We are *never intentionally* speaking about non-consensual relations in here -- NEVER. Most of us in here are women, and I think it hit us all pretty hard when you said that. I can think of one slogan that may have raised your eyebrows ("love doesn't have to be mutual"), but that was NOT speaking about physical love.

PLEASE LET US KNOW IMMEDIATELY WHAT WE HAVE TO CHANGE. We're here for fun, not to be digusting or inappropriate, and we'd like to stick around.

Things like this are the main issue. Yes, as I said, I'm well aware it's all in fun, and I'm not trying to be an ass. Some are uncomfortable with this ship existing to begin with. I personally have no problem with it; weird ships are fun, and this is about as weird as it gets. I read through a few pages of the thread, and I can see the atmosphere in here; it's obviously not serious. I can also tell no one is trying to cross any kind of line. That's exactly why I dropped in to warn you guys. Things like that can't slip through. Just keep an eye on how things are being phrased; if it's even close to suggesting, take it out.

I just saw mention of banning... I don't know where this is coming from, as neither Shred nor myself said anything about banning anyone, nor is there any reason to.

Thanks for letting us know. I will go through the site today and take out anything that is even slightly inappropriate. I want you to know, and I know I speak for everyone here on this point: None of us, NONE of us, intended for this ship to be taken seriously or in any way offend anyone. We are a joke ship, and tried to make it as plain as possible in the first posting here.

I understand that some people are uncomfortable that we exist; personally, there are a lot of ships out there that make me uncomfortable, too. But it's not my right to say they don't deserve to exist.

The point is, we are here for fun. And, until we know for sure what happened to Claire while she was in Ethan's company, we think this little joke ship doesn't say anything inappropriate *purposely*. Of the two slogans above, I can understand why they seem disturbing; but the people who came up with them didn't say them about *physical* love, they were saying it about a mental or emotional issue that Ethan had towards Claire.

Anyway. I'll edit out any inappropriate content as soon as my kids lay down for a nap (which should be within an hour). The banning thing came from this: I've seen people on this board banned for less than saying something inappropriate, and since it was my call to post whatever slogans made it into our list, it should be my responsibility that they made it through. That's all. I'm certainly not encouraging you to ban me. :)

From what I just heard from Shred, apparently someone pointed out to the ENTIRE mod staff that we are promoting the idea that Ethan and Claire had sex. According to current thinking on the whole kidnapping, that would mean that Claire had no choice in the sex, and that would mean she was raped, and that we are promoting rape.

SO, anything that anyone has written in this thread that maybe even *hints* at the two of them having a sexual relationship -- if you want this thread to stay around so that we *can* have fun chats, go CHANGE YOUR POSTS NOW.

I will contact anyone who has not been in here lately and ask them to please check their posts for a possible need to edit. I know this is a hassle, but whoever this mystery person is who feels this way about what we've posted has a right to complain, if this is how it comes across.

We cannot give anyone a reason to shut us down; my personal feeling is that someone in here has done something personally to offend someone on this board and now it is coming back to affect all of us in here. It may not even be a direct A->B relationship, but might be much more convoluted than that. This is an easy thing to attack, EClaire, just because of how unconventional our pairing is. WE know it's a joke, but whatever we've said in here has left someone wondering about that. We can't leave any room for doubt on this, folks. We are a joke ship -- not a ship that promotes rape.

The fact that the mods KNOW we are a joke ship is not going to protect us in the case of someone taking offense at it. The mods have their responsibility to the forum to shut down anything taken inappropriately, and right now that's shaping up to be us.

SO, anyway -- please, everyone check your posts in here. We can't leave a single stone unturned.

Whew. I've gone through 575 slogans that we had posted in our listings, so that just leaves the individual posts for you guys. Honestly, I only found 6 borderline slogans, and one that referred to sex. I'm going through my posts now if anyone "needs" me. :p

Don't worry about it, heatdamaged. I think it was just... someone dropping in who'd never been here before... didn't research what we were... and took offense at the first possible thing. Some folks are just wired for offense.

Although, if you take some of the things we've said here out of context (well, for example, "Hang Gay Jack"), then it's easy to take offense. We're working on making ourselves less offensive right now. :p

Yeah, Irina, it's just one of those things. Unfortunately, there are people around who take some things too seriously and others not seriously enough. God, I NEVER thought anyone would take EClaire seriously as a 'ship. We were just a joke! And I certainly never thought anyone would think we were promoting non-consensual relations... *sigh* If anyone had stopped in here and SAID something, I could have talked to them about it and would have HAPPILY changed anything for them. Well, I didn't want to leave anything to chance. I started out just going through my posts, but then I got caught up reading the back-and-forth between us all (and laughing as I was), so I decided to read through everything closely. There were a couple of points that, if taken out of context, might look *slightly* wrong, but honestly, within the confines of L-F and EClaire, nothing else that was said looked like "OMG they support RAPE!!!". I feel like we've done a good job policing ourselves here; I guess we should have been more careful in those first few posts to make it CLEAR what we were really supporting.

That said, I still would prefer you guys look at your stuff (if you haven't already!) because you know more than I do what you meant. And most of our posts are the "party" posts, so they're obviously goofy things. Honestly, we went through a couple of weeks with just a minimum of posts, and then after our 500th slogan party (only about 100 slogans ago), we doubled and almost tripled our posts. Everything lately has dealt with personal stuff or hangings or parties, so it's all clear from like page 70 on.
