You messed up. On the 4th line, the difference between +3 and -6 is -9. Then the 5th line would be +21 and -6. So the last line would be -27!

but if you add 42, the last number in the series, to -27 then you get

If you're going to allow double usage of the number 42 in your calculations, then you need to allow double usage of the "mirror" (clone, dna, genetics - it all makes sense now) number of 42 which is 4. So subtract 4 from 12 and you get

tada! 8, which is one of our special numbers! That has to be the final solution.

I just realized that 108 - 12 is 96 which is 6 * 16! Another one of our numbers. And 6 itself is halfway between 4 and 8, two more of our numbers. 12 is definitely a key value here!

Maybe the numbers are a naturally occuring in nature because we are always be bombarded by them. The happen everywhere. In the grocery store, at the gas station, in church, at your son's baseball game, etc. We just are so accustomed to them that when this show has come out, JJ and writers have made such a big deal about them that we are actually becoming aware of OUR actual surroundings and MAYBE we are the ones that ar sick and the numbers ( being repeated over and over and over ) are actually a part of OUR life.
