Am I the only one who caught this? Lock calls Hurley "Hugo", but (of our knowledge) Hurley only told Jack his real name when he wanted to do a census. Wheres the connection between them?

He's always called Hurley Hugo. I noticed this while I was watching re-runs. I don't think we ever have a solid reason WHY he does this...but he does.

Really? I thought there was a big fuss kicked up in the final episode in the last series where he called him Hugo prior to blowing up the hatch, and it was determined that there was no evidence before that of him ever learning that name.

Perhaps my wires are just getting crossed.

Maybe it's his way of trying to be serious. Locke is after all, a very serious type of character.

I noticed that too, he was doing it early on in season 1, it wasnt the only time he used information he really shouldnt have known.

He knew charlie was an addict, and that he was a member of driveshaft when most other people didnt know.

However there are possible explantions, Hurley won the lottery, and as we saw from Sun's or Jin's?) flash back, hurley was on the telly, with at least some celebrity status, also we know that Hurley is a majority share holder in a box company. Locke worked in a box company, coincidence?. There are some possible ways he could know. Sam with charlie, he was famous, and his addiction could have been public knowledge.

Asside from the fact he could have known from those reason, maybe he's just intuative? if he is the super observant master hunter, i doubt things like that would slip him. Failing that explanation, the island could have told him when "he looked into the eye of the island and saw somthing beautiful. Maybe ifnormation is beautiful?

Maybe 'cause he's professional and doesn't like nicknames. :p

Anyone remember when the boar charged them and he fell down? Then afterwards he called Kate, Helen.

I did catch that and maybe I am reading too much into him, but I haven't trusted locke from the begining. I think he knows way more than he should for someone who isn't really supposed to know anything. It'll be interesting to see where they take his character.

Well that is because he was (probably) talking about Helen the girl whom he has talked to over the phone, while he was charged for talking to her. She must of been one of those phone personals. But we will find out in 2X03 I believe more about her and Locke's relationship.

If you think back, Locke worked for the box company in Tuscan that Hurley owns. It's very posible that he recognizes Hurley as Hugo Reyes, the owner of the company he works for, and just hasn't mentioned that he knows him.

Just a thought.

That would be insane (not unbelieveable insane - wild insane) but it is possible. Too many connections in this show! I love it!

And yes, I caught it when he called him Hugo. Sounded weird and I asked myself the same question, "Has he called him that before?"

Once again Hurley does NOT own the box company that Locke works at, he is a major shareholder in the box company, not the owner. I'm thinking that Locke is very observant, however I have not seen anywhere else where Locke called Hurley Hugo except for the last episode of last season and this episode. I've watched them over and over and never caught this. If he does call him Hugo in earlier episodes, please tell me where :) I want to see too!
I'm still unsure of where he'd find out Hurley's name unless he watched tv when they were interviewing him after his big win of the lottery. I guess that's always a possibility.

Are you sure? I thought he owned it? I'm going to have to watch that episode again.

I've spent the last two 26 hours thinking so much, my hair hurts!
