I started a thread like this a long time ago and didn't get much response, so I thought I'd try again! If you've got a tattoo, (and its in an appropriate place ;) ) post a pic of it! Im very interested to see if anyone on here has any tats. Most people aren't old enough I guess but I'm still curious. Come on guys! Post your pics! Here's a pic of mine. Its J.R.R. Tolkien for those of you who aren't major geeks like me!

Hehe, I have an airbrush tatoo atm, I would take a pic but my camera's out of batteries... its a rose though, lol, it'll be gone by this time next week :( I don't have the guts to get a real tatoo.
I don't have any right now, but I want at least three tattoos in my lifetime. A celtic knot on my back, the elvish scripts (the one around the One Ring) around my ankle, and a fairy on my arm. ;)

I Love that tattoo, Ashley. :thud: If I get a tattoo, I would like it to be that size about, and on my back. :p. I'm too young. Maybe when I'm 18 or 19.

I read 'The Illustrated Man' as a kid. That convinced me never, ever to get a tattoo. They come to life...
Got my tattoo the day after Thanksgiving... I love it. Totally worth it, and I'll definitely get more.

Is that the one you had mentioned before when I asked, Gabs?
If so, it looks pretty good. Nice amount of detail, and I like the lineart as opposed to coloring.
Yep yep, that be the one. I'm pretty pleased with it... my idea, the tatoo guys art. Thinking I'll get another griffin on my left leg in time...

Its amazing to me how addicting it is! Thats an awesome tat by the way! I'm getting another on Sunday. Stars on top of my right foot. I'm so excited! I'm just afraid that I'm still gonna want more after I get this one!

I'[m just wondering... how much does it hurt to get a tatoo? I don't know if I'll ever get one... but it would be good to have some idea...
Mine hurt a little, especially at the top near the back of my knee, but for the most part, it wasn't that bad at all. Especially since I think the finished product is more than worth it.

Mine hurt a bit because it was right on my spine, but it wasn't unbearable. I'm a big wimp and have zero tolerance for pain and I still want another.

I have a butterfly on my ankle. I got inked on my 18th birthday. It was a present from brother. And yes, my parents knew about it. ;) In IL, you have to be 18 with parental consent. When I asked my parents, my mom was like, "Sure, whatever. It's your body." And I could in my dad's face that he didn't want me to have it, but I was the legal age and my mom had said yes, so there it was. :D I've had the tattoo for over a year now, and I still have no picturesof it. *slaps forehead* But I am going to go upstairs right now, grab the digi cam and take a pic of it right now.

Here it is. A green butterfly.
Butterflies: represent freedom.
Green: the color of determination.
I go got it because I was hoping that every time I look at it, I will get inspired to never give up.
It hurt like hell. Especially the top of the right wing, which was on the muscle, but I did not cry. However, I did leave claw marks in the chair. :p It was really itchy, but it healed smoothly. Even though I wasn't suppoed to, I kept pealing the flakes off.

I've got two, but I can't show them to you until I've got the webcam set up.
I have been waiting years to get more done, but due to lack of funds and major weight gain this has had to be put off, but, now the weight is coming off and I have a plan for the cash, hopefully i can start getting what I want done.
The total cost quoted for all the tattoo's I want done is about £1500-2000!

I want to get a tattoo. I'm going to get one of these days, and I know what I want. I'm going to get this tattoo in memory of my brother who died in 2000. The reason I pick a clover is because my family and I are part irish.

Ashley, I love your tattoo, always have. Lol. I'm gonna get one when I'm old enough. It's gonna be a vine wrapped around my ankle. 'Cause I love nature and plants, and it's like the vine is wrapping around me and pulling me down, like, it keeps pulling me back to nature. Yeah, I'm weird. Lol. I need to find a good picture, or draw my own...

