but as it turned out, he was wrong... and he just seemed so.. grr.. I just felt he should've been a little more sympathetic towards a 9 y/o dying girl, y'know? Maybe even returned the hug she gave at the end?
I love House cynicism, it's one of the reasons I love the show so much, but this episode just rubbed me the wrong way so to speak. :p

I liked that he wasn't drawn completely out of character by her. I'm not saying he didn't act like an ass, but I was glad he was still... an ass. Does that make sense?
Anyway, was it just me, or did I sense a choking-up sensation when Wilson told him she was leaving?

I don't know she just sits behind me and tells me to get off the LJ with the icons. Must be because her obsession with Chase and she doesn't want me to see anything of him, I suppose. lol. But I'll look at the icons later on, it's no biggie. ;)

Hugh Laurie's performance is brilliant. Last night I watched the episode where a pregnant woman died because of a tumour or clot and her husband had to make the decision whether to let her die; or let the baby die. It was really powerful and touching.

What did you guys think about the new episode last night? I thought that it was good. I thought that the patient (forgot the guys name) was alittle....mean. I know that it was for a good cause. The whole medication in Africa to fight TB.

Last week's episode in the States? Righto.
The patient of the week was a cyclist who came into the hospital because he collapsed while running a race. He openly admits he takes drugs to boost his stuff, so House is all "well that's your problem, kthxbi." But of course it's not that simple. Turns out he has a bubble of air in his lungs from shooting stuff into his blood.
Meanwhile, Cameron is going on about how wrong it is for this guy to be idolized by people yet he's taking drugs and stuff. She's leaning toward reporting him even though that would go against her doctor-patient contract thingy.
Also going on is the return on Stacy (House's ex) and her hubby, Mark, who's in therapy now. House crashes one of his classes and it's pretty funny. Then Stacy comes after him and they argue...
Back to the bike guy. They remove the bubble and he starts drooling. Like, he's all zoned out. So off to the white board we go. They argue over what's going on. Either Chase screwed up the bubble-removing thing, or the guy's muscle weakness is a result of something else. House orders a bundle of tests.
Some point later, we meet the clinic patient of the week. Some guy who's having... Badder issues... After he quit smoking. Turns out his gum is making his system all psycho.
Then we have a scene between Wilson and Cameron. He found out she was trying to contact the press about the drugs, but she didn't manage to yet.
Then House and Stacy and Cuddy and everyone join them, saying the press got hold of bike guy's condition. Not that it's drugs but that it's cancer. Wilson says Cameron leaked them, but she didn't. House storms off to the patient, now having an idea; bike guy's condition can be explained by some drug called EPO, but he denies taking it. House says his manager has been feeding him it and that she fed the press some story (which she admits), and the bike guy fires her.
But, of course, the meds they give him don't work so it's not the EPO thing. Whoops, he needs a new manager. House makes his miracle diagnosis and tells the crew to scan the guy's neck. They find a tumor.
Then Wilson finds Cameron in House's office, watching the news. They have a long talk about "cheating" and Wilson admits what fans have been guessing- that he cheats on his wives. Cam tells us she fell in love with her dying husband's best friend because he was always "there" at the end; but they didn't do anything.
And... Then you saw the ending I guess so that's that :)

Who are you guys rooting for to get together?
I'm hopelessly for House/Cameron, but not for the whiny, little-girl-crushing Cam of late season 1. I like how they're handling her this season a lot more! JM and HL have nice chemistry when they're going head to head.
Wilson/Cam is interesting too, but I only support their friendship.
I was against Chase/Cam, but they made the hook-up work well. It was rather hot. They're both very pretty.
They've been throwing a lot of bones to the slash supporters lately, but I like the House/Wilson friendship. Nothing more!
I saw some previews and it looks like they're still gonna be pushing House/Stacy yet again (there's likely a kiss coming ), but that just makes me want to :banghead: Stacy needs to hurry the hell up and leave the show again. There's no chemistry there.
And then last episode (I think it was) with that patient played by the chick from Sex and the City? Her and House were kinda awesome together and I wouldn't mind her coming back.
And... I'm done.
Well, final mini-rant! I went back to NY two weeks ago (I'm came to Indiana for college and we now kinda bought an apartment here but my mom still works in NY where we lived for the past 14 years...) and I gave my season 1 DVDs to my best friend. We watched the first 4.5 episodes together and I got her hooked. Now I'm going through withdrawal and I'm very tempted to buy a new set since I might not get them back until the summer

I think by far the best chemistry is between House and Cuddy, so I'd like to see a little something going on there, but I don't think it would work for the show if they actually became a couple, so it's a bit complicated...which in a way is good I guess. They could milk it out for a long time.

