All due respect, Scarlett -- The guy stole her baby TWICE and was babbling incoherently about why. He had drugs around her and her baby (and she had no proof that he *wasn't* taking them...), which to me is the biggest red flag. I understand where you're coming from, because I find myself growing sympathetic to Charlie; but I'm still a mom first. My mommy instincts SCREAMED "don't trust the guy" in Exodus when he picked up the statue. There were drugs outside of statues lying on the ground that he COULD have taken and been snorting for a long time before he'd ever have to break a statue to get any.

I've known people who've done heroin; they never fully are free from it. I know a guy who's been "clean" for six years, and he still feels like he could go back any day. It's a damning addiction; it just never lets go. Charlie carrying that statue around as a security blanket for weeks was a time-bomb. Either Claire was going to find out what was in it by way of Sayid or Locke (or Eko) saying something, or Charlie was going to get so stressed that he was going to use.

My feelings are that Claire did the right thing kicking him out and limiting his access to Aaron. Maybe she should have given him the benefit of the doubt when he said he wasn't using; if I were in her position and I found out the man who helped take care of my child was a drug addict who was hording drugs, I'd give him the boot too. He feels that Aaron is in danger but he can't say why; and then he shows up near the ocean holding the baby and he can't explain why? Hell, if I were Claire, I'd've done MORE than slap him. I would have beaten the ever-living-crap out of him. That's me, the mom, talking. Me, the person who's worked with addicts, says that she should have talked to him the next day and found out what the hell was going on. And checked his pupils and his nose. Heroin snorting weakens the blood vessels in the nose, and it would have been obvious if he'd been using; it dilates the eyes, which would have been a dead giveaway on a sunny beach.

I'm not discounting your feelings, and I'm sorry if it seems that way. You just won't find much sympathy from a mom about a mother keeping a drug addict who is behaving erratically away from her baby. I feel for Charlie, because from all indications, he isn't using. But he's having hallucinations and is taking the baby without good explanations (despite his good intentions) to the baby's mother; that screams to her to keep him away.

All due respect, but this girl has been through HELL. She's just been through a plane crash -- yes, like everyone else -- but she's pregnant. She somehow manages to keep her spirits up, despite being a "time-bomb of responsibility". She is stalked, kidnapped, witnesses the death of her only "friend" on the island, is returned with no memory of what's going on around her, finds out that her only "friend" is a drug addict, goes through labor without the benefit of modern facilities or pain medicines, has her baby delivered by someone with no medical experience... Is forced to raise her child alone on an ISLAND where there are no diapers, formula, or modern conveniences... Has little or no support system... The list goes on and on. I'm sorry, but I cannot feel too sorry for the heroin junkie with the desire to have someone depend on him in order to give his life meaning.

Now, if you want to talk about how LOCKE needs to be where Ethan is, I might talk about that. I think Locke deliberately set about to create this situation; I'm even wondering if he was secretly slipping Charlie the drugs. Hell, Locke knew where those drugs were LONG before Sayid and Charlie ran across them; it would have been easy for him to carry some around in those pockets of his for a long time without it being noticed. Did you see his reaction to finding out the plane was destroyed? And he's hording what's left... why? Is he going to use it as leverage on Charlie? Is he using it himself? Why is he suddenly behaving darkly?

Well, the posts are gone now; looks like as soon as one would pop up, Gabs would go in and delete it. He appeared to have a spamming program that just generated names/messages and they would pop up a few seconds after the previous ones were deleted. Always in L-F rules, QCCC and Affiliate links.
