When you see the amount of new topics in this forum and the fact that another popular forum (the fugelage) is basicly down (!!) because of over-usage it says somethings about this series.
Be honest: have you EVER been this addictive towards a series? Don't you just NEED to think about it and try to explain things? Isn't this clearly an indication of a new era of TV series? Isn't LOST groundbraking in all this?
I mean: we are all trying to figure out things about ONE episode! Come on man!
I want to bow down deeply for Damon Lindelof who wrote this episode and had a big part in creating the show as it is. And also to all the cast members who believed in the show. JJ is the best in appriciating Lindelofs genius: you guys ROCK!!
I just had to say that... :D

Besides Nip/Tuck and sports, this is the only TV i watch.
And no, I have never cared or used this much brain power on something like a TV show like I have with Lost. :)

Somehow I think the "23 million" was a joke on one of our much loved numbers. Are the ratings for last night available already?

Except for Buffy and Angel, I have never loved a show this much. It's absolutely incredible.

I was addicted this much to the first 2 survivor series, but since have *lost* intrest in that particular show. This is like a good mystery movie, with enough drama, science, faith, and unanswered tops that you just have to "turn the page" so to speak to see what will happen next, if it was a book i would have read it non stop without putting it down. My only hope is that im not dissapointed in the end result...but i dont think i will be. And how about the "eye" being painted on the wall, and of course season two opened with what else, and eye. What is going on with that, im sure theres a thread somewhere about it but really wayyy to many threads to keep up with.

I completely agree. Never before has a show taken a strangle-hold on my life like LOST has. I hope this sends a clear message to networks that reality tv has run it's course, and it's time for writers/directors to start being a bit more creative. It's time to make shows that, dare I say, stimulate the minds of the audience. We aren't just couch potatoes anymore...

This is what I particularly like about LOST that no other series has...
They give you enough information on every episode and do not leave you hanging... I mean totally hanging... From the #1 episode, if they wanted, they could have made out lifes so much worse....
Like on season 2 opener, they could have ended it when the beam took Kate etc...
THANK YOU LOST WRITERS FOR NOT TREATING US LIKE SOAP OPERA FANS

I am absolutely crazy about this show and sooo glad that season 2 is living up to the quality we've come to expect from the writers. My children love it too, and I had to make a concession and allow my 9 and 10 year old to stay up past their bedtimes on Wednesdays so they wouldn't miss it. They catch things I sometimes miss.

You know, I totally agree with you. TV has gotten so predictable lately, and I love having a show to watch with interesting characters and a show that makes you THINK. Some people I've talked to don't like it b/c they say it's too "bizarre" and it doesn't "make sense." Well, that's exactly why I love it! Why does everything have to make sense all the time? Just my 2 cents!

Absolutely in agreement, arnezami....this episode absolutely BLEW my mind, especially the opening sequence!!!! WHOA that was awesome!!!
To answer your questions: Never have I been this addictive toward a show. Never have I joined a forum to discuss a show. And I cannot remember such an incredible group of characters (and actors) together like this. Kudos to the writers AND casting people who brought everyone together and created characters worthy of the story they wanted to tell....
Groundbreaking??? Have you seen all of the new sci-fi/drama programs coming out this year??? Yes, LOST paved the way, and we, the audience sent a message to TV producers that we want to see more character-driven dramas, and fewer reality crap shows.
I want to bow down deeply for Damon Lindelof who wrote this episode and had a big part in creating the show as it is. And also to all the cast members who believed in the show. JJ is the best in appriciating Lindelofs genius: you guys ROCK!!

With such HUGE expectations and a very long time to wait....LOST delivered.
I am beyond excited about season two!!!

Love Nip/Tuck too. I always make sure that I get all my crap done by 8:50 at the latest during the week because:
Tuesday: Nip/Tuck @ 10:00
Wednesday: Lost @ 9:00
Thursday: CSI @ 9:00
I don't care if I have a test the next day in Art History. I do the homework and cram for exams before the shows and unwind while I watch them. And people know better than to even think of calling me during these times of the night. Now that's love! :D

i dont think its so simple as addictiveness; its actually interesting to watch and then discuss - but the real kicker with Lost; is that it has longetivity well past each episode airs.
thats what i love about it.
the writers, directors; everyone associated with it are very very clever people.