I've always wanted a tattoo. I'd like to get the same ones that are in The Boondock Saints (Aequitas and Veritas) maybe on my inner wrist. Or maybe something tacky about Vegas. ;)
Adelheid
01-14-2006, 08:09 PM
Okay, here are some pics for my ideas:
The first one - The vine one I would get around my ankle. Not exactly what I'm getting, but it's a good idea.
The second one - I'm obsessed with the universe. You have no idea. I love stars and planets and I'm completely fascinated by how everything was created and where we go from here in the universe. So yeah, I think I could get it on my lower back. BTW, what's so great about that spot on the lower back? It's like everyone has a tattoo there. Lol.
The third one - I actually don't have a pic for it (don't know why), but it would be the 30 Seconds To Mars glyphics. Maybe on my other ankle, or down my arm, or around my arm. Who knows. Lol.
Darkbear
01-14-2006, 08:17 PM
These are some of the tat's I want done. The flower is to go down my spine with the butterflies (but not the flower), colours adjusted slightly, on each side, with the middle lower back tattoo from the flash peice at the base of my back. This i want altered so that it extends over my hips and follows my hip line down. The sun for my belly button, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to do that i have psoriasis on my stomach.
There are also some armbands and recolouring that I have in mind too.

Seriously, Heidi. DON'T get a tattoo for a band or your favorite celeb. Cuz you don't know if you'll still like them in 5 years. I really want PFTSOB tattooed on my inner wrist, but I know I might eventually regret it.
I'm thinking about getting a flower vine around my ankle, meeting at the wings of the butterfly. I'm still debating. And I might also get a crescent moon on my shoulder blade.
Adelheid
01-15-2006, 02:28 PM
Hmm... okay, but I love 30STM. Lol. More than I've loved any band or celebrity. So, I think I still might get one. And by the time I can actually get a tattoo, I'll know whether I still love them a lot. And I can get a small one. Like, each glyph on a finger - kinda like Charlie's 'fate' thing.
Save_Charlie
01-15-2006, 03:11 PM
The thing about getting the glyphs is that if people aren't familiar with the band, they won't know what it is. That makes it a little easier in case like ten years from now you regret it. At least it doesn't actually have a band name or celebrity name. You can pass it off as just a really awesome tat! Thats why I got the one I did. If your aren't a Tolkien fan you'd never know. It just looks like a tribal actually.
Adelheid
01-15-2006, 03:59 PM
Yeah Ashley, if you didn't know anything about Tolkien, you'd just think it's a cool symbol. And the glyphs are definitely cool. I have them all over everything I own, so why not on me? :p

If you get a tattoo that is related to a band, just make sure it is an image you can live with for the rest of your life no matter what. The skeleton stretched out to make a pentagram one I have is from a Slayer cover - My fav band

I'm too young for one by a coupla years, but I'm thinking about getting song lyrics around my ankle, just some that signify who I am and won't change, I don't really like tatoos since their so permanent, but I think a lyric wouldn't be a bad idea and the ankle isn't an obvious or gaudy place to put one.

I actually want to get them covered up, I'm not thrilled with 'em. I got them when I was 18 and psyched just to get tattooed. Not to mention they're not both facing inward, like I would prefer. The one on the left is staring to HER left, the one on the right is facing inward.
But I dont have that kind of money. Me and the BF are saving up to buy a house.

Wow, that ummm clown thing is ummm.... cool? But I'd be soooo scared to have that! I'd never want to look at it! I hate clowns, really freak me out but if its what you like Im sure it will look lovely!
I'd love to have a tattoo but I still gotta wait a while. Where I live you have to wait until your 16 with parents consent I think and my mom has one so she can't really say no if I ask! But I just want something small like maybe a butterfly or something and I don't want it to be always on display. Like maybe on my shoulder or above my naval or something so I can cover it but it'll look nice when I'm on holiday and wearing a bikini and stuff! I haven't really got any pictures of what I would like but I haven't really decided yet!
My mom's tattoo is cool though. She's a scorpio so she has a scorpion on her lower back. Its like blue, red and green and I like it but its a bit too big for what I'd like so maybe I'd have like a little Lion or something 'cause Im leo. But I want something thats like personal, like shows something about me. I dunno why, I just think it would be cool *shrugs* :)

I am the only person in my, or my partners family to have tattoos. And still am. My partners parents nearly passed out when he took me to meet them for the first time. You sounded like a very lovely girl, Emily. :) If he took you to meet his parents, that meant he was proud of you, in my opinion.
And just to clarify...HE was the one who would have been beaten to death with the loaf of bread for coming home with a tattoo. After he got his first one and showed his mother, we were already married and she DID slap me on the back of MY head and ask, "Is this what you let your husband do?" ahahahaha

Ive decided finally to get something over the scar I have on my right leg, I wanna get a Dharma logo to cover it up.
Now the big question here, does anyone have religious relatives ie: grandparents, aunt, mother, dog, cat, goldfish that is really religious? If so how do you get your tattoo and keep it from them? Other than hiding it forever. Out of my whole family Im the black sheep and I dont care about religion and yet I feel even though I dont care I have a leash that I cannot get out of.

