I love them both, though I think I prefer Linkin Park a bit more. Mike Shinoda is an incredibly talented guy though, to be able to change styles like he has. Any news of a new LP album any time soon?

Gotta jump in here, one of my favourite bands of all time and I've been listening to them since they first came onto the scene. I went to the LP concert a couple of years ago in Wembley Arena, awesome stuff. Some of their music is a bit heavy in places and Chester screams a little unecessarily at times but on the whole their music has been refreshing.
Shame, seems like they wont be making any more albums but it's been great while it lasted. HT is probably their best album as every song on it is great. From Reanimated I like the Run@way remix the most.

I can't wait for the new single, I'm mostly curious about the new sound :)
Most information about the new album is hear: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linkin_Park%27s_third_studio_album
The new album is going to have more tracks than the previous albums (about 18,) which I think is great. I also hope they have some slightly longer ones aswell.
I dont think i'd like the album to be called Trials and Triblulations as some people have come to believe. (Chester said in an interview that it would be called "T_____ and T_____". Given this clue, a popular guess amongst fans (and the interviewer) is the title "Trials and Tribulations."However, in a recent interview Phoenix stated that the album title hasn't been chosen yet.)
I'm confident that Linkin Park will fall on their feet. And i suspect it will be there biggest album yet :D:up:

The Linkin Park Underground has confirmed that Linkin Park's long awaited third release, entitled Minutes to Midnight, will be released Tuesday, May 15th in the United States, and Monday, May 14th in all other countries.
The first single is to be released April 2nd, and is titled 'What I've Done.'
Lots more articles here. (http://www.lpassociation.com/)
"The title is a reference to the Doomsday Clock, which was created by these scientists at the University of Chicago after the United States dropped the atomic bomb on Japan to end World War II,"

Brad talks about a song called "The Little Things Give You Away," which sounds really awsome. 6 minutes long, LP have never done a song over 4 minutes.

If you haven't heard, Linkin Parks new single 'What I've Done' was released April 2nd and made it's debut at #7 on this weeks Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Been listening to the new album, very interesting sound to say the least - the tracks have a mix of Nickelback tones, Prince guitar rifts and a bit of cheesy Euro Pop. I'm still not sure if I like it but I'll stick with it for a while.

I think the new single is ace. I think it's going to act as more of a transistion piece between their old style and their new stuff. The video I think, is one of their best, they sound alot more grown up and that shows in the video.
Kerrang! produced a track-by-track analysis which proves very interesting. All the band members seem all to be hyping up 'The little things give you away,' which is all about Hurricane Katrina.
you can view the whole article here. (http://www.lpassociation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24261) These are some excerpts that I found particulary interesting.
Shadow of the Day
Brad: This was probably the most difficult arrangment to nail. It sounded very derivative at first but then we kept kept replacing different elements on it. We put an acoustic guitar on it, then an electric banjo and then a marimba. It's definetley one of the best songs we've written.
The Little Things Give You Away
Brad: This is our favourite song on the record. It’s the biggest statement that we’ve ever made. Nothing could go after it as everything would get eclipsed by it. The thing that really makes it is the guitar solo.
In Between
Chester: I knew that Mike should really sing this song. I tried it once, I did a good job, but it just didn’t have the power of Mike’s performance because he really believed what he was singing. Whatever it is that the [expletive] is apologising for on this track, he’s [expletive] serious! It comes from the most sincere and heartfelt place.
For those who don't know, the tracklisting is as follows:
01. Wake
02. Given Up
03. Leave Out All The Rest
04. Bleed It Out
05. Shadow Of The Day
06. What I've Done
07. Hands Held High
08. No More Sorrow
09. Valentine's Day
10. In Between
11. In Pieces
12. The Little Things Give You Away
- That fake album sounds great :p

I'm kind of annoyed that so many people didn't like M2M. I thought it was really good, even if it wasn't up to the standars of Hybrid Theory and Meteora. It was just different.
Personally, I don't consider the Reanimation or J-Z + LP albums even part of LP. Repetitive and useless.
Did you guys at least like a few songs? My favorites were Given Up, Bleed it Out, Shadow of the Day, What I've Done, Hands Held High, and No More Sorrow. All of the others were kind of boring, but not horrible or anything.

I am the hight of impressed with this record. To me, it's the greatest album I have ever listened to :coolguy:. I hope the Love it or Hate it mentality doesn't hurt Linkin Park reputation to much.
I think it needs a couple of listenings with an open mind to get into, but I think it's worth it. My favourite tracks are: The Little Things Give You Away, Shadow Of The Day, Hands Held High, Bleed It Out and In Pieces.
I also hear the first week sales to excess 600k, making it the highest of the year. :)

Nice. ;)
I completely agree with you though. It takes a few listens through the whole album to let it kind of sink in and grow on you. But after that, it really is great. I've listened to it at least 15+ times all the way through now and I think it's amazing. The songs stand out more than the ones from Hybrid Theory and Meteora did. You can really enjoy them over and over again almost nonstop unlike ones from the previous albums that just kind of get old after a while, even if they were really great for a while.
I really wish fans would give this more a chance before just writing it off as horrible because it's lost the old heavy sound the band used to produce. There are some really well-written and well-sung songs on the album (Hands Held High, Shadow of the Day, & In Between particularly) that may not be heavy and hardcore, but really sound great and powerful with such strong lyrics.
If anything, I think this will only greaten LP's reputation. The album kind of allows for more lighter-genre fans to get to know the band and like them too. It gives the band a place in history as one of very few bands who have such a wide variety of music and can make almost anything sound great.
Anyway, I could care less about what kind of reputation it has. As long as they continue to make good music anyhow. If the rest of the world misses out on such a great band, I don't care as long as I still listen to them. :boogie:
I am IN LOVE with Leave Out All the Rest.
Hands Held High is good too. And I like What I've Done.
And those are the only ones I've heard so far.

