Was anyone else chanting "Emmy, Emmy!" during White Rabbit tonight? MF kicked it in the ass. I still have a pitt in my stomach.

I was amazed. At first, I didn't think he could pull off leading man status in this talented ensemble, but he more than proved his worth this episode. Incredible.

Matt is the best male crier on TV today. He makes it look so effortless and has the ability to stir empathy in anyone watching. My mom doesn't really care for Jack or MF's performance on the show (because she's a crackhead, heh) but even she said she got a little misty when Jack teared up.
Oh, me! I'm sitting there going "Matthew! Add THAT to your emmy reel NOW!!!"
Also, he's so much more attractive while crying than MV was on Alias. I hate to say it, because MV is my main man (though I gotta say MF is catching up rapidly, lol). But Matt cries more attractively than Michael, lol...
And besides the crying, his delivery of the speech to the castaways at the end, when he takes the leadership role...so perfectly delivered.

I couldn't put it better myself!
My heart immediately went out to him... when he was crying, yeah, but also when he was at the airport giving the "I need it to be over... I need to bury my father" speech. I pretty much broke down then. He was so desperate. It was heartbreaking. :(

Like when he was talking to his mom...his eyes gott all teary..and he was trying to choke back his tears....it was all done so wonderfully! And he reaaaally makes you feel for him.....and he looks so good doing it all which is just more awesome...cause not all actors looks hot when they're crying :p

OMG, that scene was acted so perfectly. It could've been overdone, but it was compelling and understanded and guh. So good.

I know this is an old post, but I had to leave my message here.
Matthew Fox is the best actor I know ! He is a true inspiration for any actor !
And it is a SHAME that he has never been indicated or won an Emmy until now !
I hope Matthew FINALLY has his talent and hard work appreciated by his peers in the very near future ! :)

Emmy, Emmy, yes, yes!!!! As for his crying scenes, most definately, he's the best and most attractive crier. :)

I told him in the letter I wrote to him that I hope he gets the recognition from his peers that he deserves. I love him! He's now my favorite actor ever, because he's just so good at it. He better get some awards soon!
If Matt is not nominated for an Emmy...then I will be really surprised. He is so amazing at what he does and he deserves an award!

Sadly I don't keep my hopes so high :(
Matt did a wonderful job during 6 years on Party of Five, and the industry pretended not to see what a great actor he his ! So many minor actors were indicated (and won) Emmys during that 6 year period and Matt wasn't even indicated once !
Only now he has started to be indicated ! Check this link: Foxy's Award indications so far (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0289142/awards)
Let's not kid ourselves... Hollywood is an industry that thinks basically in making money. Like any industry... it has it's rules and if you kiss ass they love you, if you don't, they ignore you.
The only reason that comes to my mind, for Hollywood being so unprofessional about Matt (not recognizing the crafted actor he is) is the fact that Matt never kissed their ass.
Matt is a very family oriented man and that seems to not rest well with Hollywood. They like stars that gather at every Hollywood event and say loud and clear what a wonderful industry Hollywood is. They like people that would give their souls for fame and fortune. If you don't do what Hollywood asks you to, they simply pretend you don't exist.
It is sick but it has always been that way.
Matt has been indicated (so far) for 2 awards this year so I do have hopes that he will finally be recognized by his peers. Of course, we Foxy fans KNOW how talented he is, but a professional always dreams of being recognized by it's peers. And of course we know Foxy loves acting and that he feels happy and realized when doing a good job. But it is human nature to want your hard work appreciated.
So let's keep hoping... that by 2006 Matthew will have been recognized for his talent ! :D

I think you're absolutely right Ana. It's a shame that because Matt isn't into the whole Hollywood scene, he's kind of out of the loop when it comes to awards season. I think if I had to choose though, I'd rather know that he's a great actor, who's very family-oriented and down-to-earth, than know that Matt's some stuck-up, big Hollywood hot-shot who gets a million awards. That's what I love about him... he just seems like a nice guy. I really do hope he gets recognized for his talent though. And if he doesn't, then at least I hope that HE knows how many fans he has, and how much he is admired.

