I think this has something to do with the images. Notice how the images were all slightly pixelated? Not pixelated...they seemed to have noise on them...quite blocky etc. I think that may be catoms? need to print 'em out and get the ye olde microscope on em :p

The writers/producers of the show have already stated many times that this isn't so -- although it does seem to be what BSS1 points to -- or at least wants us to think it does.

Maybe the *people* on the island are the ones who are supposed to form a nano-bot like community (No, I'm not talking Voltron where everyone stands on each other's shoulders to make a super-person, he he) -- but basically the people are the ones coming together for a purpose, the way nanos are supposed to. Just a thought. It would certainly be a clever misdirection on the part of the spoilers to say "nanobots!" and then find out we're talking about a macro scale.

And no, I'm not talking what happens to our sanity...:D What about this thread? :D Cause I don't know about everyone else, but this thread for me was the definitive one that opened up the whole "webmaze" to me....I dunno, I feel like this is our baby. :D I mean, yeah, the whole pictures/morse/music thing might continue...but it just doesn't seem as engrossing as it did before the chat. :D

I'm taking a nap after work and then will try to get on... thinking about what you said, Coco, and given that even Shred is now saying "makes you wonder about bss1" in the Canon/Non-Canon thread, I have to say that I'm more convinced than ever that at least SOME of the things we heard on the chat will show up in future episodes. Some of the recent articles I've seen (the LA Times one Shred mentioned, and one in TV Guide a co-worker sent to me this a.m.) have me really intrigued to see what is truth and what is fiction.

Which makes me wonder, also, about all the stuff that showed up pre-chat... would revisiting it in the future tell us a completely different story after having been in the chat? Good question, and perhaps.

It's all part of the mystery, I guess.... I just wonder if the "official" chat would have been more or less informative as we get closer to the new episode... we may never know.

(P.S. I need a sig! And an avatar... sheesh)

One of these days I'm not going to warn you guys and just throw the picture up here. :D Yes, I'd prolly get a warning ban, but in a sick yet funny way, it'd be worth it. :D And then you can use THAT for an avatar :D

And you know, I regret that we didn't keep better logs of the different things that happened in the chat. I mean, we DO have that Karen chat...and I believe there are some walt logs around here somewhere....but for the most part, it's memory we're going to have to rely on.

And I cant WAIT for the new episodes to start...well, yeah, OBVIOUSLY. :D Who here doesn't? :D But I cannot wait to see if some of this stuff had/has any truth to it....We can only hope that if/when the chat goes back up we will have a greater knowledge of WHO was speaking truth and who wasn't. That and....JADE FOR MOD! :D

dont wanna offend you girls, but I didnt like the chat at all... That's probably because I dont like internet chats in general but I also thought it wasnt pretty useful in providing stuff you could investigate... First of all you couldnt really know if the source of the infos was a valid one ( i.e. how you know GHOST does know anything real) and second its a very unstatic medium, because you would have to be in the chat the whole time to gather all infos, or the infos would have to be repeated all the time, whichs both sucks... yeah and third all the trolls and idiots got on my nerves who talked only bullcaesar salad.
I would more like it if bss1 got back to normal with the strange pics with hidden stuff in it and the odd mp3's and links, was more fun!
just my opinion... =)
oh and hey you got your own personal chat now and you dont even have to think about if Coconut is now the real Coconut or not or whatever ;)

But you have to really LIKE internet chats to begin with to get past the fact of the trolls and the bullshit. And while it was/is/will be a useful medium to get knowledge out--you're right. For the most part, you gotta be there a lot of times to get the info. We (and I mean all the BSS1 regulars) didn't really log as well as we could've/should've.

As for GHOST, no, he hasn't given us anything to 100% prove that everything he says is true. But what he has given me is enough to make my trusting, gullible heart believe. Besides, he seems like a genuinely nice guy :) And if it comes down to the fact that NO, he isn't real, oh well. I would rather pay attention to someone and have it turn out that the spoilers they're spouting are false rather than ignore someone and have it turn out that what THEY'RE spouting are true, you know?

In all seriousness I really enjoyed the chat. What pulled me in was the mystery and the surreal aspects. It was a really creative idea, and I've never seen anything like that. Part of the fun was that you never knew what was going to happen when you entered. Had it been an "official" Lost chat, I don't think it would be half as fun.

I liked how everyone got together on the forums to try and figure out who some of these people were and what the information they gave out meant. Yeah, there was the risk that not everybody was who they claimed to be, but it was much more fun to suspend disbelief and just throw yourself into the fun of it. The whole aspect of wondering, "Is this for real?" is a lot of the fun for me.

