This is the Thread Formerly known as "My Petition to make the show better" The following is some minor ideas to slightly improve the viewing of the show. I, in no way think that the show is lacking talented writing and captivating plot-lines. The characters are awesome

I think that instead of them showing flashbacks of only one character per episode should have ended with the end of last season. I mean, we all could have figured out that Jin a was pauper of sorts and Sun was from a rish family. I think flashbacks should only be put in places where they are needed. They could keep the same amount of flashback per episode, but move them around a little bit... Like scene with Sawyer struggling, show a sawyer scene, etc.... This year's flashbacks have dealt with more personal issues of the characters, like everyday life. Not as much about why or how they got on the plane. I thought they were going to examine the reason why Sun didn't leave on the plane by herself. Instead we just learned about how the two met. Even though I thought her search filled too much time on the show, I thought it was kind of funny how it turned into an Oprah-like episode, where Locke, Jack and Kate all tried to help her cope with her problem...

the show is perfect IMHO.

only thing to make it better is a mud wrestling episode between Shannon and Ana Lucia and Kate...

fighting over shampoo. ...thus we can watch the winner shampoo .

I think the show is very good how it is. It doesn't need to be improved.

I read another post by someone who brought up a very good point about the flashbacks.

Last season's flashbacks showed us why people were getting on the plane...and for the most part, it was showing us that they had not a whole lot of positive things in their life (Jack picking up his dad's body, Claire giving up the baby, Kate going with the marshall, Locke being sent home from his trip...etc, etc.). So last year's flashbacks made these characters out to be people who maybe didn't have a whole lot to live for.

This season, however, the flashbacks have focussed somewhat on love interests of the characters...(Jack and Sarah, Locke and Hellen, Sun and Jin)...which is showing that these characters do in fact have things in their lives that they care (or cared) about.

The flashbacks now are just helping to develop the characters even more than they already were....

This show is #1 in ratings right? I think it might be a bit pre-mature for this discussion ;-)

That's what they want you to think.

Kill Whitey!!!!!!

Oh my bad, wrong forum.

Anyways, I agree it's way to premature for talk about changing the show (like they would listen to a bunch of people in cyber space anyways.). The show is great, the flash backs are needed for character development.

See most shows use a plot to drive the show, where as LOST is a character Driven show. So these flash backs are very important for the success of the show no matter how you feel about it.

I love the show, my wife and I are like total crack addicts on wed. morning waiting for our fix.

The only think that could make Lost better would be for Shannon to die.

The flashbacks are designed to give us an insight into what a particular character is thinking in the present (i.e. on the island). What is going through the minds of the people when they make decisions is central to the story.

If, for example, we had never seen any of Locke's flashbacks, we would all just think he was a straight nutter. We'd have no understanding of why he's acting the way he is...

I'd like to see Ana Lucia take a belly full of Lead, but otherwise the show is pretty much perfect as it is. A couple of "slow" episodes is just going to make us appreciate the next all-action episode more.

I think this show is both plot and character driven. They balance each other out.

We're only on the fifth episode and I think this season so far rocks! I don't know what people are complaining about. We get one episode that people are disappointed in and everyone is already saying "Lost has jumped the shark," "season two has gone downhill," let's sign a petition to make the show better." Are you kidding me? Oh no! We got two character episodes in a row with no cliffhangers and the world is gonna end. Come on, where's the faith people?

what i really want to see, (and were probably gonna see it in episdoe 7) is what happened to make anna lucia such a hard ass. i mean, when she had that talk with jack before the crash she was cool. Thats always been my first impression of her and id like to see how she got soo wacko.

The producers and ABC care about the ratings. They don't much care about the opinions of individual viewers. Do you think your argument would count more if you posted with the masses in the "Sucked" sticky thread?

Hey everyone, don't jump down my throat when I have some sort of comment on the show.... I DID NOT say that the flashbacks weren't needed. I am for just as many flashbacks or more than there already is, I just think that sometimes only flashbacks on one particular character per episode might not be the right alley. Some episodes need that though. I'm a huge fan of the flashbacks and CANNOT wait to find out more about the characters as we go on. I didn't think that the writers would read my comment and improve anything nor did I say I thought that this season was not good in any way. I get so upset at the people that say after an episode that it was the best or worst and the polls that they have. We should all take the show as it is and enjoy it, for it is probably one of the best and best written Television shows ever. I'm glad that all of you think that this season has been good as well. I guess I titled my thread completely wrong, I'm sorry
