Is he ok? I'm worried about service members that return back from the war since I've heard that there have been budget cuts made to veteran's care by the government. I hope your guy has access to all that he needs in terms of health care, and that he'll be ok. I have a family relative that's serving in Baghdad, and he's slated to return early spring next year. I hope that he'll be ok because my stepmother keeps worrying about him. :(

I was asked what animal I would be the other day, so after about an hour of thinking, I realized that I'm a lot like a hawk. Which may seem strange. Well, second place was a wolf. Then a tiger. I was watering some verbena and moss rose seeds I planted which STILL show no signs of sprouting when my 'spidey-sense' told me something was moving, so I looked over and in this hole/depression I thought I saw fur! So, on closer examnation it WAS fur and it was moving! No eyes, appendages or anything, just 1-2 square inches of fur. So, I steeled myself for the worst, imagining something the size of a Capybara twisting around to bite my hand off - and VERY quickly reached down, and with the stealthy speed of a ninja on crack, pinched it's fur and skin and deftly flipped it onto the driveway in one smooth move lasting , perhaps, a nanosecond or 2. Then, after confirming I had lost no major limbs - and deciding to postpone rejoicing at retaining ALL of my precious 'bodily fluids' for later, turned to see what looked for all intents and puposes like a malformed sausage squirming on a hot grill. These things are COMPLETELY and utterly helpless above ground! After it righted itself (a feat which took some time and not a little effort) it moved off with all the speed of a Valium filled paraplegic tortoise. I picked it up by the scruff of it's neck and, after a brief model release form signing and Union card check, had my middle daughter digitally record our meeting for posterity. The creature 'visited' with us in a shoebox long enough to be introduced to my wife - an event they will both long remember (AAaaahhhh - my ears!) before being released in my most hated neighbor's lawn 3 doors down.

Well, I used poetic license to make it funnier. The mole actually got a coupla' acres of vacant lot about 6 blocks away to move into.

They eat invertebrates - that's OK but their upper layer of tunnels cause ridges and ruts in the lawn. Sometimes criiters that will eat your plants use mole tunnels for access - but moles don't eat plant material.

Jazzdance and ballet are my favorite hobbies since 13 years. (Unfortunately, I had an injury on my left ankle three years ago which didn't heal the way I should have.. Since then, toe-dancing hurt very much and I had to give it up...) I've been never good enough for professional dance, but I just love it. We have between four and six shows/year.