My husband and his family are from Italy (very Catholic, very religious) and he waited until we got married to get his. His parents forbade it, but if he had come home with one it's not like they would have kicked him out or anything. It was just a matter of him respecting them. For my husband, respecting his family is first and foremost.
So, after we got married he got his ear pierced and his first tattoo. He showed his father, who replied," Ok, good. Are you a man now?" That was the end of that, until I got the "Is that what you let your husband do?" ahaha. Gotta love it.

See, my mom knows I have tattoos, and though she's not a fan, she doesn't really care. But my grandma (my mom's mother) isn't really religious so much as she is old fashioned, and she's the one who bought my car and who is paying for college, so if she were to find out I had 3 tattoos, I can guarantee she'd disown me and cut off my school funds. It's not too hard to hide them, though; the one on my lower back is easy to hide for obvious reasons, the one on my foot can be hid by closed shoes, and the one on my wrist I hide with bracelets (my mom doesn't even know I have that one). The only thing I'd really ever have to worry about is my brother tattling on me, or one of my friends blurting something out about them when she's around (though all of my friends get a lecture and set of rules of things not to talk about in front of her when I know she's gonna be around :p ).
She also doesn't know about my 20 piercings :giggle: But those are easy to hide by keeping my hair down, and also, she has bad eyes, so she can't see my ears that closely. It's probably a good thing I'm not into face piercings, or there'd be problems

About £75-80? For a portrait? Blimey! That's an awesome price. If that were me though I'd check out a huge amount of the tattooists previous work, talk to previous clients (not just his/her mates) and any articles about him/her that may have appeared. The tattooist should be more than happy for you to do this. For a good portrait, I would be looking to pay £150 at least, by a completely reputable tattooist.

No no girls. :) It's just that I don't really like or want them anymore so I don't want to post pics. of them. One is a little tweety bird ( I used to be a fanatic over tweety) on my left shoulder and the other is little flowers on a tiny vine around my right ankle.
For you (mostly girls) considering tattoos...I priced getting this itty bitty yellow tweety bird removed from my shoulder and the price was about 800.00 for laser treatments. I was told it would be kind of painful and STILL wouldn't be 100 per cent removed. Had I known at 18 that I would be going to so many weddings and parties wearing cocktail dresses and such in the future, I never would have gotten it on my shoulder. It ALWAYS shows.

Just one more thing to say regarding tattoos... you younger girls who are thinking about having any kind of professional career..there are many fields and employers who will not go for having you represent them or their company with a tattoo showing.
Lu, for instance, the tattoo you are considering on your wrist, that is hard to hide. I was a court stenographer for 4 years in NYC and I know for a fact, most agencies would not hire someone with a tattoo showing. Then there are the judges. I worked in a federal court, and if any judge would have seen me walk into their courtroom with a tattoo on my wrist or hand or anywhere showing they would tell me to cover it up or dont enter their courtroom again. Plain and simple. That's why I didn't get the ankle one while I was court reporting.
No disrespect to you girls. Just passing on some friendly advice. You never know where life will take you and you should consider that it may be inappropriate in your career. :)

Seriously? whoa, that's... scary. I don't think I'd have much probably in Restoration because it's sort of an artsy environment, and people don't really care. However, I'm still hoping for the criminology career, so I might have to rethink the place of my tattoo...