I've watched only first episode of "House, M.D." so far... it's a good show (little deja vu - same actress as in Prison Break, playing the teacher :D) with very precise scenario... I wanted to watch this show, because one of the episodes has won an Emmy award, beating my favourite LOST episode, "Walkabout" O_o It'll take some time to download and watch those "The three stories" episode, but I'm very curious about it.

The show is absolutely awesome! Hugh Laurie has got to be one of the best actors in the world. His accent's so horrifyingly real. I love his character's huge sarcasm. He can pop a joke in the most intense situation and get away with it! It's enjoyable to watch the way House acts and what he says. Who cares about the patients or the medical cases? I watched this show when it first came on. Honestly, what attracted me to the show in the first place was Jesse Spencer, for he is a fellow Aussie and he was one of many favourite characters of mine when he was on Neighbours (I don't watch Neighbours anymore either, but Jesse was on it during the time I watched it), but I slowly went off of House, and House even started to annoy me. I thought it was funny what House did to Willson that poor guy. Before House left to go to the hospital, he stuck Wilson's hand into warm water while he was sleeping.
When I saw House fall with his cane, I thought there was something wrong with House. :giggle: But then I rolled when Wilson said "maybe someone saw you cane almost half way through while you were sleeping." House just looked at him.
I also liked it when House wanted him to stay.

Tuesday's episode was more of a filler, silly-fun eppy, but it was good.
House and Wilson are such a pair of kids  I really freaked when House tumbled, too. I was expecting it to be the most obvious stab at his "downward spiral of doom" that's been hinted at. But then I laughed... Still, it was a low blow :p He coulda gotten hurt.
Loved snarky!Cam and her shutdown of both Chase and House at the beginning. Heh.

After this week's episode, there is no doubt in my mind that House and Wilson are in love and meant to be together forever ;) Okay, I don't actually ship them, and I love their friendly dynamic. They're very close, but respect each others' limits, but also can sometimes be incredibly immature.

Loved the episode last night. Lotta stuff happened. Cameron was snarky, even though she's still got that underlayer of "being too nice" for her line of work. I felt bad for her at the end because Foreman's cold smackdown was uncalled for. I've always thought he has a soft spot for Cam, and suddenly they're "not friends"? Pft.
House sleeping all over the place was adorable. The clinic patient thing made me laugh. And the lesbian pair... Woah! What a twist at the end...

Seriously, no. I throughly enjoy the fact that Hugh Laurie can express a wide range of human emotions on his face rather than looking like an aging Ken doll, like some actors of a certain age. The eyes, the scruffiness, the emotional damage... there is a reason that Laurie has been dubbed 'the thinking woman's sex symbol'.

Yep, you're right. I checked Tvguide.com and it said it's on at eight on Wednesday. I never thought I would be happy that American Idol was on...

Just started watching House a couple of weeks ago and I adore it. I'm in the process of getting caught up. I've seen most of season 1 and a good bit of what I missed in season 2. But I've also been reading up on stuff I've missed so I'm not incredibly lost. Luckily it's pretty easy to hop into this show whenever and have a basic understanding of the character's relationships with one another.
House- is wonderful in a snarky, semi-evil way.
Wilson- is hands down the best character. Soo much love for him. Everytime he shows up there's a serious moment of happy for me :)
Foreman- I love him even though it seems a lot of people don't (because of what he said to Cameron, I'm assuming?). But oh well- he seems like the only duckling who will tell House when he thinks he's wrong. That's pretty cool.
Chase- Hee. Pretty. I enjoy him even though he can be kind of a tool.
Cameron- I'm trying so hard to like her but it's often times really difficult. I don't mind that she has morals, good for her! But sometimes she can act so unprofessional (case & point: Sleeping Dogs Lie). I tend to like her infinitley more when she's not crushing on House.
Cuddy- Also awesome.
Ships:
House/Wilson: As someone who has never seriously shipped a slash couple this pairing makes me so happy. They just seem so incredible right.
House/Cameron: I don't like this. I think it only weakens both of their characters. Plus I think it would be hell for poor Cameron (unless they dramatically change House's character).
House/Cuddy: I just see this ending in violence and House being beaten to death with his own cane. Because Cuddy is just that kick ass.
Cameron/Foreman: I am probably completely and utterly alone in liking the idea of this. I know they're at odds now but how pretty would they be? Plus I think Foreman would be a good change for Cameron.
In short, I love this show *off to watch more of S1*.

