1 being most recently purchased... or if you have only ever purchased less than 5 DVDs, list those.

1. The Shawshank Redemption (10th Anniversary, 2-disc Special Edition)
2. Gladiator (Single-disc release)
3. The Godfather, Part II (Independent 2004 release)
4. The Godfather (Independent 2004 Release)
5. LOST Season One Box Set

Shawshank and Gladiator were part of a two-for-$30 (New Zealand Dollars) deal and I purchased Godfathers I and II seperately from the box set because I am not at all fond of Part III. Looking forward to upcoming Region 4 releases of Harry Potter, King Kong, Brokeback Mountain and A History of Violence, though.

All mine has is a featurette I haven't watched yet. I didn't even see this movie until I bought the DVD a couple weeks ago, even though I am a huge fan of Frank Miller's work. I was really pleased with the amount of involvment he had in making this movie, it was almost like watching the comic books.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I haven't been to the thread it a while. To answer your question, I think even the non-Hip Hop fans will enjoy it. My mom did and she doesn't like rap. She didn't love it but she thought it was pretty good. I loved it but I also love rap. As for renting or buying, I would suggest renting. And then if you like/love it you could buy it:D

The truman show...man that movie freaked me out (admittedly I was only 10ish when I saw it!) I thought cameras were watching me too! It took me years to get over that phobia!

Anywayz recently bought films:

Lost Season 2 (preorder)
Girl With a Pearl Earring
Mean Girls
Napolean Dynamite
Run Lola Run

BTW I only ever buy DVD's once I've seen the film/TV show and loved them enough to want to watch them again hence all the ones on this list are HIGHLY recommended! My next planned DVD purchase is Memento! It is sooo good!

"Gosh" Javery (get it? Napolean?), you should definitely get Memento. It's been a few years since I have seen it, but I remember it as an amazing movie! Same with Run Lola Run. I liked it when I first saw some years ago.
I love Napolean! His dance at the end was fantastic! Whenever I hear Jamiroquai at a club I just laugh!
"What do you feel like doing to day Napolean?"
"I'll do whatever I want to do...Gosh!"

"Get your own teeter totters!"

BIG W, a store much like Target had a huge DVD sale so I went nuts on my lunch break. They were retailing for as little as $AU 8.90!

Wish Id read this a bit earlier. Must see if its still on. Big W also have dvd's down to $AU 6.99.

Ezydvd has a sale on right now too. Their prices range from $AU 2.95 - $AU14.00 :) - my poor bank account, im actually trying to save money.

They didn't have season 3 but I got a raincheck :w00t:Buffy has always been on my list to eventually get one day. So far I only have s1 :( They are always too expensive in Australia - $50AUD for a long time. They came down to $30 last year, but im still waiting...

Buffy was always around $32.00-$39.00 here. Circuit City had a sale on them for $19.99 all seasons :w00t: so I couldn't resist. They're still sealed though. I haven't gotten a chance to look at any of them I'm still trying to finish one of the box sets I got for Christmas. :giggle:

The other movie was Alfred Hitchcock's To Catch a Thief :)

I heard this one is very good, Pauli. It has that girl from Candy in the cast!
When you see it, let me know what you think... I'm sure you'll answer me... perhaps... next year? lol

:D Next year? lol. Abbie Cornish is her name. I saw Somersault in the cinemas when it first came out a few years ago. I think 2004. I really enjoyed it. It's a story about a girl who is lost and is going on this journey trying to make sense of things. Some parts are a bit shocking Full on sex scenes and nude scenes. But I'm sure - like with violence- you can look past it:D .. Sam Worthington is good too, his performance very touching. Visually, it is stunning. It has that slow moving "Virgin Suicides" element to it. The movie is set in Jindabyne and other snowy areas of Australia so you get that dreamy feeling.

Soundtrack I might add is amazing. It was done by Decoder Ring and I saw them play in some bar last year. Here is there myspace page (http://myspace.com/decoderringsounds) with some sample tracks to get a feel of what the movie might be like.

OMG, that was fast, Pauli!! So, I won't have to wait 'till next year, uh? lol
I've read a lot of good reviews about this movie, but it wasn't released here (and I'm afraid I lost its screening in Rio Festival...) even on DVD... So, I'll probably have to get it through illegal ways... :eh:
I'm listening to Decoder Ring now... it's very good! I love soundtracks! I'll probably like their music more after I see the film... I'm sure you feel the same way (in fact, everyboby!) about film tracks... the images get "imprinted" on the notes... so as your own feelings when you watched them.
Abbie Cornish is a great actress... but I only saw one of her few films (Candy, like I said). I wish we had more aussie releases here... it's so hard, specially when there's no hollywood actors... We only get things like "Ned Kelly" or "Little Fish"... not that I'm complaining about them... 'cause they're excellent movies, but I love independent stuff...

The girl is gorgeous! I had meet her at the IF Awards on the Gold Coast last year, she practically had glamour shots taken since she arrived and went through make up, until the broadcast began that night.
I had to try and avoid being starstruck each time I passed her... but seriously, she looked so good, it was hard not to look.

Thought you might ask that question!

Civic Video. And no, not all were ex rentals. I missed their Aussie Day sale, but they still had stuff left over + the new ones they sell. So yeah $6 each.

Most of them are blind buys. I know people who worked on Aquamarine, so I got it, havent seen it yet.
Snakes On A Plane... why not, just wanted to see what it was like.
I saw the trailer for El Cortez - looks like a fantastic crime capper, done well on a low budget, so looking forward to seeing that.
The Librarian II - never saw I, but the cover looks interesting, I like action/adventures :)
16 Blocks - had to see it, heard great reviews - a filmmaker's film.
The Fog. It has Maggie Grace, need I say more. Well actually, every attempt in the past to copy this dvd has failed, scratches, crc errors, etc. etc.
And Material Girls for my girlfriend.

Edit:

Got some more dvds today. (14.02.07)