I just had say that I think it really depends on the size and placement of the tattoo on a wrist on how hard it is to hide. I have a heart about the size of a quarter on my left wrist; it's been over a year now since I got it, and my parents have yet to notice it. It's easily covered with a bracelet (or a watch especially, but I wear my watch on my right hand). But I understand what you're saying about employers not liking tattoos, Rachel. The only one of mine I'm concerned about is the butterfly on my foot, but that can easily be covered by certain shoes if it comes to it. I have to be careful about where I get them anyway, so I don't get disowned from my old-fashioned grandma if she finds out. I'm trying to think of a good place to put a fourth one, if I find one I like :p
Lu, if you end up getting it on your wrist in that exact size, I don't think it will be too extremely hard to hide :)
Thank you :) I love it, and it's in a place if i wanna show it i can but if i don't i just cover it up. I'm not sure where to get my next one tho coz it's got my kids names in it i want to be able to see it but i want to, again, be able to cover it up.
What about your leg? Easily covered if need be, or you can wear shorts if you feel like showing it off. I have mine there and it works out great.
I think my next one will be on my upper arm. I don't wear shorts often, actually only own one pair, so my griffin doesn't see the light of day all that often. I wear tanks/short sleeve shirts a lot more, so one up there would be easily shown. Down the line I'd like one on my forearm, but that won't be anytime soon.

*revives this thread!*
My (almost) sister-in-law is getting a new tat on thursday (lotus flower, very pretty), and wants me to come with. I'm thinking about getting something new done (not positive yet, still pondering).
I'd like to get something in memory of my dad, who died when I was 14. But I dont want a heart/banner kind of thing, I'd like something a little original.
I dont have a lot of money to spend, and I already have some "prime pieces of flesh real estate" covered: Both of my shoulder blades, my upper left wrist, and my right ankle (pinup style Jessica Rabbit, not like an anklet).
I dont have a lot of memories of my dad--it was over 10 years ago. But he was funny and a bit of a nerd--he got me my first computer (a 16 bit tandy! :D). He enjoyed astronomy (made his own telescope) and history--especially old millitary campaigns, and old planes. He had a wooden boat and a wooden canoe, along with old historical weapons.
I've got some basic ideas, like an anklet made of chain link going around my left ankle with a flat heart charm with his name in it. And I've been scouring the 'net, and am just not getting inspired at all! Does anyone have any ideas? I cant believe my creativity is so failing me now! :D

Easily covered, BTW (I work in public service, so...).

Well, I finally took some pics of my new tat. Thanks to all the help with deciding what to get (:raspberry ), I ended up NOT getting a memorial tattoo, mostly because I couldn't decide on exactly what I wanted.
Anyone who's read Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel novels might recognize it. :) The angels on either side are pre-existing. The marque itself (again, taken from the novels) is in red/black/green, but I knew that the combo wouldn't look good with what I already had. So Don (the guy that did it) worked with me. He was awesome!

And here's one where you can see both the angels:

I don't think big tattoos would look good on my, so I got a small star couple years ago, it's very simple. And I was planning on getting a new one, I know what I want (peace in Hebrew and Arabic), but don't know where to do yet...
Here's the I one got:

Thanks!! Hehe, I can say that now because the pain is a distant memory! Instead of laying on my stomach, I was hunched over the back of a chair, so that my legs were locked around the headpiece. I had a stress ball in each hand and I was making noises like a cat in heat. I should have recorded it! :D

Yeah..everyone says that it's because of how fleshy some areas are, instead of a place where it's basically skin stretched over bone. :D Luckily I happen to be, heh, fleshy in a bunch of areas. Unfortunately, one isn't my back. :giggle:
So what's sorta dorkily cool about this tat is it's based after a series of novels, like I said before. The writer has a website ( http://www.jacquelinecarey.com/), and people who get tats based on her books (like me) send in the pics. So now I'm gonna go write her a letter and send her my tat! :D

09-29-2006, 09:14 PM
Thanks. Yeah, I came up with it myself. The arrow is the sign for Sagittarius, and also the symbol from 30 Seconds To Mars that symbolizes the latin phrase Provehito In Altum, which means 'launch forth into the deep'. And the shape off of the stem of the arrow is my initials woven together - HNH. The N overlaps the H's. And the stars that the arrow are pointing to symbolize my love for science and the universe.
Wow, it sure symbolizes a lot, doesn't it? :giggle: I think I might get it on my right wrist. Do you have any suggestions for good places to get it besides my wrist?
edit:
It's beautiful! What does it mean?
It's the glyphics symbols from the band 30 Seconds To Mars. No one's exactly sure what it means, but it basically means '30 Seconds To Mars'.

