Anyway, ehsteve, Irina: Yes, Sayid would have immediately dismissed Jack's idea about an army. How many people would actually follow Jack's lead in a war? JACK? Seriously. A) Sayid has just lost the woman he loves. He's not going to go off to train a bunch of rag-tag survivors how to fight -- even he would recognize the unlikelihood that they can EVER agree on anything to fight FOR. B) AnaL has leadership experience on the island, and direct experience with the Others, whereas Sayid has not come into contact with anyone but Danielle and Ana's group. C) Jack is not thinking clearly, and Sayid would be the first to tell him that he is lashing out instead of maintaining the group cohesiveness.

Jack has made the snap judgment that Ana is more trustworthy and dependable than Sayid -- big mistake. Ana is more impulsive -- like Jack -- and would most readily agree to any leadership-role takeover Jack might want to enforce in order to "draft" people for his army. Sayid would (gasp!) rely on logic and try to convince Jack (who we all know to be wishy-washy anyway) to just stay on his own damn side of the island. I think that Jack is hoping that by getting Ana to agree, then it'll be two on one when he tries to talk to Sayid about it... Or Locke...

Anyway. I just gave a lot out, hope no one reads it if they haven't seen the eppy.

Right, ehsteve -- but if Jack has a COP on his side, it'll be a lot easier for him to approach Sayid about training... whereas if he just went off by himself, Sayid would talk to him man-to-man and try to dissuade him. Given no options, Sayid will be *forced* to train them in order to keep anyone else from botching the job.

Also, Sayid is likely to take a more reasoned approach to the idea and would probably go against the idea of training up a bunch of people with virtually no combat training between them. They would surely be chasing an inevitable death by trying to take on the people who know the island inside out, in jungle combat they would get massacared. Sayid has been trying to avoid violence and bloodshed where possible, I'm sure he'd want no part in it.

Ana is alot more impulsive as Ali said, she's more likely to go along with Jack and help where possible.

OFOCN is good, it really is, but it's surreal and less action-oriented. It's more psychological/political. Serenity is action packed w/ a little psychology/politics. I loved it, though.
