View Full Version : I love Sawyer now

I have to admit, in the beginning of last season I completely hated Sawyer. Then about halfway through the season I could stand him, and towards the end I liked him a little. But after tonight I love him so much. I hadn't realized that if he wanted he could be just as big a hero as Jack. I finally realize that Sawyer is actually a nice guy, and I absolutely love him now! :D

Did tonight change anyone else's view of Sawyer?

Totally...he is awsome...he opened his heart even after all he had been through! *hugs Sawyer*

I've always loved him, from day one but this episode (if possible) made me love the man even more. That line after he digs out that bullet, that made me laugh so hard!!! Do you have a band-aid, LMAO!!!

I totally agree. I hated him at first two, but he's growing on me. Tonight he was extremely brave, pulling out that bullet w/ his bare hands. He also showed compassion for Michael and showed great strength swimming w/ a gunshot wound! He also seemed genuinely happy to see Jin, when he had no selfish reasons for being so happy.
I'm just worried what will happen to him when the Others take them, like it showed in the preview. Let's just hope he doesn't fall into the clutches of Ana Lucia. Blah!

Yay! We've converted some!! *muahahaha!!* Well, I didn't specifically convert you...the writer's did...but you know what I mean.

I totally understand. Though I've always been a hard-core sawyer fan, this episode made me love him EVER MORE!!! Yay!!!

I'm glad they showed a little more of a sensitive side to him this episode too--and you guys are right--he really was the hero there

I mean, what can you say, when you think about it, and you think of everything in the past Sawyer episodes, you have to give him some credit...I totally agree that we have converted. I am a big Josh fan and to see him is why I started watching the show...now I am addicted! If you just look at him and all he has been through...you fall in love! *wishes to kiss Sawyer*

I have to completely agree with you, Sing _Without_ a_ Reason. In the pilot I thought Sawyer was a complete jerk. Then by the end of season one, I really felt for him. He has tough, mean exterior, but inside he has a good heart. I was so happy when he finally told Jack about his dad and after this episode I like him even more. I think this shows what great writers there are on Lost. For this character to be the bad guy, the one person on the island that most of the others hate, and then to turn it all around and make us feel for this character and realize that he does have a heart is a remarkable thing.

It didnt change my view. He worked with what life gave him. Both of his parents died when he was young, you'd be messed up too. He was what most poeple would be on the island. He decided right away that he needed to keep himself healthy/alive and took what he needed. I cant say everyone would do it but the smart ones would. And from day one everyone hated him. But if yoru on an island hopeing to get rescued who cares? You didnt get there to make friends :-/

What took you people so long? Sawyer is a good guy, he just has a big ego and likes to stir up the crap on that island. I can't believe he took that bullet out! What a maniac - he's really a lot tougher than I thought.

"My fault? At least your son's on a boat! He's probably wrapped up in a blanket holding a warm cup of cocoa!" (or something close to that) and "What are you going to do? Splash me?" The guy has a never-ending list of smart-ass comments and I love it.

Yes my anti-hero has emerged :cloud9:

He saved Michael's life.

He was concerned about Jin and Walt.

He jumped into the water, knowing there was a shark, to get them the pontoon.

Today was a good Sawyer day :D

Sawyer has changed completly in terms of my respect for him. That was pretty damn high by the end of season one anyway, but what he did at the start of this episode moved him up that bit higher.
I was actually pissed off at Michael for being so mean to him...heh.

We always knew you had it in you Sawyer! :D He reminds me of a hard boiled detective with the sarcasm and charm with more than his fare share of vices but he still gets the job done and saves the day.

Well, hopefully this isn't a thread simply for chicks to gush over Sawyer!!

JK

Sawyer was absolutely one of the things that stuck in my mind about last night's ep. That is interesting because I had read that it was initially going to be a Sawyer-centered episode, and then was changed to Michael, but apparently much of the storyling must have been retained because Sawyer's character development was central to this ep. During a commercial break I turned to our family and friends (gathered for our weekly LOST party) and said "Well, I ain't no hero." They were like "huh?" and then I reminded them that in season 1 Sawyer made that remark.

There were times during this ep that I had to muster up compassion for Michael. I found myself rooting for Sawyer and thinking to myself "push the a-hole in the water, Sawyer!" Then I would give Michael some space because, hey, he lost his kid, man! Still, Sawyer was twice the man Michael was in this ep (actually, my opinion of Michaels isn't that high anyhow).

Welcome to the club! I love Sawyer and I thought he was amazing in this episode. And with they way Jack has been acting in the last 2 episodes, I think of Sawyer as being more of the hero. And it doesn't hurt that Josh Holloway is absolutely gorgeous.

I was a little mad at Michael at first for being so angry at Sawyer but then when he was sobbing at the end of the show. I almost started crying too. He is devastated at losing Walt again.