Oooh, I love the symbolism! That's the one thing I regret about my tats, is that I didn't think them through more.
Are you planning on getting it, erm, stark black, or did you want shading as well? I like the inside of your wrist idea, especially if you want just the black. If you want more details--shading or whatever, then I dont know if the inside of your wrist will be enough room. Of course that depends on how big you want it (heh :giggle: ). Another great place is the back of your neck. I had a friend who got a celtic knot on the back of her neck. 'Course, then you'd never be able to see it. :D
I dont know, it's really how you feel about it. How big do you want it, how noticeable, that sort of thing. Then again, I'm hardly like, tattoo master or anything. :D
Adelheid
09-29-2006, 11:02 PM
Well, I was thinking the arrow part could be black, but have the stars be purple and green or something. And I don't want a really big tattoo, because...I'm just not a huge fan of big tattoos.
I also had this idea of a vine around my ankle, but getting a tattoo on my ankle would probably really hurt. Do you know if it hurts on the wrist?
Becky Thatcher
09-29-2006, 11:04 PM
I went with a few friends who got tatoos. Two got them on the wrist, and one got them on the ankle. They all got stars, and none of them said it hurt. It took like, five minutes. It took longer to set up than it did to do the actual tattoo
Adelheid
09-29-2006, 11:07 PM
Well, I've heard it depends on the person - if they're sensitive to pain. But I imagine the wrist would hurt a lot less than the ankle.

Do you know if it hurts on the wrist?
My wrist tattoo didn't hurt in the least, and neither did the one on the top of my foot (which surprises people when I tell them that, because it's right on bone). The only one that hurt was the one on my back, when he did the detailing along the spine (OUCH ).
I'm trying to find a cool design for a 4th tattoo, but I haven't found anything I like yet.
Adelheid
09-30-2006, 12:04 AM
Well, I guess the wrist would be the best option, then.
Yeah, I thought they if they could even do it on the bottom of feet, it would hurt a lot because of all the nerve endings. Or it would really tickle. :giggle:
Megs, since you're near me, where did you get your tattoos? Is it a reliable place, are the artists good and everything? Do you know of any other artists that are good around the NW? Just planning ahead. :p Even though it'll be like 4 years until I can get one (unless one of my parents cave and 'supervise' and let me get it when I turn 15).
Herobear

(unless one of my parents cave and 'supervise' and let me get it when I turn 15).
any respectable tattoo artist will point blank refuse to ink a minor who's under 18, even if they have an adult supervising. i would personally be wary of an artist who would. seriously ive decided that i wont get inked until im 25(im 21 now)unless something drastic happens, and only then if im deadset on knowing exactly what i want, and who im getting it from. im a perfectionist, but then i feel i have to be, for something thats going to be on my body until i die.
my first (transfer) tattoo i got when i was 7, it was a big lizard across my chest licking a certain body part(heh) ever since then ive been obsessed with them,
and wanted some ink done.
to continue on the hand/visible parts of your body getting inked conversation.
again, most respectable tattoo artists will try their best to change your mind on getting inked in such a visible area, especially if you're young and/or a first-timer. i might post up some cool artist's sites if im allowed later, along with what type of stuff im currently into getting inked on my skin.

