Hey, maybe he is religious again and has no intent of using the heroin :) Maybe..? A true Charlie fan must always believe in him, right?
But how adorable was that PB&J scene?? Squee! :D

Well yeah. But I believed in him BEFORE he took the one that had drugs in it. He could have easily taken the cracked one with no drugs in it. He knows very well that taking the one with drugs in it is a temptation; and he knows that a temptation when you*re now a former drug addict is very dangerous. So he knows it*s wrong; yet he took the one full of it. I don*t think he has any good intentions with that one.

He took them because he hasn't had to deal with temptation. He threw away the drugs. No more drugs. He hasn't had to deal with it because it wasn't there. Remember what he said...wasn't it along the lines of...The 'statue' could come in handy? I think he took them in case he thinks he might need them somewhere down the road.

I hope you*re right. I AM giving him the benefit of the doubt... but you never know.

Dudes, what if he just took the statue, and nothing else. What if the statue is his way of trying to keep himself AWAY from the heroin? What if we the audience, are only meant to think he took some drugs, but in reality he didn't. I know it's a long shot, but we'll have to see.

I think he took the drugs because he didn't want Claire to know what it was. And he wanted her to be very careful with it.

"life is series of choices"
If Charlie doesn't have drugs within reach he isn't making that choice, he's merely getting by.
I suspect he will be very tempted at some point but he can't seriously go back on them, we love him now. It's unnacceptable on American TV.

i think he just took a statue to give to rose

Well, it is possible that the writters could give him a "moment of truth" type of thing where he's about to do the drugs again, but decides not to, maybe because of Claire and the baby. It'll just be good internal conflict for Charlie to be faced with once more.

I support Cheroin...so I hope he does the drugs because that means more Charlie on the show and I am selfish.:) But he probably won't. He shall realize that Claire and Turnip Head are more important. Or maybe Claire will find out. She does know that he was a drug addict. I read somewhere that Locke and Charlie are going to start re-exploring their relationship again...so we know what that means. ;)

Watch the move trainspotting to understand what Heroin Addicts will do for Heroin, then watch HBO's America undercover special on BlackTar Heroin and China White and you will get a huge idea of the draw of the drug. They have really done a good job in capturing the adict for a 9pm ABC show. It was great that he got so protective of the statue, it would be great if it was empty.

Charlie is thinking about the drugs all the time when he is not with Claire and Aaron. They are the first things he probably thinks of in the morning and the last thing he thinks about at night. Why? Because he is an addict people...
Read up on it. Addicts can have everything going for them and their life be all together and they will still use the stuff. It has nothing to do with stupidity..it has to do with addiction.

Charlie is keeping the statue in case he want's to do some heroin. He will reach a point when he decides to do some, but realizes he'll have to break the statue to do so. When he looks at the statue, there will be a close up of the statue looking back at him and he won't be able to bring himslelf to break the statue. At this point, he'll be completely free and clear of future temptations.
The first time he quit, he did so with Locke's help and it was for the sake of quiting. When he's finally tempted with this statue, he'll decide not to do it for the sake of well being and that...that will be what really matters to our friend Charlie.

he is going to take a hit.... just give it some time... He is not going to beat his addiction that easy
He is definitely going to take those drugs.
VERY few addicts get clean without ANY relapses at all. Charlie has made it so far because there was no dope on the island - or so he thought. Now he has a steady source of it, and there is no way he is going to be able to resist it. Because he is an addict, he's addicted to the stuff. Look it up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Addiction :)
Noticed he denied being Christian? One of the first steps of becoming clean is believing in a higher power. Huh.
She does know that he was a drug addict.I don't think she does. :( Lost her memory, remember?

I don't think she does. :( Lost her memory, remember? Good call on her not remembering his drug addiction confession, as that happened right before Ethan kidnapped them.
I also think he'll definitely end up doing the drugs. As long as the drugs are there, he'll be tempted to use them-- there can't be one definitive "choice" scene where he manages to fight off his addiction and NOT do the drugs, because even if he makes the choice not to do them, the drugs will still be there, and thus so will the choice, all over again.
The only way this will come to a nice tidy TV-style resolution is if he chooses at some point to go back to the crash site, pile up every last bit of heroin, and burn it all.
Since he didn't decide to do that right away, I think he's going to end up back on the heroin again, and there will probably be dire consequences not only for himself, but for the others as well, when he relapses.

Here´s to hoping he starts his addiction again, hopefully overdoses and fades out of the show along with Michael and Jack :)

He was obviously cautious about the statue when Claire asked about it, so he is hiding the heroin. Not that he's going to use it, but just in case.......

Before I begin, I want to point out that I love Charlie and believed he would go clean if only for Claire and the baby.
I'm disappointed. Charlie took that statue for what was inside it despite everything he's gained on the island. Watch him talk to Claire. He was eager to get the statue away from her, didn't want to talk about it, and was clearly nervous. He wants the crack.
However, being the optimist I am I do think there's hope. Jack and Locke both know he's a former addict. It's going to be hard not to notice if he's wandering around high. And even if those two are caught up in their own problems there's also Sayid. Sayid is possibly the smartest person on the bloody island and he's bound to notice something. He also knows what the statue contains.
