If everyone remembers, Hurley actually said the same riddle that Desmond asked Locke, but earlier in the first season.

Maybe Desmond is waiting for Hurley? or maybe Hurley is going to trick Desmond into thinking he's "the one" that he was waiting for.

In my opinion, Hurleys task is typing the numbers in the computer and pressing execute or else something bad would happen. from adrift, it looks like the computer thing would beep when it gets close to zero but we have no idea what happens when it gets to zero yet. it has to be something bad or else desmond wouldnt make locke type in the numbers hastily. ANyway i think hurley would be in the hatch and have to type the numbers but he gets too scared too because its the numbers so yah something happens and then everyone will h8 him for it, hints the name of the episode

I agree with weepingband-- the spoiler said that Hurley would have trouble with the task, and he would certainly not have an easy time typing those numbers over and over.

Heres what im guessing...

We know that Desmond leaves the hatch and hurley and locke are in there (all form promo). I dont think itll be exactly a "task" IMO... It looks like theres something smashed or broken on the floor when we see locke kneeling on the ground. So what i was thinking, whilst Desmond is gone hurley sees all the numbers everywhere, goes nuts and starts breaking things :p

i think 'everybody hates hugo' is just a play on 'everybody loves raymond' because hes cursed, i think the title goes along with the backstory in the episode, all the bad stuff happening to the people around him in the flashbacks

I'm dying to find this out as well, and so far there's a bleen threads with "snowman" and "Hurley" in them, so it makes finding if anyone's actually found the line nearly impossible.

Someone PM me if you find it, I'm tired of looking. I'll end up having to buy the DVD and rewatching it for that line.

You guys really should check out this thread! It connects to Dharma, Ya know, that strange symbol we see everywhere, which has to deal with everyone trying to fulfill their destiny (task). I strongly believe that this Dharma thing is the key!

But it looked like in "Orientation", someone ended up shooting the computer and Desmond freaks out.

I don't think that Hurley said this line anywhere in the LOST 1st Season, I searched all the episode transcripts last night looking for this line. Came up with nothing whatsoever even mentioned dealing with a Snowman. And I've watched the Season so many times I think I'd remember if I'd heard that before and I hadn't heard it before, not from hurley!
If anyone actually DOES find this then let me know that I'm wrong but I'm telling you I haven't heard it said by anyone except Desmond!

Same here. I don't know where people are getting the idea that it's been said before (Snowman) because it hasn't. People even said it was the joke the nurse gave to Michael in the hospital.. No. And Hurley has never said that line, nor anyone else in Season 1.

I think the clues are in the trailer, how many references to the Food are there? What was Hugo's one big scene this week about (food in the closet). Perhaps everyone hates hugo because he does something that jeapordizes or destroys the food.

He's not going to be given the task of entering the numbers because Jack and Co. know hes terrified of the numbers. Locke knows this as well, and since his character seems to have given up on changing people via the island (see Boone, Charlie) I don't think he would be trusted by Locke/Jack to enter the numbers (especialy since Locke seems convinced that they are dangerous).

I think the snowman(snowmen) represents the people protecting each post(hatch).

From the Ep 4 promo photos, we can see that Locke and Sayid and Kate have left the bunker. That leaves Hurley as the logical one to have been left on the next "shift". I believe Hurley can't bring himself to enter the numbers and leaves the bunker. The bunker blows up and destroys all the food. Thus "Everyone Hates Hugo".

IMO the bunker has to be blown up at some point. It's too much of a "crutch", where the survivors would be able to live in relative comfort.

If you are correct about the joke, Hurly might have heard it in the mental institution. There is speculation by othe rreaders who suggest his frind in the institution was a rpleacement or a worker for DHARMA

I believe Hurly said the joke to Claire on the beach. I'm not 100% sure but I do remember him saying it...

Which episode would that have occurred? I'll start searching transcripts.

Yeah...I think he will be left in charge of the food because he will nominate himself and the guys would be too worried about saying no and not trusting him and hurley getting all offended and stuff. Then he goes in an makes a freaking pig of himself and eats alot of it. Then everyone hates him.....

I honestly think that Hurleys task is to enter the numbers on a shift - he is distracted by the thought of the food....as anyone would be but if he has suffered from an eating disorder this could be a problem.

But as I write this I am reminded of a passage from Lord of the Flies.

Do u think people will react more negatively to Hurley stealing food because he is overweight than say they would if it was Jack or Kate.

No one hates Hugo but because he gives in to temptation he Hates himself and think everyone hates him.

We are going to find out why Hurley was in the institution ....maybe he had problems with food an eating disorder leading to paranoia...low self esteem.

remember how Hurley told Jack what his nickname was and he said dont ask me how I got it!