Haha. Welcome to fandom, everyoneisfake (and nice av! XF remains the best show in TV history :w00t:) You've nicely fallen into the general House pool with your views (House=snarky, evil and awesome; Foreman=kick ass, Chase=teh pretty, Cameron=hard to like even though she's generally right, largely due to her screwed up way of going about things; etc.)
And I assume you hang around TWoP? ("Ducklings" ;))
Anyhoo. I'm majorly hyped for Tuesday/Wednesday's two-parter. There's room for much angst!

I happen to like House and Cameron...I guess it's obvious from my banner, they fit perfectly, but it's true, they have a LOT of issues to work out before anything really big can happen.
I have a nervous feeling about the new episode, I never really hated or liked Foreman to begin with ( it has nothing to do with race. I'm a huge Cameron fan, those who know the show will know from that) but I don't want the guy to die.

Haha. House broke the MRI of D00M!
Foreman's giddiness early on had me laughing. Karma's a bitch, man.
Holy F*CK. When he stabbed Cameron, I screamed.
I can't even comment beyond that. Just need to note that House's "who wants to go next?" scene was heartbreaking.
I just gotta rewatch. But I have to keep reminding myself I don't have a few days to process it all! Holy sh*t, I love this show.

I know! That was really intense. I did not expect something like that from Foreman at all. Of course he wasn't exactly thinking logically, but still... it was scary.
I loved the line "House, get out of my temporal lobe!" The writers are so good at putting just the right amount of humor in the show, but making sure it's still really serious and tense.

I'm all worried about Foreman though, I'm going to be uneasy until tomorrow!

The MRI thing was brutal, watching the dead guy's head fly up when the bullet left his skull...but I loved House's reaction..

Ok, I am fairly new to this whole thing. Actually my bf watched the first season and said he had to stop because he was becoming a hypochondriac.:shifty:
I watched a bit of the first season, and I have been more loyal this season, and I have to ask, am I the only chick that loathes Cameron?
She is so unprofessional and so stereotypically "I'm just a girl" in a profession that has no tolerance for BS whatsoever. Her equivocating and odd moralising would get her kicked out of a residency program so fast, she wouldn't even have time to adopt that open-mouthed, morally outraged face she tends to make 90% of the time. I would blame her character flaws on the writers, but they do such an excellent job with everyone else(including Cuddy, so I can't claim sexism) that Cameron must just be the character that you are supposed to hate. I almost cheered when Foreman stabbed her. I finally hoped the girl would wake up and smell the coffee that the real world is brewing.

 I think I had a heart attack watching that episode last night. I thought that it was a really good. I am so excited that the new one is coming on right before lost. I dont think I am going to live through tonight...:thud: Lost and House on the same night................
I never really hated or really liked Foreman but I hope that he is okay. I think everyone would be distraught if they lost one of their own. My mouth hit the floor when he stabbed Cameron in the leg and he said, "now you have it." I cant wait to see what happens tonight. The preview was good too. Foreman was talking with his father.
I laughed at the part when House shot the corpse and that guy ran in and goes, "Did you hear that?" House said, "I just shot him....he's dead." I laughed at the part where he blew out the power.

I can't stand Cameron. She's... ugh. She reminds me of Kate (Lost, who I also hate). They both go around not doing much, making the same "morally outraged face" constantly.
Although she did earn a few points by forgiving Foreman. ;)

I thought House did an amazing job for being under that kind of pressure. He never gave up on trying to find out what was wrong with Foreman. (:w00t: cheers for House).
:giggle: I liked this part:
House: As soon as (Steve the Rat) gets sick, I do an autopsy.
Dr. Wilson: As soon as he's dead.
House: Right after he gets sick, there's a good chance he'll get hit in the head with a...cane-shaped object.
