Who was first Desmond or Danielle?

So who was on the island first? We all know Danielle has been there for ~16 years. How long ago was the scene with Jack and Desmond running?

I'll have to go rewatch Jack's wedding episode to see if they say when the accident was D:

But if Desmond arrived after Danielle, that would lend credibility to the "island being an expiriment" theory. With all the equiment he had, Desmond seems to be recorded data for something.

16 years is a long time, the scene with desmond and jack didnt seem that old. But hey, we wont know if we dont get things into perspective with a timeline or so. Actually it would be great if someone could make a visual timeline with all the important events (on the island and the flashbacks) so that we get a hang of the storyline. (obviously the flashack dont come in order, they jump back and forth in time)

I would think Desmond came after Danielle. I don't think Jack could have met Desmond 16+ years ago, especially because he was a doctor at the time of thier meeting, it was probably closer to 5 - 10 years ago.

Jack seemed to recognise Desmond rather quickly, I don't think he would remember some random like that after a long period of time. Then again, it depends on what impression he left when he met. It all seemed very mischievous to me.

I don't think he's been there as long as Danielle, doesn't quite add up. Jack probably hasn't even been a full doctor for 16 years.

yah I say that Danielle was there first. Because I dont think that Desmond and Jack met that long ago... but fi Danielle was already on the island... how did desmond get into the hatch withtout Danielle knowing about it... maybe she knows but didnt tell them? but that would be weird...

and I agree with duphus... I dont think Jack would remember someone so quickly if he just didnt meet him that long ago...especially cuz the encounter was really brief...

THe problem is that Adam Rutherford - Shannon's father was in the accident with Sarah. We know that Shannon's father died when she was 8. Shannon is now 20(??). Makes it about 12 years since the accident?? Any verifications on this?

I just watched the scene again, notice how his main living areas are modern in some aspects? There's a washer and drying, which look like something from the future to me! (kidding, the point is they're there). The blender looks modern, and he has dish washing liquid. This isn't just something someone puts together with what they've got while trapped on an island, something/someone has to be supplying him somehow.

That would make more sense - Also because of "8"( Magic number). 15, 16, etc seem too long of a time frame between Sarah's surgery and the island.

It was easy for Jack to remember Desmond. Desmond made the key comments to Jack just before he went back to visit Sarah (his future bride). After marrying Sarah, he probably thought about that conversation in the stadium every now and then. He also had a memory/flashback of Desmond as he was climbing into the hatch (well, maybe that was just a flash back for us, but still he would remember Desmond due to the signifigance of the conversation regarding his patient, Sarah).

and yeah maybe he might remember it... because they had kind of meaninful convo about Sarah...

Dude nice pick up on Shannon's father!!! So Jack made the choice that Killed Shannon's dad. WOW!!!!

OK here is the thing there is no way that dude had the hatch made. Because he could not have been there before Danielle. Because Jack is like 36 that would make him 20 out of med school and already a high profile dr.

But there is no way he would just stumble across the hatch how would he know about the computer and the routine he had going.

I'm thinking that Danielle was there first and somehow Desmond ended up on the island. And I also think that that hatch was there way before Danielle got there. I'm still thinking it was the others that bulit it.

how would desmond get all the material on the island without danielle knowing? i mean that was one hell of a construction project. and why do we know jack is 36?

I get kind of a parallel universe thing in which time means nothing. Otherwise you can't explain it.

And do we know for sure that Shannon's dad died before her mom married Boone's dad? Maybe her parents divorced, and he died later.

apparently shannon was 18 when her dad died and she is now 22 so this puts meeting desmond 4 years ago. desmond seemed pretty sure his replacement was overdue so he must have been there over a year and a half (540 days).