Honestly, when first listening to Minutes to Midnight, I wasn't overly sure whether I loved it of hated it, because it's so very different from their previous two. However, after listening to it a few times, addiction started to kick in. It's one of those albums that you really have to listen to several times to appreciate, everytime I listen to it, I hear something that I didn't hear the time before. Now I can't stop listening to it, and I'd go as far to say that this is their greatest album.
It annoys me that people are mad at them for changing their sound, it was a change for the better in my opinion. If they had have carried on and went in the route of their older stuff, it would have began to get very repetitive.
I think as a whole I'd rate the album a 9, some songs I'm still not to sure on, though they'll probably grow on me (i.e. Hands Held High) but others just blow me away. Favorites thus far,
Bleed it Out
Given Up
What I've Done
In Pieces
Valentines Day
Leave Out All the Rest
In Between
I can't choose only one favorite, they're all so brilliant.
This album may not be as heavy as their other stuff, but hell, it's more powerful, extremely well written, and their greatest album by far. They've proven just how brilliant they are, by changing their style and managing to sound AMAZING.

I completely agree with every part of your "review" (except for the bit about Hands Held High- which is one of my favorites on the album).
I pretty much love every song now and have gotten to used to all of them except In Pieces and In Between. They're the only two I still haven't really gotten to the point of great appreciation for. Hyrbid Theory for me has always been their best album with Meteora coming close. Minutes to Midnight required repeated listening for me and so I have come to the conclusion that M2M is right there with Meteora only it has its own style, yet still behind HP.
My album Rankings:
Hybrid Theory - Classic Linkin Park, very good set of songs that set the standard. 10/10
Meteora - A continuation of HP, not as great but still has some great stuff in there. 9/10
Minutes to Midnight - Different yet good. Shinoda is in less and is missed but Bennington makes up for it with his strongest vocals on any LP album. 8/10
Reanimation - I hate remixes but I love this one. While the album is good I hate the filler tracks that interrupt between the songs with the exception of the buildup for Crawling, which I thought was very well done. 7/10

My ratings and thoughts as I was listening to the album:
Wake - 3/5 Not too bad for an intro track. I'm never going to listen to this again, but it sounds alright
Given Up - 4/5 Good old style Linkin Park sound. The f-words surprised me though. LP isn't known for swearing and normally I don't care if a band does it. Hmm...they swear a little too much on here, enough to knock the rating down a notch
Leave Out All The Rest - 3/5 Is iTunes playing songs randomly? Am I really listening to LP?
Bleed It Out - 4/5 That's better, we have the old style back :) The horrible 2nd track is still in my head though...
Shadow Of The Day - 2/5 Again I check to see if iTunes is set to random play. This doesn't sound like LP! When I see that it is in fact LP I start to get a little pissed off.
What I've Done - 4/5 Ah, the first single off the cd. I liked it when I first heard it and I like it now. It's not totally amazing though.
Hands Held High - 1/5  What the hell? What happened to LP? What the crap is this? Once I hear that annoying hallelujah over and over again I am ready for the album to END!
No More Sorrow - 4/5 That's better. I would have not finished the album if this song sucked. They haven't redeemed themselves though
Valentine's Day - 2/5 I look in disbelief at iTunes. How the hell can this be LP? The song pisses me off, but not as much as Hands Held High. I hope the next song is good...
In Between - 3/5 Well, the song isn't good. I'm still pissed off about the Hands Held High and the song doesn't do anything to make me not pissed off. I check to see how many tracks are left. Only two? I might as well finish the album so I can say how horrible it is.
In Pieces - 3/5 Oh I'm so bored, so so bored. How many minutes in the song are left? Oh so bored, such a mediocre song. I hope the last track is short.
The Little Things Give You Away - 2/5 Great the last track is the longest one. Why should I finish the album? It's not going to suddenly get better...or is it? Nope, false alarm.
Over all - I'm not going to bother rating this worthless album. It sounds like the same poppy crap we hear on the radio all the time. This album is what makes Linkin Park dead to me. I don't even want to listen to their old stuff anymore.
Linkin Park has joined the Don't Bother list. If another album comes out I will buy it only to destroy it in various ways. I wonder if running over MTM with my car would destroy it enough...or putting it in an old microwave...or breaking it in half and putting it down the garbage disposal...no, not the garbage disposal, I don't want something worthless to break it.
The cd hit #1 in over 15 countries, platinum in at least 9, and gold in at least 13.
amazing
The only reason the cd hit number 1 is because of fans like me who thought the album was going to be a big success. They like me bought the album the instant it came out and are now trying to get rid of it.
Another reason is that since it sounds like the same crap we hear everyday the masses who don't know anything about their old stuff suddenly say "Oh I like that new band LP!"

Yeah, It's a great video. :D
Shadow Of The Day is scheduled to be filmed some time soon, so I think it's safe to assume this will be the next single. :w00t:

I hate Linkin Park since their new album. They completely change their style of music. Before, they were making good music. But now.... It's too much pop. Where are the old Linkin Park ? :(

Yup, I love LP. :) They're my favorite band, of course.
My favorites are Crawling, In the End, and Numb. I love Crawling, the most, perhaps.
As for my favorite album, it's a tie between Meteora and Hybrid Theory. But of course, I love the rest, too.
I'm listening to the One Step Closer demo, Plaster, right now.

:sigh: Same here. It seems like alot of the good international/American bands always manage to skip the cities I live by.

I really like the lead singers voice when hes not yelling/screaming the lyrics out,, which is unfortunately rare. so that stops me from getting into the band.
i love the songs My December an What I've Done though.
