Ice, that is a very very good question. My theory? I think he has plans for them -- either to hook Charlie back on them and force him to do what he wants (boy, I hope not, I've always LIKED Locke) or maybe for trade to the others at some point... I also read a theory that Locke has slowly been putting it into Charlie's system in order to create this very situation, where he'd be more trusted than Charlie is... I don't like the turn last night's epi took, putting Locke in a very dark role like that. A Lot of people want to look at it as "oh, he was being protective of Claire" but I see it more as possessiveness towards Aaron... I've always seen Locke as somewhat self-serving, but NEVER seen him as sinister as he was last night. Man, that was upsetting.

Interesting stuff Ali, it was an unusual Locke we saw in this episdoe, I was quite taken aback by it.

I honestly never pictured him using his fists in anger at any point, I thought he was too controlled for that. He had a crazed look about him this time around, like you said - very dark version of Locke. I agree to an extent that I feel he may use the stuff to use against Charlie, but can't quite see how for now. In a way its good stuff from the writers as things have taken quite a turn from this episode.

Ice: Yes, him hitting Charlie was a real shock. You could see by his body language that he wanted to strike out, but I never thought he'd be as violent as he was. I thought, maybe one punch... but the way he hit him... damn. I mean, you could maybe think that he was totally disappointed in Charlie for sliding back into drug use, but he never even gave Charlie a chance to prove that he *wasn't* using. Irina and I were discussing the juxtaposition of Eko, who *knew* Charlie had the drugs but didn't assume he was using and Locke, who didn't know (we assume) that he had the drugs, but automatically assumed he was using again. We feel like they're playing Eko against Locke now that they're in the same camp. Locke will become the "dark" side and Eko will represent the "light" side. His change was just SO dramatic... I wonder if they're setting this up in some way to redeem Charlie and put Locke out of the camp... dunno. all speculation!

I can see where you're coming from Ali eventhough I feel it's a tad predictable to do what they might be doing with Eko and Locke, still sets it up nicely for the forthcoming episodes. I suppose you're right about American shows being set up to peak momentarily around the month of Feb.

Well, the thing about American TV is: We peak in Sept/Oct for those beginning sweeps; then Feb for mid-season sweeps; then again in May for season-ending sweeps. So hopefully we'll at least get three or four really good epis this season.

And I agree about the predictability... but unfortunately I've also read where they want to keep this series (that was intended to only be three seasons long) around for up to 7 seasons... meaning that they'll drag out the storyline for as long as they can to make as much money as possible. That doesn't necessarily mean that there's going to be 7 years of good stuff, just that 3 years worth is going to be dragged out that long. :(