dreamcatcher I make your words mine !
One of the things that I find so fascinating about Matt (besides the wonderful and inspiring actor) is the family man he is. I totally admire that in him, specially in his case, having had such a huge success in POF for years and now again on Lost. He knows what are the important things of life and he has never sold his soul to the industry like most actors do. I think that this is one of the reasons he is such a generous actor. I bet everyone that does a scene with him will tell you how generous Matt is, how easy he makes it for them, how inspiring it is to work with him. I think Matt prefers to be a family man than a Hollywood star and that is the way he feels happy.
But I do wish him recognition from the industry, so he can smile and know his hard work is appreciated by those that know the business from inside.
Some times I'm sad that Matt will be 40 next year and hasn't made a good big screen movie in which he could show everyone the wonderful actor he is. Some times I wish he would be (by now) a Hollywood star, famous like Tom Cruise, etc... I would love for him to be famous around the world, to be recognized by my family and friends here in Brazil... to be a house hold name...
I would love to show off Matthew Fox, the wonderfully talented actor I admire so much, NOW, a Hollywood movie star...
But then again, I wouldn't like him to be part of the Hollywood scheme...
And most importantly... would Hollywood make Matt happy ? Something tells me no.
Now with the success of Lost, I confess I am a little worried about the movies Matt will be offered. I don't want him to make a wrong decision (though in my opinion he has only made good decisions). I don't want him to jump to the opportunity to do ANY movie. I think it is important that Matt only agrees to do those movies that really have something to say. Enough of the silly stuff Hollywood puts out year after year.
I think Matt's jump to the silver screen has to be in a part that will lead him to an Oscar indication and who knows, maybe even make him win the Oscar ! I know he isn't getting any younger, that time is running and we all feel he deserves to be recognized for his talent and hard work, but I sincerely hope he won't make any silly movie. I think it is a crime to waste Matt's talent on the kind of material Hollywood movie stars get nowadays (we know they are all about the money).
So I pray that in a not so far future, Matt receives that invitation that every actor dreams of... and that the academy bows down to his talent :D

well said anacosta... i read a quote from foxy in people mag.. and here it is, i think it best sums up what he feels about his career...
"I love that I seem to be building," says Fox (on location in Hawaii). "If it takes my whole life to build a resume or gain people's respect as an actor, that's good."
I love that he's so modest... what a great man that foxy is

Isn't he sweet? And ana, it's not the end of the world that he is going to be 40. It's not the end of the world, plenty of actors haven't won an Academy Award until they were older than 40. :D He's got time yet. He's a big, handsome man who will likely age well.

Awwwww... I hope it doesn't take him that long. As an actor, he's definitely got my respect. I've never felt so strongly about an actor before I was introduced to the amazing Matthew Fox.

Oh laurenb... I had never seen that People magazine quote ! If you know where I can read the entire article please let me know.
So you see... he DOES want to be appreciated and respected as an actor !
That's what makes me sad... that Matt is such a wonderful AND generous actor, and the system pretends he is invisible.
While at the same time they reward actors that do a good job, yet have nothing special. some actors are rewarded by the industry, for one specific work they've done well. many of those same actors only did well in one type of character. When you look at other works the have done, they were less than ordinary. Yet Matt is marvelous in EVERY work he does !
Matt is much better than so many actors that are praised on a daily basis. It is just so unfair.
I agree with you laurenb, that quote from People magazine shows how humble Matt is about his talent.
The other day I was watching the mini Lost special Sony aired here in Brazil. In one part Matt mentioned how he loved working on Lost with actors he so much admires. The expression on his face when he mentions his colleagues was of total admiration and you can see that Matt wishes to be as good as them one day... which made me I wonder if he realizes what a great actor he is. I would have to disagree with him on that one... he is so much better...
One thing is for sure, I respect Matt for the wonderful gifted actor he is since the first time I saw him in 1994. :hug2: I have ever since wished so much for him to be recognized among his peers, and knowing he also wishes to be respected as an actor, only makes my desire stronger.

That's true LostWord :) I guess I'm just so passionate when it comes to Matt :)
I just want him to be happy and to feel fulfilled and admired as an actor. I know how important it is to know your colleagues admire your work.
I think I will be SOOOOO nervous when the day comes for Matt to be sitting in the audience waiting to hear... "And the winner is..." I hope I don't have a heart attack ! :rotflol:
I am so passionate about the things I believe in and love that I don't know if I can take the anticipation of that moment. :D
BTW, has anyone ever found pictures of Matt when he won the Golden Satellite Awards for Best actor on Lost ? The ceremony happened in Beverly Hills in January 23 this year. I don't even know if Matt was able to attend. I would love to see some pictures just to see the expression on his face. :)