Did I mention that Josh Holloway is gorgeous?

ya, it just goes to show that since everyone thought Sawyer was mean and bad on the island, he just acted that way. you could tell he was hurt everytime someone just accused him of something without any proof, just because he was sawyer. He really got to show the good side of himself. :) Loved all his parts in this eppy. I really hope they continue this side of him. Keeping the sarcastic, jerky parts too, cause I love those as well.

Between Sawyer and Hurley, I don't know which gets the best lines. They are both very funny and great to watch.

The Michael/Sawyer interaction made me want to scream. I can empathize with Micheal, his kid just got kidnapped, that can't be easy to deal with. He's upset and that's perfectly understandable. I would be upset too.
And the part where Micheal actually did splash Sawyer was hilarious. Perfect response to a smart ass remark.
But I'm still upset. I was beginning to think that Micheal and Sawyer were developing a sort of father/son relationship. Michael was pretty much everything Sawyer needed in a dad, he even comented on the man's patience last season. I was kind of sad when they started acting like five year olds. Even if it was a riot.

sawyers_lovrgrl
09-29-2005, 01:19 PM
yeah, I just think that Sawyer respects Michael, like Borderlynechaos said, as a father like role...but he does not want to show it, and would rather be the Hero as a posed to everyone knowing that he has some issues.

Going into the next episodes this characterization of Sawyer could be VERY enjoyable to watch. They guy whose intentions are mostly good, but who takes no crap from anybody and does his "heroics" in his own way. It is a GREAT contrast that is built into his character. Over and again Sawyer does the RIGHT THING, but by most people's norms and standard does not always go about it the RIGHT WAY. Presently, it IS an interesting contrast with Jack, who is so often worried about doing things the RIGHT WAY that sometimes he ends up doing something wrong. Make sense?

"Got a bandaid?" and What are you gonna do? Spalsh Me? lol sooooooo Funny it was hilarious when micheal splashed him and his raft piece fell apart although i got a tad bit scared thinking the shark could attack him.... whew glad to know the shark didn't get him!!

I hated Michael with a passion during those scenes but what an intereaction between these characters!!! And yeah the guy had lost his son so I guess he wasn't at his right frame of mind..atleast he DID come around towards the end of it....so my hatred went over to grrr Michael but ok..you aren't that bad LOL. Sawyer just showed here he CAN be a hero WITHOUT loosing that sarcasm we Sawyer fans knowand love :). Yes he gets the best lines!!!

I cannot belive the stamina of this guy..he is shot...he has sharks around him STILL he goes into the water?! He takes the bullet out with his hands..STILL he manages to get off the lil part of the raft to get onto that big part they both ended up on.... The guy is no wuss that is for sure! Sawyer was a true hero in this episode, and he certainly has no death wish! Inspite of the fact he risked his own life several times over in this episode!

And I never hated him..I just thought he was a jerk in the pilot episode but come episode 3, Tabula Rasa he won me over LOL. So it is GOOD to see that Sawyer can be the HERO without loosing that edge LOL

Well hell the man got to me so much in last night's episode that he followed me into my dreams *squee*
Sorry off topic but just had to share that information...yep he had his snappy one-liners going on in my dream too *shakes head*

Anyway I had to re-watch the episode so I could laugh all over again at his "Got a band-aid question" I mean that was freaking hilarious! And him saving Michael like that, reminded me of when Jack saved Charlie. I mean I love Sawyer even more than I did before!!

Mary I so agree with what you said, he certainly is no wuss!! I mean he is soo strong and I so love that about him.

I saw Sawyer in one of those poster/pictures on the wall at a LensCrafters. He was an eyeglass model. This was about year ago.

He's always been a good guy. Except for not admitting he didn't have the inhaler for so long last season, he's always been a good guy. If he has something and someone really needs it he will help. He's just careful to be sure that it's really needed and that he isn't giving something away that may prove more useful later on in a bigger emergency.
Sawyer good.
Ana bad.

I always liked him, though I'm a Jater (as if these two didn't coincide...). He has such a great potential; a sarcastic bad-ass, a sardonic lover, a lone wolf in search for stability...

Naturally, every scene with him was a cliche, but a lovely one.

OT, I've just seen an early episode of NCSI and there he was, Josh Holloway, playing a sheriff from West Virginia small town... My jaw hit the floor. His part was small, but that voice... (it was the episode 'My other left foot' if you need to know...)

Makes perfect sense. Couldn't have said it better myself. This is precisely why I'm not a fan of Jack's. His good intentions result in crappy outcomes.

The character devoplment didn't much much sense im that ep, it would of been better if they gave us the damn flashbacks for him that would explain his actions in this ep. But Sawyer was great in this ep. Totured and messed up heroes are the best kinds and in a lot of ways a lot more heroic because of the inner demons they've had to overcome. I loved Sawyer from the begining but I've always loved the asshole, rude, sarcastic characters and I love them even more when we get to see them be heroes and such *nods*
