View Full Version : Children laughing as the Hatch door closes??

Did anyone else happen to rewind when Locke was coming out of the hatch, and Charlie was waiting to ask him to get Claire's trust back? I SWEAR I heard children laughing, like there were kids in the hatch--I know, weird, and not really a plot topic, but I watched it three times before I went on with the show and chalked it up to a squeaky door! :p

Actually, yes. I heard something similar just for a moment right before the door closes. Then again, it may just be the door squeaking (they should oil it :p). It sounded different from the other sqeaks we heard there though.

To which I thought, as I have posted before, that Claire and Aaron should be living in the hatch, instead of exposing the baby to living outdoors--but Locke made a good point about the alarm going off all the time! Anyway, there aren't any other kids left, so maybe it was just something thrown in to bug me! Actually, the first time I heard it, I got up and checked on my kids to see if THEY had been giggling, THEN went back to rewind my tape!! :)

When I heard it, I actually thought Claire and the baby were already in there.

I'm a dork to keep replying to my own thread, but the laugh sounded like older kids--that baby, as HUGE as he is, is less than two months old... OK, I'll stop monitoring my thread now, like a good little girl...

Wow I didn't notice it either but me and my dad were going to re-watch the episode later so I'll listen for it.

ok it sounds like a baby crying for a moment, but then it sounds like a sort of howling thing in the woods or somthing, a howlign eerily similar to the one in the radio in the preview for next week. anyone else hear it like this?

OK I think some of you are digging a bit too deep, no way in hell you hear children crying or laughing in that scene, it really is just the hatch door that's making that sound :)

maybe it is overanalyzing, but i think not. the show is very big on sound design. they said they worked for a long time trying to get the monster's sounds right for the first season, so i have a hunch this will matter. at any rate, no use quibbling about it now.

This is slightly off topic, but happens during the same scene. When Charlie and Locke are talking there is a moment where it looks like Locke says something, but nothing is audible. It is right before he says, "Trust is a hard thing to win back." Has anyone else noticed this? I can't quite read his lips to figure out what he says.

I've played it a couple of times loud and quiet, and it just sounds like a aqueeky door to me. Notice it stops after the door is open, before Locke closes it.

I didn't get to see the preview--but THAT would be cool if it was the same sound coming from the radio... I guess I have to wait until Feb 8th to hear it again (if they repeat this episode before the new epi!!) I am usually not an over analyzer--believe me, this is not the most off the wall I've seen on this forum! ha ha--how many people are talking about where all the TARPS come from today?? :)

Listening for it a second time, it did sound like a child for a sec. But I just thought it was the door when I first saw it.
