I've talked to several ppl who read this book. Has anyone else read this book? if u haven't than i seriously recomend it. the reading is so worth it. and if u can go see the musical. that was hands down the best thing i ever saw. the author's depiction of what happened in Oz is so amazingly creative.

for those of you who read the book and saw the musical: which did you like better? for once, i actually loved the stage adaptation better than the book. it was so vivd, and music was just...fantastic! other opinions?

I love this book with a passion, and ditto for the musical. If I had to pick which I liked better, I'd say the book, but I don't think it's really possible to compare them; they're two vastly different mediums, and the plots are pretty different as well. They're both amazing in their own ways. :)

Hey, did anyone else think Elphaba should have ended up with Boq in the book? *crickets* Fine. :p I loved her with Fiyero in the musical ("As Long as You're Mine" gave me chills), but he didn't seem to have as much personality or purpose in the book. Boq, on the other hand, was annoying in the musical (and turned into the Tin Man...what was with that? :blank:), but in the book, he was one of the most lovable characters and had great interaction with Elphie.

For the record, I absolutely love this scene:

"Boq, you know despite myself I think you're a little sweet. You're a little sweet and you're a little charming and you're a little maddening and you're a little habit-forming."
Boq held his breath.
"But you're little!" she concluded. You're a Munchkin, for god's sake!"
He kissed her, he kissed her, he kissed her, little by little by little.

Awesome! I saw it on Broadway as a birthday present. Actually, an online friend sent me the money for it. Bless the Internet. ;)

Love the novel, love the Broadway soundtrack even more. I may be going to see the show for my birthday in April, and I can't wait!

Mayfly, I enjoyed that little scene as well. I was rooting for Elphie to end up with Boq (I couldn't stand Fiyero in the book...).

I've been wanting to read this for some time now, but I haven't found the time. I'll be sure to now, since all of you seem to love it.
I really want to see the musical, I love musicals, plus my English teacher constantly raves about it, and she's pretty cool so... I'm hoping it will come to my town.

I love this book. I read it when it first came out and just finished rereading it. Now I'm reading the "sequel"?, "Son of a Witch". It's pretty good so far.

:rotflol: I don't know what it is about teachers and "Wicked." A bunch of the teachers at my school came in wearing the T-shirts one day. Guess they just have good taste. ^_^

Aaahh! I had no idea that existed! I just looked it up on Amazon and it got great reviews, and now I want it desperately. *bounces around and throws confetti*

I really wanna see the musical of that and I'm searching for the book. I've heard the songs and I love them so much, but it'd be far better to see people performing them on stage.

I read the book before I saw the musical. I liked the ending in the show better. I enjoyed the book but I don't think I'd read it again. I'm a theatre kid, so of course I adore the musical.

Mu husband read it and hated it, so of course I had to read it. :p I thought it was so-so, a bit too clever for its own good in parts. But enjoyable nevertheless. :)

Wicked is one of my favorite books so I'm glad to see people here like it. A couple of weeks ago I was in this book forum I go to sometimes, and the majority of people seemed to hate it. They said it was too boring and a lot of them hadn't even gotten past the first few chapters.

It's been awhile since I've read Son of a Witch, but I remember thinking that I enjoyed it, but not nearly as much as Wicked.

I haven't finished this book yet, but what I've read I think is great. I just loved the idea of explaining how Elphaba became "Wicked" so much, it's such a unique idea everyone else just accepts that she was Wicked, no one asked why.

Moonhowler15 - I can't believe people said they didn't like it! *shakes head*

I saw the musical last month and loved it, I'm going to say more than the book because I haven't finished it yet, and the songs are amazing, defying gravity anyone?

Also anyone thinking of going to see the musical in London should, the lead Kerry Ellis has such a powerful voice! She blew me away!

I'm seeing the show in London in a few weeks so I thought I'd finally get the book and see firstly if it's good or not, and secondly how it differs from the show. I'm obsessed with the music, so I know I'll love the show.

So far, I'm really enjoying the book, it's starting to turn into one of those books i can't put down until I'm finished, even though i already know what happens

Gonna buy the sequel when I'm done as well.