Well, I personally got all mine done at a place called The Tattoo Machine here in Puyallup. That's the only place I'll go for anything unless it's a credited place in Seattle. They're very clean, professional, reasonably priced, etc. Two of my step-brothers will have gotten work done there, too, so that's why I looked into them to begin with.
But like I said, I know of 2 or 3 really well known places in Seattle; one I heard has a famous tattoo artist that comes around at times of the month and does tattoos, but I haven't actually looked into the place yet for myself.
Just a question, though; what's the law like in Oregon? Because here in the Evergreen State, even with parental consent it's illegal to do tattoos on anyone under 18 (and the whole year I was 17 I begged my parents to take me on vacation to a state that would allow it so I could get one, but they said no ). I got my first one 3 days after my 18th birthday :p But I know other states have different laws about that.
Adelheid
09-30-2006, 01:35 AM
Well, I have no idea about the laws in Oregon. LOL. I'm guessing you have to be 17 or 18.
And I heard somewhere you could get tattoos if you're 15 with the consent of a parent, but that might have been skewed info. If not, then only in Vegas. :p
And Puyallup's like...probably 3 or 4 hours away from me. I'm not sure. I'll check. But by the time I'm old enough to get a tattoo I'll probably be in Walla Walla or Portland (or maybe somewhere else in Washington/Oregon). So...I mean of course there's no tattoo parlors in this little hick town, but yeah.
Oh! I remember something. When I was in Hawaii with my dad, we were driving around Lahaina, Maui, and we saw this tattoo parlor and my dad was like "Maybe we could get tattoos..." and for a second I thought he was joking but he was actually serious. But of course we didn't do it. Ha.
edit: OMG! I didn't realize Puyallup was so close to Seattle! I had the impression it was more West. Okay. Well, that's pretty far away from here. But that doesn't really matter, 'cause like I said, by the time I'm old enough to get a tattoo I'll be closer, and can probably find a great place in Portland somewhere.

Haha, I remember when I was 16 and seeing a tattoo parlor in Vegas and begging my parents to stop! I got a no from them then, too
And if you're only 4 hours away, you really need to talk your parents into coming up sometime and visiting! :giggle:
I really wish I could get an idea for a new tattoo, but I'm drawing a blank. I think I'll get another piercing first, but that's gonna cost $85 and I need to get that money without my mom going "What'd you spend so much on?!" Maybe I'll get another small tattoo in the meantime; my wrist one only cost $25, so we'll see.
I wish I was as creative as you, Heidi, to design a nifty symbol like that. I designed the one on my back, but that's it (well, I drew out the heart for them, but there's not much design to that, and the butterfly on my foot I just fell in love with when I saw it on the wall and had to have it).

Haha well, we're going to Spokane next weekend. To do...nothing. LOL. I dunno.
Well, I don't think you should try to force anything. If you have an idea, you have an idea. You shouldn't get another tattoo until you have an idea or something that means a lot to you, you know? But that's just me. I wouldn't get a tattoo just for the sake of gettting a tattoo.
Maybe I'll get another small tattoo in the meantime; my wrist one only cost $25, so we'll see.

^That's really nice. Good choice.
Well, I love tattoos that have a meaning behind them, so if/when I get a tattoo, I want a treble clef. Music means so much to me, and I want to remember it.
I'm not sure of the placement yet, though. So far I've drawn it on in pen in a couple places, just to see how I like it.
I decided before I make any major commitments to tattoos, I'm going to carry a picture of what I want around for at least a year. If I still like it, then I'll go to the next stage. Henna.

Just remember kiddies - a tattoo is for life, not just for fashion. When the fashion goes, you'll still have your tattoo to the day you die. They'll bury you with it.
So be sure (and I mean 3000% sure) that what you think you would like inked into your skin is what you think you will like when you're 50.
But I'm worried I will change my mind and hate it once it's done so Im drawing it on my wrist each morning so I can see If I like it or not.

This is a great quote, with something macabre and ironic... It comes to my mind the incipit of that beautiful poem by W. B. Yeats:
WHEN you are old and gray and full of sleep
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;
Or a much more cruel poem by Charles Baudelaire...
Ask Helo for the traduction ;)
I like some tattoos on girls (BTW Rachel, especially on ankles like yours...), but the first thing (or second...) that comes to my mind is "When they are old?"... How will be to see and old lady with a tattoo?... I've no idea as I never saw one, or I don't remember... But...
On me it's something that doesn't fit:
1) I don't know what I could tattoo on me (an Apple logo, perhaps :D)
2) I use to leave opened the more doors I can...

I've been wanting a tattoo for a really long time, and I know what I want, I just don't know where I want it. I don't want it in a place where it is visible all the time. Also, I'm afraid that when I have one, I'll want more. I've had that same problem with piercings, but those you can take out, tattoo is a little more permanent.

