I loved their story. The moment that just killed me was right before Desmond put the key in and he was having memories of Penelope. So beautiful!

It's not so much about her personality. More of the fact that there is a possibility we'll get more scenes off-island in present day. I think the only off-island scenes should be in flashbacks. The island is what makes Lost! Anything else = NOT GOOD. That's why I really don't like Penny. And I thought she was kinda boring.

oo yes I think we all want that. Desmond and Penelope's story got me for the most part because it is has emerged out of the blue as crucial to the story and the way they played it over the finale was just brilliant. I hope you come to like Pen. I can't say I know her inside out but I just think their relationship seems very pure and genuine to me. I can see Daire though they had a cool scene in the finale ;) He likes blondes hehe

I watched the finale again, and was kind of analyzing Penny. Because it's very clear that Desmond cares about Penny a lot, but it was a little harder to see how Penny felt (maybe because she only had two scenes).

So here's my theory:

Basically I think Penny was just kind of unsure of where she and Desmond stood. After Desmond got out of prison, she was perfectly willing to take him as he was. She still loved him, in spite of whatever it was he did. As far as her getting engaged, I would assume that her father put a lot of pressure on her (this is just a theory of mine...she seemed pretty independent of her father though, so maybe not) and she was unsure of Desmond's love for her, since she never received a single one of his letters. So somehow or another, she ended up getting engaged.

Or, as a different theory, maybe some nice guy who liked Penny came along, and she ended up engaged to him, mostly due to her being unconfident in Desmond's love for her. But, if that's the case, a part of herself must have still been holding on to Desmond, since she said she and her unknown fiancé "hadn't set a date yet," and it doesn't appear that they ever got married.

The other issue, was of course, Desmond. Like I said, Penny was perfectly wiling to marry Desmond right then and there, but Desmond wasn't ready yet. I think he felt like he had to "get his honor back" (:lotsalove: he's so cute.) to feel like he deserved to be married to Penny.

So: the point is, I think Penny loves Desmond very much, I think we need some Penny flashbacks, and I think this ship is one of the sweetest things I've ever seen.

...Wowie. Long post. (That's because I'm procrastinating. I mean, if you had a choice between being on L-F and researching the habitat of the White Rhino, which would YOU pick?)

When I saw the title of this ship "Dope", I thought of the old timey meaning of the word which is stupid, idiot, fool. I have to admit, I thought it was funny and apropo. I read the article and agreed that all the stuff he mentioned was corny but don't much like the ship as much and don't like his theory that this is "Lost" now.

:w00t: I'm definately joining this ship after "Flashes Before Your Eyes" - I liked Dope before, but now I absolutely love it!

I love Desmond and Penny's love story - I almost cried in the whiskey scene when her father told Desmond he wasn't good enough for her. The whole episode was pretty confusing (in a good way :giggle:) and the mystery was amazing, but I think the relationship between Penny and Desmond grounded it and made it more real. The whole epi just had an amazing feel to it. Dope are the OTP of Lost. :love:

Flashes Before Your Eyes made me love with Des/Penny. Thier love story was touching and the two actors have great onscreen chemistry. I don't think we were given enough information about Penny in the s2 finale for me to really form an opinion on her, but that ep made me love her. I love that she came from this wealthy family but it didn't matter to her that Desmond didn't have money or that her father didn't approve of him. She even moved out of her expensive flat for him. I love that she wanted to be with him simply because he was a good man. I really hope they'll be reunited in the future.