Not to mention the plethora of opportunities for all kinds of sillyness. :rotflol:
I am extremely grateful that Scullygirl set up her chat, and even more grateful that GHOST visits there sometimes. But I really miss our BSS1 chat. I miss have my head messed with by TPTB :D

Some of the things that ppl did to screw with the chat may have caused problems, but other than that I think it was great. And as eclectik said, half of it was the fun not knowing what was going to happen. Yes though we do need to get better logs. Actually i need to post what ghost said that one night I just havent because every time i go on the computer I end up on the chat lol. And as for who to trust, well you dont really know, which is the point. If it was completely official it would just be spoilers, and 1/2 the ppl wouldnt want to know anyway - i know a lot of ppl (me usually not being one of them) that hate spoilers. But this isn't spoilers, it is a mystery and a puzzle. you sort through the good and the bad and decide what to believe. We have been told after all that some of what we think is real isnt and some of what we think is fake isnt. Thats the fun - following trails (not that kind!) and choosing what to believe. And I choose to believe Ghost, but who or what you believe really doesn't matter. Its the fun of the game. And I do love to chat sometimes I think a little too much :p jk but I still think that they should also put up the cryptic images and stuff as well (although I would like hints whether or not we are going in the right direction but thats my opinion). Anyway, we will all get a better idea of some of these things after next wednesday:)

Yeah Lisa, it was a new one, not the one I read is gonna come up with Lady Heather (which I swear I read in that TV Guide magazine), but a really good one with people who have a werewolf-type genetic disease. Good knews is, this week they had the last new CSI on the hour before the new one (Survivor slot) so there's a chance this one might be on next week.

yes the text "bigspaceship1.com" was the only thing at https://thehansofoundation.org/ it was removed by oct 17th though. the text being there certainly is SOMETHING but it doesn't prove a link between big spaceship and bigspaceship1.com it just implies it.

The time I posted it was back on 1/8/06 is pretty accurate. I went to bss and it was a blank screen that said hello in the upper left. I left and immediately decided to go back and play around to see what I could find. It was literally less than a minute later but it was the shoe add and chat was back. I checked to see if the chat was working and it was. Came back here to find out the morse and other goodies in the pic and posted the chat was back. I actually thought I had messed something up the first time but it just happens I logged on twice within the time frame of the change. So the time of the post is within a couple minutes of the change.

Well I remember back in the old Bss1 days (before the wonderful chat ;) ) We had puzzles that were Lost related but not on lost related websites... Smartdust is a term used to describe groups of very small robots which may be used for monitoring and detection. Currently, the scale of smartdust is rather small, with single sensors the size of a deck of playing cards, but the hope is to eventually have robots as small as a speck of dust. Individual sensors of smartdust are often referred to as motes because of their small size. These devices are also known as MEMS, which stands for microelectromechanical sensors.

Smartdust has theoretical applications in virtually every field of science and industry. Research in the technologies is well-funded and sturdily based, and it is generally accepted that it is simply a matter of time before smartdust exists in a functional manner. So far the research has been promising, with prototype smartdust sensors as small as 5mm. Applications of these sensors are seemingly without end. Every aspect of life one examines opens up new avenues for smartdust. The whole catoms/smartdust thing seem to me to lead you to believe that the black smoke was actually nanobots. But that whole theory seem to be shot down this week when we got a good look at it. I still don't know what it is but nanobots don't flash pictures of your sins from what I've heard. So was the whole smartdust thing someones guess over at BSS1 that they thought wouldn't get discredited this quick(which would bring in to question the legitamacy of BSS1) or is the smartdust involved some other way I haven't thought of. Am I the only one thinking this? Tell me what all you BSS1 fans think.

Congrats Shred! Sorry to everyone I've been gone. Long story short I fell and hurt my knees (I think i might have water on the one) anyway, I've been sitting with my feet up and the laptop was hitting my knees too much. They arent as bad now though so I can at least be on some today. But if you miss me I will definitely be on bork after Lost tomorrow (let's party again everyone come:)

Meanwhile, what have I been doing? Pulled out the Lost DVDs I got for Christmas and started over I'm about half way through the season:)

I hear there has been some trolls I'll have to look out.

all well and good, but bearing in mind that the writer dont know whats going to happen until 3-4 weeks before the shows are even WRITTEN, i dont see how there is any connection between the two, also bearing in mind one is a rifle and the other's a colt

if the people making bss1 were in on the writing of the show, i dont think they would know what was going to happen that far into the story

Just wanted to say as I was reading some of the stuff - really sorry about all the trolls (or well the one troll who came as many ppl) I am working on finding an ip ban (rather than username)

Please dont let that stop you from coming. Now lastnight someone came on and said that someone else had been on their computer. Guessing thats not true but they behaved themselves. So we'll see. If anyone has any problems, let me know.

And there are more mods now so that should help. They tend to dissapear when the mods are around.