Good for you. You should definetly take your time and make sure that the design and a tattoo in general is what you want. :)
I have the lyrics "Better thank your lucky stars" with three small stars (red, blue and yellow) on my inner left wrist. The lyrics are from the Green Day song 'Waiting' and the stars are the most important people in my life - my son, my husband and my grandmother. It just started off as one star for my gran when she passed and then i added the lyrics and finally the last 2 stars before christmas. The tattoo means a lot to me and everytime i look at it, it reminds me of how lucky i am. :)

Thanks! :D I want to get a single lily somewhere because its my favorite flower and it was the favorite flower of my mentor who died two years ago, but I don't know where yet. I'm thinking on my ankle.

Aww, sorry to hear that. That sounds like a great idea though. Tattoo's with some meaning and significance are always the best IMO. :)

I agree. Tattoos with meaning are much better. That way when people ask you why you have it, you actually have an answer for them!

The grinning fool is Daryl, owner of Cornucopia, and the chappie standing next to him is Cookie, who is just generally scary.
Aunty Daryl is going to be re-blacking my tats next Thursday (5th) and doing me a new one for my birthday. :w00t:

Oh, hey... I've got a hypothetical for you (well, anyone reading, really)... Say I wanted to get a tattoo in a few years after I've had a chance to get back in shape after the baby. Where would be the best area to place a tattoo, let's say about 3 inches in width by about 5 inches in height? Preferrably a place that isn't going to leave me with a wrinkly, distorted blob of a tat when I'm older.
Ever since I was a teen I thought I wanted an Alien queen tattoo. :giggle: I'm still entertaining the thought off and on to this day. The image I'd want to work from is this:

I was looking for some designs, not because I'm wanting a tat right now, but just because I like looking at the pictures.
I like these:

i've got two on my upper arms at the mo, which i'll blacked in, but I'm still deciding what else to get. Either a new band for my right arm, or start one of the bits for my back, but then if I've got my arms done in need something to sleep on....
Nice! :)

Realistically there isn't anywhere that won't go old and wrinkly. I mean how many old women do you see showing of tattoos?
Tattoo will last longer with better aftercare. You keep the area you've been tattooed well moisturised (but not wet), and SPF'd up in the sun, will protect it better for longer, but age is as age does, and the only way for it too look good in 10 years is to have them re-done.

I kind of figured that was the case. ;) ..and I can't really think of any older women who flaunt tattoos. :giggle:
Oh, I found some pics of Brian's last tattoo. :) He's got a little blacked out demonic thing wielding an axe on his forearm, a dragon on his left shoulder, a woman (sorceress?) on his right shoulder, and this dwarven warrior on his left calf. I figured since this is a post a pic thread.

Also, I was thinking the reason we don't see many old women showing tattoos, is because when they were young it wasn't really common-place for women, and even so many men, to be getting them. Surely, now, when the people that are currently in their teens and twenties, and thirties get old, we'll see more and more old, wrinkly tattoos. :giggle:
Then...in the end who really cares about what it looks like when you're in your 70's and 80's? Are you going to put off doing something that makes you happy right now and so many years yet to come, because of the way you might feel 50 years from now? Hopefully we even live that long. (yeah that was morbid, but you get my drift;) ) I say, get it in a spot where you really like it, NOW, regardless of how it looks when you're old.

Heeee, I'm finally getting my tattoo tomorrow! My dad's going with me, 'cause he's gonna make a few changes on his scorpio, and I'll need someone to hold my hand and distract me through the pain (and nobody makes me laugh more than my dad!)
Anyway, it's gonna be small, on the inside of my left wrist. everybody's saying it's an obvious place, and that i'll grow tired of it, but I need to have it in a place where I can see it. That's the whole purpose. and I don't wanna do it in my belly or back because I fear that if I ever get pregnant it stretches the picture, and I don't want it in my leg because it's a cross, and I won't let it near the floor (overly catholic, I know). :D
so, here it is. I'm still deciding the color, but I'll probably go with blue. What color do you guys think it should be? :D

I have my tattoo on my inner left wrist and everyone said the same thing to me. But its really special to me, as your cross is to you, so i don't think it matters that its in an obvious place. :)
I think it would look really good in blue.
